I have watched Allen lay it out since his college days! We don't know how he does it, we just accept the fact he does! Never have I heard anyone play sixteenth notes and every other note is a two octave jump! He is incredible and doesn't even look like he is working hard! 🎺🎵🎶👍
The first time I heard him was with Woody in the mid late 70's Danny D was on drums. I know Danny some. He had been playing with Maynard. He said to me during the intermission, "check this out." I was blown away. Woody had a pretty tight group then. Jim Pugh was on trombone, Danny on drums, Dennis Dobson, and Allen playing trumpet. 😎😎
@@brucehehl5688 Yes indeed Bruce! Woody had some great bands, didn't he! I remember when Dave Stahl was playing lead trumpet with Woody. They would play the Carol King piece "Corizon". It started soft and kept building. Stahl would smack that double high "A" and blow the wall down! My where did the time go? Have a Great Day! 🎺🎶🎵

I saw Allen way back, it was around 1975ish and he was playing with, It was Woodie Herman's band. It was at Shaw high school gym in Metairie Louisiana, just outside New Orleans. I heard someone play trumpet like I never heard before. I didn't know who he was, and I only saw him from the side. But some how his facial structure stayed with me. I'm on youtube and just to the right of the page there's a video of him and one of them looks like what I remember him looking like. So as the internet came along, some years back I started watching videos of Maynard Ferguson and don't you know a video popped up with the guy I remembered from the side view and I'll be damn it was the face of that guy I saw playing the horn back then that I never knew. It was Allen. I was a local trumpet player myself from New Orleans. So when I saw it I said self that's the guy. Until now I didn't know he was 2 years younger than me. So when I saw him he was around 22. With that said I have followed him ever since. Great trumpet player
Allen is a god. My jaw is always on the floor.
a really good demonstration of the facial muscles used. I don't think I even own some of them.
His tone is one of a kind, and it’s like that at all dynamic levels, and throughout his useful range, which is ridiculous and very, I repeat very very rare. Most guys can either play super high, with crappy articulations and crappy tone, or they can’t play high, but have a great sound in middle and low register. Allen Vizzuti consistently plays all over the horn with a huge majestic, dream like tone, and does it from the pedal register all the way to notes that most people can only dream of being able to articulate some day lmfao
im one of those people with the range and crappy tone lol im in 9th / concert band and my director gets so mad when i play my 2 octave d and e scale because he says it sounds forced which it does because im really starting to get the hang of bs and (maybe) cs i really only play those for sport. He thinks i cant play high which i understand cause at the beginning of the year i was trash because my 8th grade director quit mid year 😭 im trying to work on my sound up there because to me id rather be able to make a 3 pointer with horrible form because i can always gradually fix the form you know
@@nuclearnacho2468 Important to have a professionally trained teacher, although there are some under the radar embochure doctors out there, one who even builds mouthpieces to suit an individuals dental and lip structure. I’d ask around, I think Freddie Hubbard traveled to Vermont to see a lady, when his chops once crashed
Allen Vizzutti is the one that I can't figure out what he does to seem so effortles in playing what ever high or low he ever plays. Master of art. Damn, one can only praise.
Bone player keeps watching, smiling, shaking his head, thinking, "I know this guy isn't human cause that's not possible!"
Best take of this I’ve heard by far, double c at the end is just the cherry on top that I was not expecting at all!
I think he was def in the zone that night. He jumped up to that double c so cleanly.
Vizzutti and Louis Dowdwell are the most relaxed high note trumpet players in the world.
As a trumpet player, this is mind-blowingly awesome. If there's any guy out there to model your "ideal tone" after, it's this guy.
I love the story where Allen Vizzutti asked John Madrid "how do you make it look so easy?". What does that say about Madrid's playing! This is a good take of Fire Dance, and popping out the C at the end is a crowning touch.
That C at the end belongs to Donny Dyess 🤓🎺
Allen is definitely one of the world's best trumpet 🎺 players ❤
Remember Allen’s high note instructional workouts and lessons back in the 80’s. Even playing lead at times you were looking at the sheet music counting lines to see what some of the notes were. Fun times.
MY GOD!!! WOW!!! Haven't seen this until Today and just FLOORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally absolutely right He's like a fine Wine - gets BETTER with age. WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow - he's really on it. He's always been amazing, but if anything his upper register is improving with age!!!
Totally, he has never stopped getting better
Unbelievable impressing sound through the complete register...
With those high notes his face is still relaxed . amazing!!!!!
Allen "the absolute best" Vizzutti! Been a fan of his for over 40 years and he is simply amazing to see and hear in person. He really makes his horns sing so beautifully.
So underrated trumpet player
Its just so damn effortless for him. Every not is so clear, both in high parts and in fast parts. The control of his instrument is insane.
Vizzutti is not a normal human. I mean does he even have to try to be so freaking good?
DAMN. I’ve watched a lot of videos of him playing Firedance, this is maybe the best one. He was ON IT.
I never tire of watching this. Barely any tension, minimal amount of air for those 16th note 2 octave jumps. This guy is the gold standard across all genres, much like HJ was back in his prime.
HJ?

