Just a note from a Greek person. The e at the end of Hekate is pronounced the same as the e in Aphrodite and Persephone. In the Greek alphabet it’s the η letter which is pronounced like the double ee in Bee
I still say "Go-ay-shuh" too, and so does every occultist I've ever met or listened to! Even Lon Milo Duquette says it that way! I'm going to keep saying it this way, I'm not convinced, haha!

Yes same for me too. I literally spent the weekend reading a book specifically about mirror magic because I don’t really use them in my practice & want to start. Plus I ordered my first black obsidian mirror.
I’ve also just started using keys. I love the idea of locking away my bad habits
And Ive recently bought my first skull 💀 to use in a specific healing spell.

My grandfather's second wife, not my biological grandmother, but the only grandmother I knew on that side of the family, is Greek. When grandpa was getting on in years and knew he wasn't going to live forever, they moved back to Greece. He is buried there, near Athens, overlooking the Agean Sea. I've always wanted to do there.
I agree with you on mirrors. They reflect what they see and therefore the energy in them is a reflection of what was in front of them. If it was in a happy home, it will hold happy energy to reflect back. And if it was in a bad home, that's what it will reflect. But that's useful in using them to reflect negative energy away from you, etc or to amplify a spell.
I have never understood how to use a skull in my practice. But my husband, who I have already told you, is a nonspirtual man, had bought me a couple of them, telling me it's a very witchy thing to have. He draws the line at real bones of anything, but he gave me a moss agate one, a clear crystal candle holder one, and a huge hollowed out one that most likely is a candle holder but like a jack-o'-lantern. Now I have some ideas on what to do with them.
Mirrors have always fascinated me. Putting two mirrors facing each other has the potential to open a Portal. Also silver backed mirrors are more likely to be able to open a Portal. So they say. Sometimes I think about fucking around and finding out. Lol.

OMG! You’re so funny! The janitor has all of the power… Which is true! They hold ALL of the keys! I pronounced Goetia as go ay sha as well! When you were talking about the keys, I automatically thought of the classic Tiffany lock and key necklaces 😂 I would like to work with mirrors as portals. I never have, but I have been aware that mirrors are portals. I generally work with Ouija Boards. I pulled my protector demon out of my Ouija board. Going to any foreign country would be awesome! I’m happy you get to go to Greece! For the lock I would go with blood. The DNA wouldn’t wear off. Just one new thing for me … I am now working with Hel. I just thought I felt her calling to me. And people are correct when they say she’s not soft and you get tough answers for your questions … She does not sugar coat anything. I think that’s what I need. I know I leave long messages, but I’m not in a coven and I don’t have anyone to talk to about witchcraft … So you end up getting all of my thoughts 😂 I believe that our mind and soul essence resides in our skull. Hair is definitely an interesting spiritual concept because so many different cultures believe it's linked to parts of our soul! Would be a fun conversation for sure ☺️
I use mirrors in my Magick to create boxes where I will place people (including me) who need to realize what they've done or face their truth. I surround the entire inside with mirrors and place poppet inside. I also use mirrors to amplify energy.
In feng shui, mirrors amplify energy, so it can amplify any energy that needs clearing from your space, eg like an entity or “demon”, which is easily cleaned up with clearing techniques.
I feel like that mirror box spell for the friend to see whats right in front of them i feel could be tweaked a little to find lost items, i cant wait to try that,
also interestingly enough my racoon skull is very quiet, not very active,(i think its because of how/where they died) but my pig skull MEANS BUSINESS, he demands my attention and likes to be filled in on things like the weather and what our area is like, he's full of opinions and I do take the vibes to heart. He gets regular gifts of fresh water and apples of course
To the skull comment: I think it's also because the skull is more easily identifiable, so you know what energy you are dealing with.

