Who agrees the PS4 sounds like an airplane
I took mine apart to clean the fan, which by the way feels like you're going to break the shell when opening it up. And it still makes a ton of noise when I try to play anything intense.
And that's why playing your backlog is sooo much better than playing on PS4 or PS5.
Still got a ways to go with the backlog.
I remember my PS4 Pro HDD getting corrupted years back, that really pissed me off.
Consoles aren't built to last anymore, not like those old cartridge based systems that still work many years later. It's as if they purposefully make it so you have to buy a new system because the old one dies on you just in time for the next system.

I wouldn't be raging if I had a ps4. It just depends on the game you're playing. It's like those conflict between xbox and playstation. Nobody gives a crap about you're 69 billon bit drive it's the games that are supposed to be compered.
This goes beyond just the "games". PS4 has an online paywall and this is a problem, consoles shouldn't be charging for online access, that's my biggest issue with it.

The passion that flows out of you in this video is glorious. Personally the only modern console that is in my opinion decent is the Switch and that's only due to the portable aspect of it. If you can mod it then great, it becomes the best modern console due to emulation. Unfortunately mine is a newer model and at the moment is unmoddable but hopefully it becomes moddable in the future. My PS4 is in storage (I really should sell the thing) and the only games I really played on it were Red Dead Redemption 2 and Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled.
Seriously though, people are really going out and buying PS4s and Xbox Ones and playing only maybe 10 games on each system before moving on. Back in the day a console was a main stay in the collection and I would end up playing so many games on the PS2 and GameCube, even the PS1 and N64. But now you buy a "modern" console and maybe theres a couple games you want to play, that's it. Who knows what's going through the heads of those who buy PS5s and Xbox Series Xs, there's no games...
The only PS5 game I want to play is the Demon Souls Remake, but I'll hope and wait for a PC-Steam release. Xbox Series X...absolutely nothing I want to play. The same story as the Xbox One...absolutely nothing I want to play.
Don't forget the Steam Deck exists, that's the best modern console if you ask me since it can do emulation, has free online multiplayer and is portable with better performance than the switch. If I was to get a console, it would be the Steam Deck. Thing is, no one takes it seriously because it has no exclusives like the switch which is why exclusives are such a problem. We should be basing our judgment on the system itself not the games on it.
@@CynicalGamingBlogTerry309 I have a Steam Deck and to be honest...I don't really use it. When I first got it I used it a lot but I ended up finding issues with it. Some Steam Deck Verified games would run poorly or just straight up not work and emulating games from 6th gen or higher (PS2, GameCube, etc.) would end up making the Steam Deck really hot, so if you wanted to go from lets say playing Windwaker on Dolphin to playing Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of Mordor would end up crashing after 30 mins due to how hot the Steam Deck was (I assume a failsafe to make sure the Steam Deck doesn't permeantly break). So I had to make sure I planned what I was playing ahead of time instead of just going with whatever and having fun.
Might have just gotten a bad Steam Deck, it's possible, I have seen online that other people have had similar issues to me. But I've never had any issues with my Switch. I imagine the Steam Deck will get better with time but at the moment I would wait another couple of years. Just my advice unless you want to give it the luck of the draw and hope not to get a iffy one.
I wasn't against getting one but I mainly use my PC anyway and rarely play portable games. Your experience with the Steam Deck sounds similar to my experience with the PS4, that system does exactly the same thing. Regardless, I'd rather play the steam deck than the switch simply because it doesn't charge for online multiplayer, it's a matter of principle for me. Ultimately though, I'm happy enough with my PC.
@@CynicalGamingBlogTerry309 That's fair, I don't use the multiplayer on Switch beside local multiplayer so I don't have to worry about paying for online for Switch. In the end PC will always be the best option to experience any game.

While I don't personally agree with PS4 and 2/3DS, I also haven't fully explored their libraries. I have found some games in each that I really like. I will say that action games and action RPGs are definitely more enjoyable on the 2DS than on the 3DSXL. That top screen and button layout on the 3DSXL make it a chore for me to play.
As far as what I would pick while leaving obvious stuff out like the Jaguar or 5200, I would go with the N64. Yes, it has some of the greatest games ever made, but if you're not into those games, what is left? Not much.
Next choice would be the entire 7th gen. Turn-based RPGs (especially good ones) became a rare species, and everything was either an action or Western RPG. Two genres that I like in small doses. While the inclusion of backwards compatibility and downloadable retro games was nice, if you take those out of the equation, you're left with a pretty mediocre generation of games. Even some of my favorite franchises that had entries on PS3 were not as good as what came before on PS1 and PS2. And f|_|ck the Wii and its forced motion controls. Good thing the handheld market was on fire at the time.
It's important to remember that it isn't the games that I'm talking about, it's the systems themselves and their annoying paywalls and all the other bullshit associated with them. The games that just happen to be on them are irrelevant to me, exclusivity needs to just go away entirely because that's what is allowing consoles to be like this, they hide behind their exclusive games so that they aren't held accountable for their bullshit.
7th gen wasn't particularly all that great but neither was 8th or 9th gen for me.