He's a monster..... all of us trumpet players know this; Agreed, just accept it... he's a monster.
I had the privilege of hearing him do solo, Carnival of Venice in front of the Washington All- State Choir. The choir, 500 voices, sat there a he simply jumped up on a table in the middle of the gymnasium where they were rehearsing...... jaws on the floor, no kids talking, eyes all on him. Damnest thing I ever heard. Just him, his trumpet on a table, playing the shit out of the Carnival......😊
At first I thought he was miming to a pre-recorded track, so still were his lips and face. Incredible bright and sparkling tone with seemingly little effort, but of course nothing is without effort - probably years of technique and practice training in addition to natural ability.
💯 correct
Have you ever played trumpet?
Allen is the man
The whole band watching him... because he's phenomenal!
Wow. Just wow. How does he do it?
Ive been listening to this song since I was a trumpet player in highschool over 20 years ago. Still one of my favorites, and this is one of the best recordings too. And still completely mesmerized at the virtuosity on display here, makes me want to start playing again
Next year he will be doing this same solo using a trombone mouthpiece.
My favorite Allen's tune is 'Fire Dance,' but I was wondering why it's not included.... It sounds so clean and neat! Thanks for uploading the video.
❤ Amazing trumpet technique and power ❤
This is insane! 😮💨
The master make it looks so easy that he lacks showmanship 😀. Playing trumpet like that is reserved to the gods . 🙌🏾 😶🌫️✨️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👌🏾✨️💯
Been a while since I’ve heard him go for the Double C on this piece! Nailed it
Thank you for sharing this. In my lifetime, I have seen a lot of trumpet players perform live. Two stand WAY out:
Doc Severinsen --> took my breath away
Allen Vizzutti --> made my jaw drop
Slightly different genre, but I heard Maurice Andre live, once, when I was in my teens but it stays with me to this day.
@@mjd4174 I saw him in college in the early 80s
When you put it all together: tone quality, precision, technical ability, creativity, full range and sound throughout that range. He has to be one of the best, if not the best trumpet player in the world.
@@advancedcaredentistry8828 Personally, I think that at his peak (and he's not far from his peak even at age 70) he was the best wind instrumentalist in the world.
There was Doc, and then Allen!!!
Fantastic😊
Absolutely phenomenal.
Toujours aussi impressionnant.I
Amazing performance by Allen!!! Hahaha it's incredible he keeps doing better and better, what an improvisation!!!!!😮😮😮😮
Why wasn't the venue full/sold out?
That’s what I’m thinking! The amount of world class talent in that building is just crazy!
He mirado varias veces excelente trompetista genial interpretasion
Wow. What a sound! From a different planet.
Undoubtedly that day the mouthpiece was raised. Incredible technique does not move anything
So relax...
Amazing
Allen Vizzutti is at the top of his game right now!!
What I’d give to be holding that camera right now
He’s in very good shape, wow 😮 !
Wow, the band is tight.
A Beast of a Trumpet Player!!!

Esse trompete é em dó?
Amazing as always, but please just get a tripod or find someone that can hold a camera ;)
What band is this and where did they play ? Saw him, Doc and Maurice live and they were all breathtaking. Thanks for posting this.
Это не человек!😮
It would be nice if Vizzutti would put a little effort into what he's doing every once in a while.
It's those.razor thin lips. I'm telling you that's the secret to his tone. It's just like the reed on a saxophone and why sax players don't use thick ass reeds lol! It is physiologically IMPOSSIBLE for guys with larger lips to achieve this without working 10x harder.
yeah that can help a lot. Although it comes at a price: shitty kissing
If you didnt believe in God before watching this...what's your excuse now? Lol
noy many better at this craft we call trumpet
Clifford Brown is a 1000x more musical.
Didn't know that ed sheeran plays sax
