Loved the bathroom but must admit for the Savoy the room didn't look as luxurious as we would expect for that money. The rest of the hotel does look beautiful and the meal amazing too!
That’s exactly what I said to Maffoo but he thought differently! I thought it was a little more old fashioned than classic / luxurious. But had a fantastic time overall with wonderful service and food ❤️
I cannot WAIT to show you this stunning, world-famous hotel and the first ever purpose built deluxe hotel in London, UK. Watch live with me for the premier at 5.45pm GMT on Sunday 16 January :)
I think it's wonderful
We loved it
Stayed there November 2021 for a week. It was the highlight of my trip USA to London. The service is excellent.
I agree; service was phenomenal
Very old fashioned. Having stayed at Kimpton Fitzroy, Conrad, Trafalgar London which are 5* hotels the decor and fittings appear much nicer compared to what you get here. Interesting!
Is say classic rather than old fashioned 😂
This was the greatest part, what you call "old fashioned"
@@itsmeGeorgina unfortunately the service at the savoy lacks. The American bar had some extremely arrogant and rude waiters when I last visited completely put off, regardless of its status as a ‘classic’ hotel
Glad you enjoyed it.
I’d love to stay there, but at £600 I’d look twice at my hard earned cash and think of how many days onboard a cruise ship that would buy.
I get that. Completely. We don’t compare costs of experiences though; we take them one by one and the most important factor is how much we want to do it. This is something we’ve always wanted to do and it was worth every penny; one of the most incredible experiences we will never forget
Fabulous night at The Savoy. Must repeat.
Loved it and can’t wait to do it again some time
Love the Savoy , had 3-4 diff stays in 80’s and 90’s when it was still under the “ Savoy Group” of hotels and not Fairmont so before it was closed and refurbished.
It was great and The American bar is a fav and also the Savoy grill prior to Ramsey Thames foyer for even peach Melba and champagne after dinner :)
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Reception staff , is great and welcoming, put me in a upg to a art deco suite :)
Oh yes the staff were amazing
Looks lush 🥰
Mostly lush lol
Fabulous afternoon tea!!!
Absolutely!
Ooh you didn't chat so much then. No mention of angles in the room and one cheek, two cheeks ra ra ra 😊😊 Hotel looked fabulous.
😂
Thank you ever so much for taking the time to show people like my self the wonderfull Savoy Hotel in London. I have passed it many times by coach and never thought about visiting it.cits on my bucket list now thank you.
You’re very welcome. It was a fantastic experience and hope you enjoy too when you visit.
Beautiful.
It is indeed
Thinking of going here in Jan 2023 as we're in London and as you say, it's also on our bucket list! Great video!
I can’t recommend it enough!
One of my relatives work there Infact they let us go in the V.I.P Area (i went in the red elevator) and the tour was free!
Awesome!
what staggers me is where it is, The Strand looked like a bomb had hit it as we walked down, litter, KFC,s, Tat shops and Burger Kings, then suddenly, down an allley way is The Savoy, we nipped in there for a drink in the American Bar, it was nice, but to be fair it was total overkill, and the place reminded me of a place where old rich people flitter around and stay in their rooms, lets be honest, the average person wants to see London, and this is an expensive place to get your head down and get a wash....the staff were absolutely brilliant tho, they dont know if your a millionaire or not, so they have to be nice.a big shout out to Isaac from Leeds (our waiter) he was absolutely brilliant.
👍
I've stayed at the Savoy and remember it being a great experience. Would definately stay there again if I get back to London.
I’d love to go back ❤️❤️❤️
Oh wow Jamie this was really special, expensive , certainly but what a treat.
Such a special weekend ❤️
I’ve been there for afternoon tea, it all looks amazing
And how was that for you, Sue?
@@TravelBlogJamie it was fabulous as you can imagine 😊
@@suefisher773 pleased to hear it. I saw them coming out and they looked scrummy 😋
Amazing hotel
It really is
Setting the guests on 🔥 fire ..lol😂
Looks amazing Jamie.Glad you enjoyed your stay!
😂😂😂
Thank you 🙏
You are glowing
I am?
