    Yesss…. this was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I get a lot of info on driving faster from this style of video because, as a noob, and not used to(yet) driving on the limit it helps to know what feeling is good and which is better to avoid. Usually so hard to find this semi subjective info (maybe because it takes a great deal of wisdom) thank you ☺️ !

    To be fair to gt7, in real life, when the rear gets loose, you dont really feel it in the wheel. You actually feel it in your seat and the wheel also goes kinda light. Im guessing they tried to replicate that but since you can't actually feel g forces in the game, it feels weird.

    • @hubblesphere
      @hubblesphere Před 10 měsíci +1

      Also with the setups in GT7 being more biased towards understeer most rear sliding is due to wheelspin breaking rear grip quite aggressively and you are always needing to catch it quickly and without warning. If you setup the car more neutral the rear breaks more gradually and is easier to manage. This is somewhat realistic although I think GT7 could probably benefit from a bit more gradual traction loss from wheel spin.

      @floundertheflats at a certain point you feel it, like if you start actually sliding it. But when the rear starts to break loose, your only indicator is feeling the car itself, not in the wheel. Unlike understeer, where you immediately feel it in the wheel.

    I play the Forza series on PC. I'm a big fan of it. Why? It's got an easier handling model than other games. I'm older now, and my reflexes are no longer even close to being cat-like, and my eyes are not the greatest anymore. I can still play Forza, and have fun. I have a full thrustmaster wheel setup with gearbox and all the fixins, and have a nice custom folding frame to mount it all on. The sad thing is I can barely lift and set up the frame anymore, and it's too much of a hassle, so I mostly play with controller. Either way, it works. I am so thankful they made a game like this, otherwise I would be just stuck trying to play IRacing, and upsetting everyone running close to my car. My favorite thing about Forza is creating your own liveries, which while challenging to do, you can come up with some pretty cool things. I play a lot just to see these custom paint jobs. I also enjoy tuning cars in Forza. The tuning tools are quite robust and easy to understand. Tuning for your own driving style is quite interesting. I did really enjoy the video. Nicely done. Forza may not be for everyone, as long as you are expecting Forza, and not something else. I wouldn't be sim racing anymore without it.

    I come from 600+ hours of ACC plus another 600 hours combining other sims and I can tell FM is not much different than Raceroom, for example. I agree that the default controller profiles and car setups are quite understeery and safe but with some adjustments here and there you can get your balance exactly how you like. The force feedback feels really good and it's much more informative than in most sims out there. There are a lot of stuff that FM does great and someone insinuating that it's an arcade just tells me they didn't put the time and has a lot of preconceptions.

    • @closedcasketcustoms

      1000% agree. Once you dial in the FFB, I have to say I'm REALLY impressed with how great Forza is now, physics and FFB wise at least. With tons of hours racing sims and racing time attack and a few rally events in real life, I can say it feels close to actual sims now. I do wish they add some of the more sim aspect of things to the setups and in race TC & ABS levels to give it that extra push it needs though. All in all despite the launch issues, I'm glad Turn 10 seems to be taking fixes and additions seriously. It's quickly improving week by week already.

  • @PLAYER_42069

    Forza has more understeer to make it more accessible to casuals since managing understeer is easier than oversteer. It also reflects real life because most road cars have understeer compared to race cars since they're made for the general driving population and not pro race car drivers. I like the statement, there is no "best" sim/simcade. All of them do things differently and it all comes down to preference in the end. However, I do believe some sims (iRacing, ACC) exaggerate things that aren't realistic to distinguish themselves and promote a higher skill gap, right or wrong.

    • @johncarl5505
      @johncarl5505 Před 10 měsíci +7

      Yeah, some simtubers said Forza lacks the exaggerated detail of the road compared to AC or Iracing. Atleast some of them admit that the gradual loss of grip and tire feel in Forza are better than in Iracing. GamerMuscle and Random Callsign comes to mind. Even Austin Ogonoski liked Forza, quite high praise considering that he is very cynical when it comes to physics. He hates the older Forzas and Iracing. Turn 10 definitely improved a lot in the physics department. They sadly forgot about everything else.

    • @johncarl5505
      @johncarl5505 Před 10 měsíci +4

      Also, if you don't want understeer, you might want to check your brake balance and differential. The default tunes in Forza are horrible. The same goes for vehicles with wings. People complain about sliding because the default setups have minimal downforce.

