- Time to unbox, fondle, and discuss this brand new carbon steel Mora Garberg!
Is there a more versatile all-in-one bushcraft/survival fixed-blade knife out there? Seriously, I’d love to know.
After a friend let me handle his Mora Garberg I was pretty surprised at just how much better this knife is than the already outstanding $10-20 Morakniv Companion Knife.

All mora are great but the garberg is perfection.
Totally agreed 👌
When I was unboxing my first Garberg knife I was pulling it out from handle and I had a most unusual experience. Right away I knew that this knife was special. For the money it simply cannot be beat. A very close second would be the mora bushcraft black.
I hear you on that one! Before I bought mine I handled a buddy’s and between the weight, balance, blade shape, sheath, options… I ordered one the next week.
There are some serious survivalist here on CZcams that choose this as their one “end of the world “ knife. There isn’t much you can’t do with this knife in the woods. If you want to see some of those things and you don’t already know about the channel, watch some of Ranger Survival and Fieldcraft videos. He’s a US army ranger and anyone could learn from him. It’s definitely a serious survival knife.
Nice! That channel’s new to me but I’ll definitely check it out. It’s always reassuring when highly qualified individuals come to the same conclusion as you do.
The Mora Garberg is a solid choice.
those cheap garberg sheaths are awesome. you can clip it right on your muck boot. perfect positioning
Nothing will top the almighty GARBERG!! Well I really like the kansbol and the 2000 not as beefy but more versatile
I lanyard would make it a safe thruster.
Garberg Is a Phenomenal choice
Thanks, as I currently sit in front of a campfire I just built using my Garberg, I still stand by it 👌
Great review mate 👍
Thanks dude 🙌
I have two lol. I got one neaely new from an auction, fell in live and had to have a brandnew one. I dint know why, tge other one is still razor-sharp, no damage and the sheath and handle are perfect! Its so good i dont know jf ill ever need to open the new one, lol. If you have a diamond stone or ceramic stone and strup, your good for a VERY longtime. Ive bad hundreds of knifes in my life and destroyed then all pretty fast, knufes at way higher price points , but this one is special.
I actually have the tactical one. Same knife, just larger but like half an inch, it has a flimt and an inch wode diamond stone on the front. Not much different, just a bit bigger and the stone lol, its suppose to be tougher , but i think its just a beefed up tang.
I bave idea why j had never geard of mkra blades before. Honestly i probably wpuld have thought ut was trash because it was cheap and in plastic sheaths. Im kearning so much about knives since then.
Love this knife, so much I've ordered the red handled one just because. I've had the carbon for a couple of years now and always planned on getting a stainless as well, and what better than get a funky red one.
Thanks for share. Hi from Turkey 🇹🇷
Thanks for watching.
Cheers 🍻
Heck yeah the garberg is a sick knife. Some days I wish I would've gone with that instead of a Gerber Strongarm, but seeing as it's just my light duty camp knife I can always wait for a good deal on the garberg haha. Thanks for sharing dude!
One knife I can think of that offers a finger guard with a neutral broom-style handle meant for bushcraft is the Esee 4HM. Would be keen to see a comparison of the two in use :D
What's your thoughts on a condor terrasuar
@@TheBudgetguy_K.T great knife from the looks of it. I have no user experience with the terrasaur but plenty of reviewers say that it feels about 99% similar to the garberg in hand and works just as similar. The price tag is much nicer than the garberg too.
The Terrasaur has been purchased and is in my possession. The unboxing video should be up within the next couple of weeks. SPOILER ALERT: IT'S AWESOME. Thanks for the suggestion!
Mora Garberg with poly sheath going for $54 rn on amazon… i had to get it, and i love it.
Polymer is a name for any plastic material :-) This particular one is a polyamide reinforced with glass fiber. The steel is C100, german equivalent to AISI 1095. Cheers!
Solid, thanks a lot for the info 🤙
Alternative to this knife? Tarava Jaakaripuukko. And its kissing cousin the Finnish Ranger knife, the Sissipuukko. Also, an easy way to ward off rust from your carbon steel blades. A little Chapstick works wonders. It's food safe too.
Nice! Solid looking blades. I just wish the Finnish language/spelling wasn’t so damn difficult…
Ha, that chap stick trick is hilarious. I’ll be sure to have that tip one stowed away in my mind for a rainy day. Thanks 🍻
I recently watched a video that tried out several different corrosion preventing methods on high carbon steel (1095 I think it was). Mineral oil was easily the worst, and pretty much next to useless as I couldn't see much of any difference between that and bare untreated steal. He tried WD40 (better but still not good), food oil etc. and by far the best product, and the cheapest, which resulted in almost zero corrosion was good old 3in1. Obviously not your best choice for food prep, but a scandi for food prep is never gonna be great anyway. I'd suggest a garberg paired with a small opinel or folder for food prep and you're good to go.
