South of Heaven is another song you might enjoy
South of Heaven and Dead Skin Mask
This has had a spot on my workout/getting stuff done playlist since highschool
One of my fave Slayer songs along with Angel Of Death and Dead Skin mask 🤘😀
Skeletons of society
Slayer!🤘🤘🤘. I forgot Kerry King used to have hair.
Lmao yeah he's been bald long enough that's totally acceptable
🤣
Love this, Charis. I really like the slower Slayer stuff like this. It’s so sinister. 🔥
Dave Lombardo's drums are amazing on this song and this whole album. Perfect time and groove.
One of the nicest dudes ever
Those where the 90s. There were no tax wright offs - you just signed with a label and they took ALL your money😂
love how your unintentionally headbanging the drum fills🤣 just goes to show you definitely have a musical mind
saw slayer do this live on the clash of the titans tour with megadeth, testament, suicidal tendencies.they were that powerful i came out of the gig like i was on something i was that pumped with adrenaline.oh and i was also deaf what a gig
Ears ringing for a couple of days after that show, yea... been using ear plugs at live gigs ever since 😂
haha well in mate, long gone are the days when the volume was ear splitting@@C64SX
helluva gig that my mate@@C64SX
Your comment on instrumental intros reminded me of Mr. Bungle starting their self titled album with a song that started with what 20-30 seconds of silence. it sets the stage of the album...
When you yelled "camels" you reminded me of the dog from the movie "Up" with "squirrel"
The first guitar solo was done by the man who played guitar on fight for your right to party
I did not know that. That is a fun bit o trivia.
This whole album kicks ass. I was 16 when this came out.💯🤘🤘🤘
I want her to respond to dead skin mask, I wanna see what she thinks when a certain part comes up. Don’t say what I am referring to please, just in case she does… keep it for a surprise.
Dead Skin Mask is a must
Creepy af though 😂
But yes, great track
It's actually called a tremolo bar. Whammy bar is more of a slang term
Night at the Roxbury featuring hair band Slayer with a horsey 😱😱😱
If I'm not mistaken, this song is about Alister Crowley's interpretation of the abyss.
Wow surprised you covering this! Cool 😎
One of my favourite songs to air drum along to and one of my favourites to play on guitar (Jeff's part. Never properly learned Kerry's part).
P.S. are you related to Tom?
There was an idea in music called a hook. It could be a riff or a chorus, usually, which caught your attention and grounded the song in your ear, so that you would wait for it to come around again. It could appear right away, or it could appear later on, but it had to be repeated. Some bands were great at, others captured lightning in a bottle. It's the part of the song that you find yourself humming on your own, or makes the song immediately recognizable. The opening riff to Smoke On the Water, Iron Man or Enter Sandman. When I hear a song for the first time, a truly memorable song, it grabs me. By the heart, by the shoulders, or by the throat, depending on the song. If that hook isn't there, it's just a throwaway song.
Love the groove on this. It's more Sabbath than Sabbath. Love the big dirty riff kicking in
Song- Dead Skin Mask
Es hat Spaß gemacht dich mal wieder zu sehen.Deine leicht verrückte Art ist jedesmal erfrischend.😎🤘👍
Metal kid reacts*
Stick with me. You said, "What is more badass than pharaohs?" I mean, it worked for Iron Maiden, right? So here we go... The Charis Sellick duck... with long flowy locks, a leather studded collar, and a Was-sceptre... riding a camel... inside Luxor Temple... yeah. YEAH. And and and and the scene is constrained inside, get this... IT'S INSIDE A TRIANGLE SHAPE... you know, to invoke thoughts of pyramids w/o actually showing them, see? And below the bottom level of the trangle shape, a single line: #ThrasherMetal ... Shit, Charis, I might as well print money for you. ;)
8:47 - I don’t believe I‘ve ever seen someone so happy to c a guitarist utilize a whammy bar. Atta girl.
Thank you, Thank YOU!!.I am engaged now. This is my favorite Slayer song. The Video is so good. I liked your take on the video. 🤘🏻🤘🏻👌🏻
I like the darker hair color it makes you look more dark and mysterious. Oh and SLAAAAAYER!!!!!
I would love for you to do another Bands That Made Us series. Especially doing the Iron Maiden Hallowed be Thy Name Live from Hammersmith 1982. You talked about wondering how Bruce’s voice has changed over the years. A young Bruce will blow you away!
Good breakdown of Slayer's music... 👍FYI - Slayer's songs were usually very short and to-the-point (Their 1986 album 'Reign in blood' was only 30 minutes long w/ 10 tracks of fury 🔥🔥) ... (Late guitarist) Jeff Hanneman (the blond one) admitted he would get bored if Slayer played at a slower pace for too long... but Hanneman was the one who came up w/ 'Seasons in the Abyss' (he would contribute the slower, eerie tracks by Slayer) and Tom Araya (bass & vocals) wrote the lyrics about madness - the breakdown of the mind...
And yes, Tom Araya was not the high-calibre singer like Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) or Rob Halford (Judas Priest)... but his intense vocals were perfect for Slayer's music.
Slayer didn't film any music videos from previous album in the 80's... Like Metallica before 1989, they chose to let their live concerts do the talking... and they spoke loud & harsh 🤘🤘
But for their 1990 album 'Season in the Abyss'... producer (and label head) Rick Rubin sold the band the idea of filming this music video in Egypt... It got on MTV and the album sold gold in the US (half million copies) and is their most commercially successful album to date.