The issue with that is that the PS4 doesn't have a lot of room for air flow unlike a PC case. PS4's tend to get hot and overheat often and no jailbreaking can change that. I mean if you want to jailbreak your PS4 then go for it but I'd rather have longevity by getting a PC that will last and stay cooler.
Can count on Terry for an impassioned video response! Hell yeah. PS4 has grown old like mold, particularly my controller. I’ve never owned an OG Xbox nor do I care to. Our opinions are strikingly close here.

Thing is though, I know exactly what I want, I want games to be available on all platforms, none of this exclusivity crap, let everyone have access to games on all hardware. That will solve all the problems because then consoles will actually have to try.
Sadly though Nintendo never will.

Well we're nearly there, only thing holding things up is Nintendo, once Nintendo finally forfeits their exclusivity, PC will have everything and people will never have to play on a console ever again. Once that happens though, PC gaming will absolutely win, especially if they step in to the digital market so we can get more competitive prices.

@@demon_cyborg5 I don't hate every console, I love the Gamecube, SNES, PC Engine and PS2 a lot. I also liked the PS1 and N64 as well as handhelds like the GBC, GBA, DS etc. My beef is with modern consoles. I grew up with consoles so I still have an attachment to the ones I grew up with and those systems didn't have all the bullshit that consoles today have, no forced installation, no paywalls, just put the disk/cartridge in and it plays.

Yeah I see where you are coming from and most of the worthwhile exclusives that it had *like ys or persona 5* have been ported to other systems/pc outside of a few like sakura wars, but its way better compared to ps5 and was a better option compared to wii u and xbox one
And dunno about the switch comment, is it underpowered and is nintendo behind on alot of aspects? Yes but it does have a ok rpg lineup with fe three houses, smtv, astral chain, baten kaitos remasters, and upcoming ones like mario rpg remake and dragon quest monsters dark prince
The Switch's line up of exclusives IS the problem, it's making them more and more complacent because they don't need to try anymore. You want to play those games, you have to own a switch unless you are going to emulate them, you can't play them on PC.
What this means is that they can get away with murder because they have essentially held games to ransom. That's what exclusivity is. What they should be doing is putting digital storefronts on PC to bring more competition to the PC digital distribution market.
In an era where games are becomming digital and physical formats are dying, exclusivity really should be a thing of the past but it isn't because Nintendo are too fucking greedy. Microsoft and Sony are mostly doing away with it thankfully so I don't need to buy their shitty consoles, it's only Nintendo that sstubbornly refuses to let go and this has always been the case, they are always the last to start something and the last to abandon something, because they're stubborn, complacent, smug bellends who think that their brand label is untouchable and they can't be beaten by anyone because their army of fanboys will crush any backlash against them.
Right now I hate Nintendo the most because they are the most smug of the 3 companies, they have a fanbase that literally worships them, like you can't say anything bad about Nintendo because you will get so much backlash but as someone who grew up with Nintendo games and systems, modern Nintendo is outright betrayal to me, they have become no different from EA and Activision..
At the same time though, Sony and Microsoft are just as bad. You see this goes beyond just these individual systems, I made this video as a response to a friend of mine so I had to bring up individual consoles as examples but the fact of the matter is, console gaming has gone to shit, in fact it went to shit nearly a decade ago, I've been saying this time and time again, so in that regard, aside from maybe the Steam Deck, they all suck because they all have online paywalls, most have forced installations, they all have more-or-less a digital monopoly, they all play by their own rules to control what their audiences can and cannot do.
Consoles suck now, PC is the only option for anyone who values freedom in gaming. As sad as this may seem, it's the truth. This is mainly due to the fact that trabilism and console wars has fueled mindless fanboyism to the point that nobody can see the flaws in them.
At least systems in the past made technical strides and were actually good systems, sure there was always exclusivity but they didn't lean on that, they went out of their way to make their systems good and didn't have all these shity paywalls... besides dreamcast and Xbox but those were forgettable systems IMO, 6th gen was all about the PS2 and the Gamecube, those two systems are timeless.
So to sum up the whole video, all modern consoles suck, except the Steam Deck because that doesn't have an online paywall. Steam deck actually lets you play games online without having to pay an additional fee, what a concept...
Unlike these greedy corporate pricks that have to charge people to do basic shit, whats next? Are they going to charge us for saving our game? I could imagine it the way things are going. I hate all these companies and their systems piss me off. That's the only take away you need to know from this video.
And yes the Steam Deck is the best 9th gen console by a landslide and it has no exclusives, that and no online paywall.
@@CynicalGamingBlogTerry309 Well, nintendo is purely a gaming company overall though unlike microsoft and sony *who have businesses outside of gaming* they live and die by their consoles/ips and it makes sense why they aren't interested in pc and want to keep most of their games exclusive. Plus they are very japanese and old fashioned
First party nintendo games *like mario/zelda* aren't going to go to pc, but alot of their 3rd party stuff like harvestella and live a live went to pc or other systems
I get most of your points however *and I have a pc as well, it's definitely the best way to play stuff now with how much you can customized, mods, and especially emulation*