I'm late but still great review again.
Thanks bro 👊
What are best full tang knives that you recommend ?
-Small/EDC size: ESEE Izula or Izula 2 (HANDS DOWN)
-Medium size: ESEE 3 or 4 Becker BK2 Campanion
Large Size: ESEE 5, 6, or Junglas
Honestly, if you want “the best” full tang fixed blades, ESEE is where you should probably put your money. They have some of their knives in S35vn as well if 1095 carbon steel isn’t your thing. Plus, their warranty is unrivalled.
The Garberg is the best knife for the money, and shoots way above its price range. The steel is very good…. Not great (like a CPM3V would be). However, the type of steel and edge geometry are perfect for eachother
It’s definitely up there on my list. The love the 1095-like high carbon they use, but like you eluded to, it’s great for hard use bush craft knives… and not much else lol.
I still need to try some 3V so I can know how awesome it is for myself, because people freaking love it.
@@HardOnGearChannel honestly, I’ve had about 10 knives with CPM3V. Lt Wright does it exceptionally well, as does bark river. Those two prob have the best. If you wanna get into it cheap- benchmade does it pretty well too. But go for an LTWK Genesis 3v scandi. As a fellow Garberg user (and lover) I can say it’s the upgrade that you want!!!!(but probably don’t need). All that said. I use my carbon Garberg more than anything. It’s my favorite handle
@@erickmo1188 Really appreciate all the info and the suggestions! I’ve been torn on what to get for my first 3V but that definitely gives me a good starting point. For now, the Garberg will handle anything I need it to. Cheers 🍻
Is there like a rubbery surrounding over the plastic on the garberg handle?
I don’t know if it’s quite rubbery, but it’s grippier than pure plastic. It’s mostly just texturing I believe, but I’ve never had issues keeping a grip on it. The grip is nothing compared to the rubber on say… a Cold Steel SRK.
Ranger bands rubber ,bike shop tubs ...
I'm still Loving my Bushcraft Black GOAT
Hell yeah bro! 👊
I've always liked the mora plastic sheaths. Prefer them to leather !
Spanish knife Joker, can’t remember which, but on my wish list along with this
Interesting, I wasn’t familiar with Joker knives, Thanks 🤙

@@tariqkamil7853 Nice, thanks for the link 👌
@@HardOnGearChannel figure it’s something that might tickle ur fancy. Same price range
@@tariqkamil7853 Indeed it does! If I hadn’t just bought 6 new fixed blades in the past month, I’d probably be ordering it right now 😂.
Definitely keeping it in mind now though, so thanks!
The sheaths I believe are zytel rather than kydex.
After I quick google search I can confirm you are correct! Thanks for the catch--I'll make sure I get it right in the full review.
Mora Companion and Companion HD have better handle geometry and are lighter.
Super valid argument. Not to mention being $100 less lol. There are certainly big pros and cons to both.
Morakniv Garberg'in Kabzesinde Robust'taki Gibi Uzun Bir Parmak Koruma Olsaydı Garberg Çok Güzel Bir Tactical Knife Olurdu.
Sorry, I only speak English, but thanks for the comment 👍
@@HardOnGearChannelMorakniv Garberg Finger Guard Very Small,Morakniv Robust Finger Guard Long And Nice Ergonomic Handle Similar Tactical Blades Handles.Morakniv Garberg Finger Guard more Long Should Be Done.
@@bicak_knife_messer_tool I totally agree, I wish more Morakniv knives had that long finger guard 👌
What's the width of blade?
-The blade stock is 3.2mm (0.13 inches)
The Garberg Carbon is my EOTW choice, too. :3
"Sweet! I found oil!" "Oh, yeah, I guess we could use tha- are you dipping your knife in it right now?" I'd love to go stainless if it weren't for minimalist fire capability being my highest priority, lol.
Ha, I hear you. Rusty blades are annoying… but ones that dull too easily and can’t strike a ferro rod are even more so.
It’s the angle of the spine not the type of steel that sparks a ferro. Carbon steel sparks with flynt or ferro white stainless steel requires a ferro.
Life lesson: do not use this knife to open shellfish. It will break.
Really?? I would’ve thought the Garberg would’ve held up better than most. Was it the tip that broke?
@@HardOnGearChannel about an inch from the tip and almost 1 cm chip. The tip held up but I had to reshape the tip to fix the chip. It's still useable and I use it mainly for wood carving now.