Slayer spent much of 1991 touring relentlessly as both 'Reign in blood' (1986) and 'South of heaven' (1988) went gold... Their shows were so intense that even Megadeth had a hard time placating their frenzied audience... Their mosh pits were the stuff of legends (I would know!)
Unfortunately, 1992 brought the dismissal of drummer Dave Lombardo... Paul Bostaph (drums) replaced him on tour and joined Slayer ... Their 1994 album 'Divine intervention' charted at #8 in the US and sold gold, but it wasn't the best album creatively. But Slayer persevered and kept the metal faith... their career took off again after a decline in the 90's by 2001 and Dave Lombardo (drums) rejoined Slayer by 2002 (until 2012).
Slayer songs are typically short, intense and fast 🔥like - 'War ensemble' ... 'Ghosts of war'... 'Angel of death' ... 'Hell waits'... 🤘🤘
But they also deliver some stellar musical moments... songs like - 'Dead skin mask'... 'South of Heaven' ... '213' ... 'Spill the blood'...
Headbanging is irresistible with this music. You should do Angel of death
Now you're growing up....this is the real big boys metal!!!
Dead skin mask and silent scream are my favourites
It would be interesting to see your reaction to Slayer’s more evil songs like ‘Hell Awaits’ or ‘Haunting The Chapel’. They even have a song called ‘Necrophiliac’ (guess what that one’s about).
Disciple from GHUA!
Do Gemini by SLAYER... you'll love it
More old school Thrash please...In particular Overkill-Horrorscope would be great.
A whammy bar is also called a tremolo bar.
Great comments
Yes more Slayer \m/
My favourite Slayer song is At Dawn they Sleep.
Nice to know that someone else seems to be “drawn” the the pyramids! Amazing aren’t they? You got another subscriber because of that and the Slayer reaction to MY favorite album of theirs… check out and do a reaction for Dead Skin Mask on that same album… 🤣 if ya dare. First time I heard that one I was on a dark country rd when a certain part came up, scared the absolute shit out of me 🤣. If anyone knows the part I am talking about … keep quiet so it’s a surprise for her. 😂
To think I saw them live when this came out lol
My favorite Slayer song!
That wa,wa,wa effect can also be done by bending the neck… not sure if it can be done by a bend of the strings or not… but yeah!
Listen to WAR ENSEMBLE (the official video),, it's what I put on for someone listening to Slayer first time. It's the opening song on the Season in the Abyss album.
Badass song
I see all your rubber duckies in the background my mom who works at target just gave me a reindeer ducky to put in my truck. Lol
Recomend this music of Slayer
Repentless
Interesting though, Char... if you want to emphasize vocals, here is a list of bands with distinctively unique vocal stylings:
- Queen
- Aerosmith
- Alice In Chains
- Soundgarden
- Journey
- Korn
- RHCP
My only fee for you using this list is for you to first do Where Did You Sleep Last Night by Nirvana. I'd love to hear your take.
Keep up the good work! 🤘
Who doesn't like Egypt, Who doesn't like Slayer..... A match made in heaven (or hell,Who knows...) ....😅...
This is kinda considered the commercialized version of Slayer.
Still rules though!
🤘🤘
You should check out the band death
Slayer Gemini
Seasons is the best Slayer album.
🤘🤘🤘
I can here Ozzy singing this 🤔
Slayer - Bloodline is a really cool song and video
Request for a new band for you
Texas Hippie Coalition - Pissed Off and Mad About It
Reacciona a war ensemble, Live de Slayer. ❤❤❤❤❤
Dittohead music video!!
great reaction… appreciate it. listen to Mercyful Fate - Evil
The first song on my band's set list from Slayer. Being a vocalist and a decades' long smoker of many substances, it's one hell of a song to belt out! May I also suggest "God Send Death", "Divine Intervention" and "213". All Hail!
If you'd like some more stuff that doesn't suck you right in with the first beat you gotta try TOOL. Actually it might be that you'll end up looking for the beat 😂
If you want pure slayer.
Play hell awaits
You'll never be the same
Repentless is awesome. Please react to it ❤
Good Stuff.. Love this version of Slayer. Their super thrashy stuff is almost un-musical to me.
CAMELS! 🤣🤣🤣
You know, you look like someone I knew in highschool and she was into this band like no ones business. lmfao
Also, this is one of my first songs I learned on guitar.
Because of said girl 👀👀👀
@@CharisSellick 👀👀👀
Hed PE Renagade
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Metal= surplus or missing hair 😂
Political spiking they had to go through a lot to film this video
Slayer Megadeth Metallica anthrax x. They're called the big 4 slayer. Slayer is the heaviest of the 4. It has been said that slayer is the band. That all thrash metal groups measure themselves by testament.Who was not in the big 4?Is the only band alive that's as heavy as slayer
Also a Christian band... look that up lol.
Also this song is about the mindset and perspective of a suicide bomber.
There is also a guitarist for "Guns N' Roses" that goes by the name "Thrash"
Wrong, it's Slash not Thrash
Close, his name is Slash
Metallica is great but Slayer is NASTY 💀
Season in the abbys is one the most commercial albums not very representative of slayer style. rainning blood is more slayer. It's not a good idea to react to this kind of bands if you listen to the voice. Here guitar riffs are important and the lyrics.
Cutie lol
Ironically, this song, for the most part at least, isn't really thrash. It also has literally nothing to do with Egypt, they're just their because they can be.
Slllaaaayyyyeeeerrrr🤘🤘🤘