I went to see Get Up Stand Up yesterday and 20 minutes before the show started the manager stood on stage and announced it was cancelled, late call or what. So I went to The Beaufort Bar where they know how to treat you, had a Monkey 47 and all was well.🤣
Oh no that’s crazy last minute! Beaufort staff definitely would make you feel better ❤️
🎉🎉🎉
💪🏻
I've been to The Savoy for afternoon tea which was wonderful and I've popped into The American Bar for cocktails after the theatre. I love the adjacent museum with the photos of Hollywood stars.
I've never stayed there but your vlog certainly makes me want to. One day!
It was such a wonderful weekend. Special times ❤️ I already want to go back!!
Hi mate,
A family member of mine stayed there 4 nights a week, every week for years all payed for. He had never ate Mac and Cheese so asked for it with his wife. £100. Didn't think much of it. I live a simple life and remember when he was young he did so too. Just shows how you lose all sense of reality in life. Strange eh.
He paid £100 for Mac and cheese at the savoy?
@@TravelBlogJamie Yep so i'm told for 2 people. Made to order, that's what the meal cost. Don't know what else they ordered though.
@@stevied8855 ha! That can’t be right - I had a whole dinner and breakfast for less than that!
@@TravelBlogJamie I'm only going with what my Dad told me. No matter, they live a stupidly expensive existence that nobody needs. Their whole life is material wealth and who you are. That's why i'm not part of their stupid circle.
@@stevied8855 I think your dad might have added a 0 😂 I always say people have to live and enjoy their own lives, wherever it takes you
We strolled into the Savoy, years ago, and had a lovely cocktail at the American Bar. I wondered what the rooms looked like and I must say, I'm underwhelmed.
I can understand this
Beautiful iconic London hotel, but the rooms are nothing special. I stayed at Apex of London just recently. The rooms there are nearly identical for one third of the price. By the way, the Savoy's floor looks exactly like the floor at Claridge's.
Wow, as they say you only get what you pay for. Pleased you enjoyed your stay. It looks very delux.
Was such a special time ❤️
630 a night that's insane would go only go if I had a few million in bank and wanted to treat myself
I don’t have a million in any bank 😂
Perfect rooms !! Nice luxorious bathroom in your suite.
This is one of the few hotels where I feel right at home, no ridiculous display of annoying luxury that just gets on your nerves,, a hotel where a man like King Charles would be quite comfortable - a very pleasant minimalistic and reasonable luxury, no need to cringe about the fact that you have money ,, British down to earth at it's best 😎
Oh I don’t have the money 😂😂😂
Wow…I remember passing the Savoy on a HOHO bus tour and thought “That’s a pokey little hole that is” but my goodness, that’s posh.
Oh my goodness I’ve never heard it described like that 😂
@@TravelBlogJamie it’s a Northern Irish saying 😂
hi thanks for sharing - does the price of the room include the food you experienced? Paul from Bournemouth - but actually a born and tight Manchurian
Only breakfast
Would love to know how high the staff turnover is. Like alot of places in the hospitality industry the Savoy won,t be excempt from this.
🤔
Love ya style, mate but I think this ones a little out of my budget!
Cheaper than the Shard was!
When was the room last renewed ? The 80s ?
🙄
work there back in1968 as a waiter when the dance floor rise to the level of the tables and the best shows in town lovely 1920 style then i think they lost the class its all blam blam now
👍
The hotel was built in 1889 not 1899
Valuable
The rooms seem quite tired and outdated. In my opinion, it really needs a major revamp.
👍
What a disappointing room. Looks like a goid holiday inn room. Looks like a hotel chain. I thought it would be much more opulent. I'm glad we saw this as we were considering staying here. Not now !
Fantastic news
I watch 10 minutes of the documentary. I saw 10 reasons why their standards are low. Name alone is not enough.
Oh right
Wow... what a disappointment. The furnishings in that room look so generic and plain. No character, no charm. I would actually be angry at having to pay so much for such an average looking room. Even the bathroom misses the mark. So... thank you for the video. I now know NOT to stay at the Savoy, but I will continue to have afternoon tea there. I've had afternoon tea at the Savoy three times, but have never stayed in the hotel. So... afternoon tea - Yes. Hotel stay - NO.
👍
nothing special for this price, only lobby restaurant looks alright and luxury
Oh dear
