I wrote this song on the train. We were passing by a field of sunflowers when I noticed that all the flowers were turning to face the sun, in unison. Like sunflowers, my family made a choice to follow the sun, and one by one, they came to America and built the life that my sisters and I are able to have because of their sacrifices.

I love this. My dad moved us here when I was 2 from Sicily. I didn't really appreciate what sacrifice he made until I was older, leaving his home and family and everyone he knew when he was 22. Crazy brave. So proud of him.
