Early April 2024 TROUT San Pablo Reservoir Fishing Recap [Yeeflex Outdoors]

This was my fishing recap of the trip I took to San Pablo in early April 2024. The fishing was a bit slower than I expected, but it still was a fun trip.

I was at the boat ramp side, Tuesday the 23rd and the department of fish and game did a plant the day before. There are about nine guys fishing that area, but three of them were fishing for carp. The rest of the guys fishing for trout only eight were caught. Action was slow, but picked up at 11:30. A lot of people, including me lost a lot of fish. I lost two because the fish were not hitting hard that day and swallowing a hook, as i’m reeling in thinking hook is set, the trout ate able to spit the hook out. That’s how everyone was losing trout. I saw two lightnings and the rest look like My Lassen trout, all were small, maybe 1 1/2 pounds at best.
Did not realize there was a fish plant earlier this week. I did not realize there was carp on the boat launch side. 8 trout caught amongst the trout fisherman throughout the day is pretty good. Interesting that it was a lunch time bite for the trout. That is good to know that the trout are not biting hard and swallowing the hook. I've had times where the trout spits the hook out even when you set hook on it. 2 Lightening trout and some Mt Lassen trout's are nice to see caught. I've seen a few trout's this year bigger than 1 1/2 pounds, but not as many as previous years. Thanks for the update! I always like seeing your update comments!

I’m at the pines exploring, the one guy fishing said they planted yesterday at main entrance yesterday, so one plant within days at both entrances.
That is good to know that they planted on both sides of the reservoir. From previous experiences, I heard the fish plants were more on the boat launch side. Thanks for letting me know.