I want to play games like Astral Chain but I refuse to buy the Switch for it, I bought a PS4 for Star Ocean 5 becuase tri-Ace is my favorite company but buying a switch for Astral Chain? Nope.
If Astral Chain was on PC though I would probably play it.

The 2DS, PS4, and OG Xbox are great consoles. You are wrong. The PlayStation 4 can't play music CDs because music CDs were dying and they wanted the console to be more focused on games, you can still play music off of USB which is faster and easier. And the 2DS is easy to mod so you really shouldn't be hating it.
Music CD's are dying... yet companies still release Music CD's... like wtf??? The music from USB is ripped from a CD and you need a disk drive for that, PS4 has a disk drive and can't even play them. That's pathetic.
2DS isn't easy to mod, PS2 is but not the 2DS, there's a lot of complications to modding it, I have watched tutorial videos that are hours long explaining how to do it whereas on PS2 you can softmod a memory card easily, same with other systems. Nevertheless it is on my to-do list.

Only reason I bought PS4 was because Shenmue 3 and SF5 were exclusives and i don't have gaming pc. It always sounds like it's creaking shell is gonna burn up. Controllers don't last like you said. Touch pad start button worthless and waste of effort feature; no backwards compatibility; giant games install to tiny hard drive.
Good things I can say:
-easy to stream on YT
-games are getting cheap
-new games still release on it so I don't have to get Lamestation 5
Well I got Shenmue 3 for free on PC via Epic Games Store, which should tell you how much better PC gaming is compared to PS4. Also streaming is easy on PC since you can use OBS directly to a window, no capture card needed. Games are way cheaper on PC.
Only thing PS4 has that PC doesn't besides Star Ocean 5 and Exist Archive are Vanillaware games, hence the fact I mentioned Unicorn Chronicle, boy am I pissed about that. I will blame SEGA because they own Atlus, fuck you SEGA.
@@CynicalGamingBlogTerry309 I agree there Terry, I thought the recent remake of GrimGrimore would have been on all platforms to test the waters for Vanillaware games on other platforms but then they went "nah, we'll try Nintendo and that be it". What's wrong with these game companies...do they not like money or something. You'd think by releasing a game on more platforms it would increase sales of that game right? More accessability, more customers, which would then equal more money right? Guess not the thought process of these companies, lol.
@biolyze It seems to me that PC gaming is seen as taboo in Japan for some reason because you rarely see western games as console exclusives nowadays. It does annoy me about Vanillaware though since I really enjoyed Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and Muramasa.
This is why I prefer gaming on PS5 over PS4.

@@Chrisgamechannel1Oh ok, I remember when I used my trial for Playstation Plus to play DOOM online once to see what it was like, the experience was terrible, I kept disconnecting mid-match when I was streaming it. I later got the game on PC, played it online and never had a problem, ran buttery smooth and I didn't even have the system requirements for it, which was funny.
You criticise these consoles for what you see at first but don’t see the good in other games that are open to you ps4 and Nintendo 2 ds have lots of good games in there respectful catageries and bad ones but as a gamer I love them all from retro to new consoles they got a lot to offer you just don’t see it why because you not a gamer at heart just a sorry excuse to blame the game indestries

It is true that sony games are moving to PC, which is a good thing same with Microsoft games, the issue is though that Nintendo are refusing to play ball and it's very frustrating since thei have more interesting exclusives to me (even though most of their exclusives aren't interesting to me in general these days)

Just about any Nintendo console is emulated to play guess what? (gasps) Nintendo games on your computer! And you can upscale the resolution, use hacks to get 60fps, HD texture packs, etc
It isn't the responsibility of the gaming community to do all the work releasing these games on PC, it's the companies that own the IP's, so this is irrelevant.
