Just passed my oral board wanted to pass along helpful Information because I needed it when I was preparing. #1. Tell me about yourself and why you want to work for this department. That starts the interview off, have something short but effective to say here. A few other situational questions involving stress, integrity, deadly force. It is nerve wrecking sitting across from 3 high ranking officers but if you have any life experience use it to your advantage and make it fit the questions.

Think something this video should add is to sell yourself too. Make sure you somehow word your work experience to align with the departments values and mission statement. And whenever I answered a question, I always referenced back to the mission statement and department values, and also mentioned the city’s problems and how I can help contribute to mitigating it.
You’ll sound like a broken record but I was congratulated all 3 times in 3 different departments saying I came prepared lol. Now onto the hard part 🥲 poly and background shit. If I don’t get hired in the end I’ll just keep trying
Good attitude to have. Written and physical test is set for myself and others at end of July. I was already a gym rat before but now I’m going even harder. Good luck !

@@wordtoyourmamason for privacy reasons I won’t say. But you got this my dude just be confident. Just prepare for a lot of report writing every single day. Shit is draining (imagine doing 2-4 hours of report writing after a long day of physical training, learning, etc. shit sucks lol) been going to sleep at around midnight everyday

@@recklezz404 they ask pretty basic question for the most part. They also ask scenario based questions. Honestly the best thing to do is just be yourself man! Obviously you are gonna be nervous and they expect that, but just answer the questions as truthfully as possible and try to crack a joke some how within one of your responses. But don’t go over board or try to offend anyone.

I just turned 20, 3 months ago and I have a board interview tomorrow with a county jail. When I was 17 I enlisted in the Army Guard. Which is really young in both jobs. And im hoping I can use my age as a bonus to myself saying that I know exactly what I want in life and am willing to do anything to get there. But I’m nervous but I’m ready to move forward in life with this huge opportunity.
don’t be surprised if you don’t get picked up, legally yes you can apply but 21 year old officers are nearly unheard of.
And also the responsibility it takes to be committed especially young hilight your ethics they could use those

@@nathanmuehl2356 I was placed on their list so kindof. About a two year window at worst to be selected. We will see! But, have been working on other departments.
If you have any military background, it'll help you because it reminded me the multitude of military boards I went to. 1st, enter that room like you're hot shit, sit in position of attention, greet each party separately, thank them for taking their time to interview you, it's okay to elaborate.
also as you answer a question, look first at the person who asked and while giving your answer look at each individual on the board while talking.

My oral board interview went absolutely nothing like this. Very technical questions, very impersonal (no, tell us about yourself). I would highly suggest you not pre plan your answers based off of this.

@ReaArtistique Someone possessing integrity would imply that they would arrest their mother. They'd arrest her because they're obligated to if she commits an arrestable offense. I'd definitely arrest my mother. What my job stops where family is involved? To uphold and enforce the law? Nah. The law applies to my mother just as much as anyone else. By saying you wouldn't arrest your mother, you're saying that there is a line where you stop doing your duty. That's my mentality anyway.
@ReaArtistique Now a ticket where there's more discretion, yeah I probably wouldn't give my mother a ticket. Unless she's had several warnings for something.

Is it OK to fart and than blame it on the prior interviewee? Also, do candidates give or get oral?
The partner steeling a candy bar question I believe would be a tough one for many. How did any of you respond if you got that question?
I would confront them. I had in the past, some friends who will take things and I would simply ask them “did you pay for that?” “Is that yours?”. They would at first ignore and joke about, but next time they see me while grabbing something, they seem to be more reluctant. It may sound like a tattletale story, but why would you feel bad or nervous about telling them something? If it’s your partner, then would you want someone who is honest, true to their mission, and someone you can trust?
@@Manic_303 I said it would be a tough question for many or should I say a tough situation. I personally don’t have an issue talking to someone about stealing or breaking the rules. It puts everyone in a bad situation so best to be honest and let them know where you stand. Anyway I already had my interview by now, I passed and am through to background. @@johnhancock1362 I passed oral and went through background but I worked a lot of temp jobs the last few years so they told me to reapply after 2 years of consistent employment. Employment history is very important and I thought it might be an issue. Temporarily positions is work but not good enough even during a pandemic. Hope that helps anyone. 🤗

Why say “no” about giving your mom a ticket?
Because if you say “yes” they know you gonna be lying and they don’t want that.
They know that 99% of cops aren’t gonna give their mom a ticket. They just want to see if you’re gonna be honest.

I noticed something.. during an interview of Brenda Spencer in 90s her eyes kinda did a swoosh. Not like darting from side to side, or just moving eyes from left to right an back at interviewer. It was like a subtle smooth upward half an o with tail off. I think that was the imagination of an attack. Im not a mind reader, I can't know for sure.. I know nothing about that whole situation. Terrible things like that happen but if this suble eye movement can be linked to people whove been proven to have killed maybe a link formed. Theory. Thoughts?

I don't understand the need for an inteview. If you are the personality type that wants to be a police officer, you shouldn't be allowed to.
there is a reason for interviews. too many substandard people out there. this helps eliminate questionable individuals. plus there are more tests to really eliminate people. if they didnt departments would have 1000s of joe bidens on the force.

hey... here's one for yall 1985 I was side stopped by a trooper in va... piretite larceny... trooper decided he would switch the code... so you enter the code for each offense... you can write what you want on paper/// the code/// is what the computer geniuses at the computer enter/// no big deal unless .. they enter they wrong code... this got called up when I decided to be an MP /// you know like a cop in he military... when I got out it was still here... thiis trooper fucked me for most of my life... I wanted to be a cop... and he destroyed that/// now I'm old pissed off veteran that never achieved that dream

FYI... did become an MP... not the cop that I wanted to be... he ficked that up bad...
steve I had a "black" mark too but I wouldnt give up. went to an incredible number of interviews and got turned down. I used these failed interviews as practice and a learning experience and was able to determine what to say, not to say and what things to keep out of the picture. It was a long haul but it got easier with time. Eventually I was passing and moving on to the other testing requirements, did my 20 yrs, ret and went on to the Feds. the review boards tell you to be honest. when you are they then use that honesty against you. They want to find candidates that are squeaky clean so the persons lifestyle wont come back to haunt the police organization. Some Depts are self righteous and some are like yourself and know you're just human. You have to find that fit. I sat on some review boards and I always remembered where I came from with people like you and I. They have loosened the requirements today In a lot of areas and the new generations coming in are already indoctrinated for the reset of the planet. glad I served, glad im out and I would never do it again. sorry you went through this. Like any organization, you need only 1 self righteous scumbag to ruin your dream. To this day I remember all that stopped me. I hate them still.