I have only worked with a skull glass so far in a working on myself & can't believe how well it worked! I have a lot of plans for it!! The mirror thing, I don't know. I have two, one at the end of each side of a hallway, which would freak some people out! I just assumed that if I kept them locked, it would be fine! I love this series. Thanks again, Ivy. XX 💙

UPG - But I think a lot of the uneasy feelings people have around mirrors and the mirror's ability to be portals or whatever depends on how the mirror is made. True Mirrors/Nonreflective mirrors are made up of two mirrors angled to face each other and bounce the reflection off each other to present a true image of yourself. They can be very disorienting because they do not reverse the image of yourself, and instead show you exactly as you are (apparently these are often used in store change rooms and can explain why many people hate those mirrors). I think if there is ever a mirror that can hold a spirit or even allow a spirit entry somewhere it would probably be one of those. Also, the current process of making mirrors reflective is by silvering one side of a clear piece of glass. Initially, this process was done with only silver, but over the years other metals such as aluminum or chrome have been used, and I feel like that could certainly affect the mirror depending on what material was used. (Sorry for the super long comment, but I think this topic is fascinating)

Mirrors can be portals because people use them for such. There are plenty of demons or dark spirits waiting for an opening. People open portals, they are not just there, in a mirror, room, etc. Thank you for your wonderful videos. ❤

i've been saying "go-ay-sha" my entire life, so there you go, you are not alone! - giordano bruno (1500s) created seals/sigils that were keys, the designs of which were maps of his mindpalace to specific memories; that's why his designs are so different from anybody elses - aztec/toltec shamans are heavy into scrying with black obsidian mirrors, they will stare at the edge to make the center blurry. -thank you for another amazing episode! 🪐

I've followed Feng Shui and through it came to hate the mirror. I have mirrors in bathrooms and that is it. When I travel, I hate seeing mirrored closet doors and cover them up with whatever I can find around. Plus, some mirrors are truly 2-way in hotels (anyplace on earth). I feel as you do, Ivy--to me they pick up vibes. This whole video--particular the lock & key--was educational for me. TYVM!

I have added my DNA 🧬 tag locks to a local ancient burial mound (I’m in the U.K. so am lucky that we have so many ancient pagan sites)
It’s a very energetically active place as 3 major ley lines cross on the top of the mound. I buried my DNA exactly where the lines cross. I buried things that would quickly become one with the earth so no worries of someone random taking bits home with them 😂
Same here... I wish I had thought of this when I was visiting Stonehenge years ago! 😂 But mental locks can be just as powerful especially if you believe in some sort of collective energy ❤️

I also am wary of using mirrors for reversals or even as portals. I have one tea light candle holder with a mirror attached that I burn my chime candles in to amplify magic, but for the other mirrors in my home, I protect them with an oil sigil and hope nothing malevolent pokes thru!
I LOVE skulls and keys and need to just brainstorm some ways to involve them more in my rituals. Thanks for the inspo!

Yes please! I’d love to see a video about working with spirits and also using tools to do so, like a spirit board. There’s not that much positive information out there, and I’m drawn to it, but with all the negativity that surrounds it I have to wonder why anyone would be willing to use one. There must be positive aspects too.

Also interesting that you perceive the soul as in the skull; I see our spirit(s) there.. I perceive the soul as more close to the heart/solar plexus.. although it does seem to rise to the head/crown/pineal/pituitary regions when in sleep states/NDE's.
Kind of like the heart (soul) is the light that shines into the mirror of the mind allowing you to perceive the many parts (spirits).
Oh, I obsess over vertebrae as much as skulls. Don't know if that's just because I have only really found vertebraes but, it's just so interesting.
Just like a piece of furniture. Depending on what the mirror has been through it can carry certain energies.
Whenever I would take psychedelics whether that be mushrooms or LSD I would always feel something strange about the mirrors and I can't see that good enough as it is I have very poor vision to the point of wear glasses do not help and I cannot drive so I definitely feel Vibes and Energies and some mirrors would just make me paranoid for some reason
I think most items can absorb the energies around them but I think mirrors get an extra boost because they are reflective items. Their whole purpose is to reflect back what they get. I think because glass can intensify energy (magnifying sunlight to create enough heat to start a fire) then it can seem much stronger and more intense than other things typically are.