      I never listen to a sim racer on realism, I go by actual racers who race in real life and use sims. Dave peral a real gt3 racer is a good example. Acc is king apparently and gt7 ain’t close

      @@JohnnyJailBait Have been racing irl for close to 20 years now, none of the sims come close. iRacing has the worst snap loss of traction of them all imo. The new Forza has been the most enjoyable, while certainly not realistic.. it hits the key points that others fail to address such as being on the edge of the tire. Forza MP is the first game I've played that gives you a sense of being connected to the track. Which is huge for driving by feel vs driving by memory like most games (hit this point, brake, next point, throttle, repeat). I was braking really hard going into turn one at Mugello and the rear end of the car got so light is started to yaw back and forth as it lost traction. Huge rear grippy tires on a Shelby Cobra pulling out of a tight corner and it squawks and chirps while hopping the tire. Those kinds of things we just aren't seeing from the 'real' sims..

    Any tires other than race are SEVERELY over inflated in FM. Most of them have around 2.8bar of pressure by default (around 40psi). That's WAY too much. Most street cars IRL have 30 to 32psi by default. Most of the time, correcting the tire pressure can make cars handle way better

    • @Rock4896
      @Rock4896 Před 10 měsíci +4

      When I bought my '21 civic new it came from the dealership with like 42 psi in them (despite the car saying they should be 32-35), so it's realistic in a way hah.

    • @dylanmonahan5909
      @dylanmonahan5909 Před 10 měsíci

      I've found the same with FM23. The first tune I do is tire pressure and factory settings are always too high for maximum traction, on literally every car. I've also found most sway bar and spring defaults to be stiffer than optimal, further exaggerating understeer. Fortunately it handles fairly consistently when compensated for.

    Once you dial in FFB settings on wheel and tune the car properly, FM feels amazing on the wheel . For people looking for wheel settings, there's a massive difference between DD wheels and entry level ones.. such as G29, etc. so don't try to tune your wheel for DD style wheels cos that doesn't translate well ..

      The devs desperately need to speak to professionals and creators and find out what the FFB system needs to be in a decent position, the default settings are just god awful, the default settings should ideally be tunes towards popular entry/mid range DD wheels. Right now it doesnt really matter what wheel you have it feels awful unless you spend days tuning it. Having to tweak FFB is not an issue, but in FM you have to fundamelly scrap the entire system and build it yourself.

    One thing I like about GT7 is the gear shifting animation in cars that have a center shift knob. In Forza, the driver animation is shift, then hand on wheel and then shift again and sometimes it looks odd when the car shifts gears pretty quickly or like in FH5 some animations are just broken . GT7 the driver actually keeps their hand on the shift knob to shift when until a certain time in gead or top gear

    In fairness using a really heavy car which actually has an under steer bias for the road in real life is going to produce understeer, maybe try driving an old porsche, they absolutely break lose with out warning just like the real car did, found myself backwards a few times at corner exit, evo 6 is really soft and very weight transfer sensitive, rare that you will understeer if you push it hard enough as it tends to yaw through corners, the characteristics of the cars feel far more pronounced in fm vs gt currently

    If you can't feel curbs in Forza the settings can't be good because I don't miss anything in that regard. Did you eliminated all deadzones? If so, the OverTake_gg or Dan Suzuki's settings should provide curb FFB everywhere it should. And another thing: don't use any assists with a wheel other than maybe ABS and most cars seems way better than this Mustang. In the R class they seem all driving the KTM GT2 and that's really a b*tch I've tuned for more understeer to tame it's tail a bit when the turbo kicks in. Or try the Jesko. I thought this 1k hp Rocco in rF2 is challenging regarding throttle control, but just feels like the Jesko with half the power that can provide wheelspin till 6th (out of 9) gear at 250 km/h. Forza is IMO not too forgiving and I really like you can upset the car if accelerating in a wrong angle on curbs for example, what's completely missing in iRacing even it's a thing in real life. The last fatal Le Mans accident (Allan Simonsen in 2013) happened because of slip over curb.

  • @IsSalty
    @IsSalty Před 10 měsíci +1

    In the end the most frustrating part for me personally is that the devs hyped this up as the future of realistic racing games (i'm not expecting a sim), the "built from the ground up" engine with the complete overhaul of car physics, and in the end, of the major racing titles ACC/AC/GT7/I Racing & Forza, Forza is the most arcade like game of all of those and that's not how the devs hyped this up. I'm not trying to be a racing purist, I love AC and ACC, and I got Forza purely so I had a game that I could just pick up a controller instead of a wheel and just have fun on, but even 10 year old Assetto Corsa is more responsive and gives better feedback on a controller than this modern title. I mean christ, they haven't even added Steering Gamma or Steering Sensitivity.
    It's just not good enough relative to the hype the devs built.

