    Hi Jay,
    We love the content and think you are a great teacher. We are a relatively new maths channel and any tips on how we could improve our content would be much appreciated

    1:36 if the highest power of x in the numerator is the same as that in the denominator, would the fraction become improper? Having some trouble understanding how there can be no constant if highest power is x, your help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello thanks for the video. But why did we use x= -1 & x=0 ?

    • @MathsWithJay
      @MathsWithJay  Před 2 lety +1

      -1 makes x+1=0, and we can't make the other bracket zero with an integer, so 0 is the next best choice

    The last part where u had 7=A+C got me confused. Why did u pick just the coefficient of x^2 and A+C leaving the other terms?

    • @MathsWithJay
      @MathsWithJay  Před 2 lety

      Because we already know B and C, we want to choose an option that includes A and one of B or C ( or both B and C). There are many options. I could have chosen to look at the coefficients of x....that would give 3 = A + B. If you are not happy with equating coefficients, you could just sub in another value for x...x=1 would be a good one to choose.

      @@MathsWithJay because i saw two different answers for this situation, either separate it into two linear terms or keep it as a quadratic term. Is it because it is more convenient to do integration when we separate it into two linear terms?

    7x^2 + 3x - 14 / (x^2-3)(x+1) aren’t the highest degree of powers in both the numerator and denominator
