    Just passed my oral board wanted to pass along helpful Information because I needed it when I was preparing. #1. Tell me about yourself and why you want to work for this department. That starts the interview off, have something short but effective to say here. A few other situational questions involving stress, integrity, deadly force. It is nerve wrecking sitting across from 3 high ranking officers but if you have any life experience use it to your advantage and make it fit the questions.

    Just passed mine today. They were very impressed. Just like you stated....
    1. Tell us about yourself?
    2. What motivates your day to day routine?
    3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
    4. Where do you see yourself within this organization?
    5. What made you choose this Sheriffs office?
    6. Are you prepared to take a military-style Police boot camp? They will be yelling and screaming at you and you may get punished for others doing something wrong.
    7. What is the biggest obstacle in your life and how did you overcome it.
    8. What 1 person from all your jobs do you consider the best leader you have had and why.
    9. Explain your work ethic.
    10.Why should we chose you?
    11. Is there anything you would like to add to the table.
    My panel was in front of 7 High ranked Sheriff Deputies and 2 HR personnel. The key is to be confident with all your answers and show off the real you!

I rehearsed and left the 3 panel officers with a smile plus, we will be in touch soon, after being escorted out the to the doorway. Tell us a little about yourself? This question is the ice breaker to get to know you and set the tone. Weakness, Strengths you are going to get them both. Personal questions are relatively first off, to get to know you. Next the scenario-based questions, or dynamic questions. Study for these, for the most part and get info over the agency you've applied to. Other than that keep calm make them answers short and sweet. Good luck ya'll .

    I have a question about tattoos.
    I know that many departments (nowadays) are more lenient with tattoos. However, I still want to cover my hand tattoo up with dress gloves. Should I mention it and say that I’m prepared to always cover it up, be it with gloves or make-up or should I just let it be?
    Thank you!
    PS. The hand tattoo is a dope looking Pixiu of my days as a Muay Thai fighter ^^.

    • @Justthatofficer
      @Justthatofficer  Před rokem +2

      Aye, thank you! Okay, so I would avoid the gloves. You won’t always have gloves on when working. Wear long sleeves and don’t bring up anything about the tattoos unless they ask. Be who you are that’s what they want to see. If they have a problem with tattoos, that’s unfortunate unless they are offensive but it doesn’t sound that way.
      They will usually bring it up during the interview (probably at the end) if there could be an issue with the tattoos in regards to policy. If so this is when you can mention that you will cover it up while on duty.
      Otherwise don’t harp on it. Now get out there and crush it! 🤘

For the first interview it was 20 mins 10 question with a timer. Their was 8 officers in a room with you at center. I keep the momentum going and tried like hell lol. Second interview was 50 mins and 10 questions. Round table and 4 officers. This was a decent city outside of Indianapolis. I felt I did a little better on this interview. @SarinaPowers Před 11 měsíci +3

    Great video, one question for now: Why would I not write my mother a ticket if she was being a hazard to herself and the community that I have given an oath to protect? My initial response was yes, I would write my mother a ticket if she was going 80 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. I would think that’s a school or work zone and that’s insanely dangerous, right? Mind you my mother is about 80 years of age and not a speedster, but poor eyesight, so super dangerous for her to speed. So please help me understand the reasoning by the “no” to giving her a ticket. Also, isn’t that a felony?

    • @Justthatofficer
      @Justthatofficer  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Definitely not a felony. It’s an honesty question as most people wouldn’t write their own mother a ticket unless they disliked her for some reason. If it was something extremely dangerous, well that can change the situation. They are looking for honesty here not the answer you think they want to hear. In the end yes and no are both correct as long as you have good reason to back up each answer.
