    Great video and what a nice setup Chris! I love seeing how the sync box works and detail you go into. For me, integrating with macOS with the app was more important than watching content.

      Thanks Eric! Loved yours as well! It’s always great to see how two people can use the same kit and achieve very different results! Can’t lie - I’m a little jealous of your setup!

    Nice setup. I also miss going to the theatre, Chris! Awesome effect with a Phillips hue light strip under the couch.

      Thanks TBL! Yeah - we managed to get to see New Mutants in a theatre during a lull in the quarantine, but this had been a big hit with the family. The candles were set up as a Harry Potter marathon and the flickering candles at Hogwarts through the Hue sync with this setup is so cool! Kids (and adults!) loved it!

    I wish you’d do a video about how to connect it all together. I have a similar set up, but just acquired the Sonos arc… Can’t seem to get the connections right… Had previously had it hooked up to a Marantz receiver, and it worked beautifully with the hue sync box and lights. I’m also an apple person, so I was trying to run my Apple TV an Xbox through the sync box..
    So would love to see a video of how you hooked all that stuff up together…

    Is there a way to connect a sonos beam + a philips hue syncbox to a tv that only has one hdmi arc input? Thank you

    Very nice SETUP. Planning on expanding audio system to sonos, but still hesitating on sonos because of the restrictions on playing by room setup. Liked and subscribed. #supportingchannelgrowth

      Really appreciate it! What restrictions on playing by room setup are you referring to? Curious as I haven’t found this to be a problem.

      @@Homekitgeek I'm probably doing a poor job explaining this but here it goes. I believe the issue is I believe I am unable to play via room/zones if I had multiple amps. (e.g. If I wanted to jam out in the bathroom with Sonos ceiling speaker then I am restricted in having to also play the sound through the rest of the system throughout the house). I think that was the main grip I had with sonos based on my research so far. But I plan to wait until 2022 for the latest release and black Friday deals.

      I think I got it. Amp with multiple speakers wired to it might be the special case here. From a “normal” Sonos perspective. Each Sonos device is represented as single room and you can select one, multiple, or all speakers to play the same audio source. If you’ve got a stereo pair that’s also represented as a single device. If you’ve got a Sonos Beam + 2x Sonos One rears + Sonos sub all configured as a 5.1 surround system for your tv that’s also a single device. Hoping this makes sense so far. The Sonos amp is a single device from Sonos perspective and will play to all of its connected speakers. (Which I think is your comment?). Does this help to clear up the multi-room? Bottom line is that the amp is treated like a single “room” in the Sonos system regardless of how many speakers you have attached to it.

      @@Homekitgeek Yeah, this is helpful to understand. Essentially, I just how to plan and figure out how to wire my entire setup first. :D I def have enough time to do so. Thanks again.

    Hey Chris! great vid! I was watching this to get some info on how this two systems can work together. Will I be able to use the sonos beam with two synfonisk speaks and get it to sync with my lights using the sync box? Is that a problem at all? I'm still getting ready to buy the beam gen 2 and was thinking if this was gonna be an issue or not. I know that most possibly the music sync won't work since if I use the ARC port in my TV the sound will go straight to the Beam and not go through the Hue Sync Box, but for the rest am I good?

    Great Video! I am setting up my system and was wondering if you had to do anything special with your sonos system integration with your HDMI sync box? Did you connect your arc or sub to the sync box?

    • @HybridGhost0

      Also wondering the same, did you find a fix?

  • @delireboris
    @delireboris Před 3 lety +1

    hey! thanks for this. I was wondering if you could get to play some music from your phone or mac on the sonos and get the huesync to work. I'm stuck there, and I believe that I must use google assistant or Alexia. Can you share your experience with that?

    • @Homekitgeek
      @Homekitgeek  Před 3 lety

      Absolutely! This is possible, but you have to remember how the Hue sync box works. It will only be able to provide the lighting affects for video/music streams that come through the box itself. So you won't be able to use your phone/mac unless you have an HDMI cable connected from them directly to the Hue Sync box. If you want to use the Mac, there's a video that Eric Welander posted ( link in my video ) that uses the Hue sync application that you could use to control the Hue devices directly from your mac as well. You can't play directly to your sonos ( no HDMI output ) or airplay directly to your TV as that signal won't pass through the sync box. You COULD airplay to your Apple TV, or cast to a good device who's HDMI output is plugged into the Sync box though. Hopefully this will give you some ideas?

      Hey IRK... Yeah - I'm really struggling with the audio right now and I really appreciate the feedback and your patience. I've also noticed this has gotten worse and trying some things to fix it. Last video I switched to a completely different mic (rode lav) and still found issues. This weeks video will be moving to another setup using a maono podcast rig to see if it makes a difference. I'll continue to work on it until we get it right. Thanks again for the support, feedback, and patience. :)