Hey Ivy :) Awesome video thank you! I love all three of these object. I feel that I've been using magic my whole life without really knowing. When I was a kid my bestie and I had a collection each of coloured bobby pins that were 'keys to other dimensions'. We'd find two trees close together and unlock an invisible door between them with a key, and enter into a different reality. We were just playing of course... or were we? I don't know but the other kids sure did think we were weird! Mirrors - I have my late Grandmother's old mirror. I think it was in the entry room to her home or a common space. It has a strong presence that I can't explain. My brother does not look into it, he feels he "shouldnt" for some reason. One day it fell off my dresser, somehow not disturbing all of the things on my dresser, as if it must have leaped up in the air and jumped off - the frame smashed off it but the mirror was totally unharmed. I chucked the frame away and still have the bare mirror. I think it has chilled out since then.
If anyone's concerned about a spirit or demon finding their way through a mirror to you... just bind the mirror. Draw an X with your finger using a bit of protection oil and declare it with the full power of your belief that it is closed. If you draw it on the backside, it will work while also not making the mirror a greasy mess to clean up.

So I’m wondering if the reason many older cultures beheaded their enemies was because they believed the soul resided in the skull? That would make more sense and be less creepy than just being that barbaric.

I would think the reason why we are drawn to skulls over parts, in child psych, at birth we are hard wired to look for faces. bonding happen with looking into each others eyes. infant with caregiver, coupleing, friends and pets.

I know that a lot of people use a clockwise motion to bring in new energy. But if you're using keys wouldn't it make more sense to turn it to the left ? Because when you open a lock you open it by turning it to the left and you lock it by turning it to the right. I know this also has to do with personal preference I just thought it was interesting.
I think that if I was to incorporate a skull into my practice I’d prefer to use a 3D print of my own skull from a cat scan or MRI. It’d have truly personal meaning to me.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the money or means to do it.

Maybe EA koetting would have said something like that about the mirrors but wouldn't it make sense if you feel suspicious about something to smudge it even before you take it into your house consecrated and cleanse whatever energy was already on it
What is corpse water traditionally used for? I have to thaw dead mice for my reptile. I could collect the water in a mason jar, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I have always believed that humans tend to gravitate to skulls because they have a face. It feels more 'natural' to speak to a skull because it has a way to speak back.

I didn't think anything about mirrors. Long story short, just had to remove a black mirror because it was making me sick. Littarly felt like it was sucking the life from me.
I don't believe mirrors hold any power unless one gives them the power by unintentionally charging it with our energy/thoughts or set intention to it. What we believe we give power to.
It sounds like you are describing mirrors as record keepers. You can also build up a relationship with a mirror by directing specific energy into it over time. The seven years bad luck for breaking a mirror probably stated when mirrors were new and it would take seven years to save up to buy one. I imagine everything you'd have to forego in order to afford a new mirror probably would feel like bad luck.
I have a tattoo with my nannys ashes in it. Do you know how i would go about making contact with her and turning it into a protective tattoo? When i was getting it done i visualized the memory of her saying even after she dies she'll always be in my heart and will protect me, but i dont know if that was enough to create a sigil/charm or not. Any information would be so helpful, thank you in advance!
Wow, what a cool way to honor her! It definitely sounds like you turned it into some sort of sigil or talisman. When it comes to contacting spirits and communicating with them, I always use tarot. I'm not sure how you could use the tattoo... But maybe you could trace it with your fingers as you call her into your sacred space. It would be a nice way to pull her in, and then you can perform some sort of divination while she's there: tarot, pendulum, etc.
Can you protect the lock with a guardian spirit , a protective seal or timestamp through a contingency spell? Will you be vlogging at all while out in Greece or waiting till you return ? Regular mirrors I personally do not believe are portals but I know you can scry with a black mirror to get to a specific person ( visually)in vampiric magick . So that you don’t have to transmute any of their potential toxic energy. In that sense I guess that’s technically a portal but not one you can step out of and stay in like in Scooby Doo. ❤thanks for another good one. I like the Ivy that throws out an F bomb. Trigger warning: When I was either a freshman or sophomore in high school I tried to OD one day. It wasnt until almost the end of the day that I almost fell out but I caught myself. When it got home my stomach turned and I tried to eat a little and eventually I just kind of fell asleep. It was unlike any dream I ever had. There was no pain, no suffering it was the most at peace I had ever felt. It was there but it was like I was sleeping. Until whatever it was didnt let me stay and my body rose into a window above me which was my actual room. The transition was so fluid, I didnt wake up to really was just a transition. Spirits said I had to go to school I guess. I've had way too many near-death experiences ever since I was little. But the other side just won't have me.