    In the Gran Turismo series, there has traditionally been a choice between sim and arcade steering modes. I never really played in arcade mode, but I assume it's similar to Forza Motorsport's simulation steering. When you select simulation steering, you get a more immediate and precise response from the steering wheel However, this also means that the car behaves realistically,If you oversteer and try to correct it by turning the wheel in the opposite direction, the car can snap back violently, leading to a potential loss of control and a crash.

    Played both but tbf I’ve not played the new Forza much. I prefer GT overall despite the lack of feel when ‘drifting’, plus the loss of time every time you lose traction is extreme as Emily says.
    The thing is for me, Forza seems too happy and almost wants you to slide which I’m not so keen on, however the gt cars upwards are much more planted. I need to give Forza more of a chance yet but these are my initial opinions

    Having played both extensively, here is my take.
    GT in its first year was a mess. Crashes, MTX, lack of weather options etc. imo a worse state release than Forza has been.
    That aside.
    Racing and handling.
    GT7 the car feels alot harder to take over the limit. The back end hardly ever wants to step out. I find it much easier to stay inside the limit on GT and do good lap times.
    With Forza I feel like im genuinely on the limit of the cars adhesion. Tuning imo is far more important in Forza for each individual track. Im fighting the car and the other racers at the same time. Catching that rear end whike risking it roind the outside in Forza feels mkre rewarding. It really feels like you were on the edge to get that move done.
    Hopefully however the Novemebr 14 update fixes the annoying stability issues online. And then they can work on twawking rhe penalty system. When thr oenalty system works its great. But has moments where it clearly gets it wrong.
    Lets see where Forza is in 6 months. I get the impression it will be uodated alot mkre rhan GT7 gets updated.

    I have played both and Forza on pc and Xbox! Xbox is far more stable, the pc version is a mess, to the point it’s just a joke! I always go back to GT7 though, it’s not as graphically crazy but it’s overall more clearer image quality and smoother! Not to mention it has a 120hz option and the amazing PSRV2 option. Forza is a one trick pony and it’s not very good at that one trick lol I will say that I prefer the engine sounds on Forza though. The world sounds are rubbish and the impact sounds are terrible.

    Good vid Emily. I hate the way even with the Forza deadzone at zero, that Motorsport still has resistance when you want small movements from straight ahead.
    It's like Turn10 build in a deadzone - possible to combat stick drift on used gamepads. If you watch pre-release YT vids you can see cars being adjusted in sml amounts in a jerky type of control. This is the reason for this. For me, it renders the game unplayable. GT7 is much better on pad. I've even played Forza since the first update and it cars refuse to move tiny amounts from the straight ahead position from stick input. This means that when the cars do move, they move more than they should, grrrrr. Such a shame.

      I'd say thats a thing for every Controller player and i'd say it's the proper way to get people to learn steering on a controller. Im a controller player myself since i cant afford to get a good steering wheel or even a yoke.
      Either you learn to tone down your steering input and get used to turn constantly light on fast corners or you tap the stick.
      I play Forza Motorsport pretty often now and am learning to stop tapping the stick since many cars really dont like that kind of input and break away instantly.
      For me Forza feels more SIM'ish than ever! And i really like it so far. I never enjoyed GT because the cars feel off and wont steer. At least in my experience.

    Is iRacing playable with a controller, specifically a DualSense? I'm yet to acquire a steering wheel, but I'm eager to give it a shot. I'd like to mention that I've previously experimented with Assetto Corsa, and I noticed some inconsistencies. In Gran Turismo, each car offers a distinct and engaging experience. However, in Assetto Corsa, while certain vehicles like the Porsche 911R deliver an exceptional feel, others seem peculiar, and some even handle similarly. Moreover, it remains challenging to control cars with a controller in asseto corsa while gt7 feels amazing on dualsock 4 still have buy a ps5 to feel what is like with a dualsense* edit .
    Furthermore, in terms of the physics, I've found that Forza Motorsport falls somewhat short of replicating real-world dynamics. On the other hand, Gran Turismo delivers a more authentic driving experience. From the videos I've watched of iRacing, it appears to excel in accurately replicating real-world physics, further piquing my interest in trying it out with my DualSense controller.

    One key difference between Forza and GT7... With Forza, you are not limited to Console only. Currently, the only way you can you can utilize the PC for GT7 is with the Remote Play App, but that requires a high end gaming PC and very, very strong LAN connection, otherwise the lag ruins your races along with anyone else you are playing along side. You also have the app option for X-box, as well, and it has the same limitations.

      And yes, to run a game, like GT7 through Remote Play, you need a high end processor, tons of ram and a VGA that has both, too.
      You have the PC Operation System and background apps, plus the Remote Play app AND the streaming of the game. Without the power to handle that load, you would end up with Processing lag and Memory Lag. You would also not have the aesthetics.
