Your homestead is such a happy place. Pretty flowers, fun animals, green and shady, and off grid. What a great place to spend a day and just chill.
And Katie was right!! LoL
It looks like there are never ending projects in your lives living the way you do. I think that keeps y’all happy and healthy as well.
BC concrete workers rocking the flip flops on site! 👊🏻
Safety flipflops please.
I love how Hinto is always there keeping an eye on Steven.. so sweet..❤
What an amazing couple you are, turning your hand to anything and being such wonderful animal whisperers! 🐐🐕🐥
Katie you REBEL!! 😂🙌🏻❤️ Just keep watering it around the sides over the next few days and it’ll soak it up. Looks awesome guys, and Steven is so adorable!🥰❤
You two are my favorite channel to watch on you tube. Love your content !!!!
Hard working young people, striving to succeed in whatever project they start😅❣️🌼🌷🇺🇸
Happy you are making power shed & then you have a 2nd bedroom that is a great upgrade! 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Steven is getting ready for the goat Olympics his jumping skills are outstanding 😂 So cute.
Katie and Greg, it looks good, and all I have to say is nothing ventured nothing gained ❤️🇨🇦
Greg is right do a update video in a year when it’s crumbling apart lol good luck
I love baby goats how they jump around it’s so beautiful and cute here from Ontario canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
So nice to the dog is the bodyguard
So cute. Did a great job
The baby is so cute! Considering his rough start he is doing great
I know nothing about concrete and so have nothing to offer on that (aren't you glad!!), but I do know that watching you both work on everything you do with such positive and cheerful attitudes is a big reason why your channel/videos are so compelling. Plus, Steven of course! Not to leave out your other animals, but OMG baby goats are the best!
I like the PPE! Dust mask, and safety sandals.
Köpek yavru keçiyi nasıl güzel koruyor ❤️
The dogs just wanted in on the act!!!
Steven is gorgeous and so tiny ❤. Hinto never let's him out of his sight, first class babysitter there!. Nice job of the dry pour, very little touch up to do. Well done guys xx❤
Your dogs playing are so adorable, ❤
I love watching that little kid jump it so kool lol
I like how you used the paint roller to smooth out the top. 👍 proud how good you both did
Jay and Jen ❤ did this also remember to always be respectful to each other and not let the work come between you work it out together!!
It’s like this, we specify a hard steel trowel finish on our Flatwork, run a machine over it and make it shine almost like a mirror and then it can stand up to a warehouse floor scenario. All just by adding water first. And don’t forget to add pure grout to the bags of concrete just a coffee can per bag of concrete out of a 94 pound bag of Portland grout otherwise it won’t set up for two days just a coffee can does it
Your grass looks beautiful!!!
Concrete is amazingly porous....for good or bad. You would need to spray it some to help with curing even on a wet pour. It will absorb a lot of moisture out of the ground too
Ya, forgot to mention Greg... always soak that base material. So the ground dont sponge the concrete water out. 👍👍
Looks great! And that lil boy loves y'all so much! Love your videos!
I absolutely love little Steven! I've been waiting for the little goat antics of hopping and jumping and got it today. He was so darn cute up on that blue tote when he'd do his little hop and jump! The place is looking beautiful you guys and the slab turned out very well. Congratulation on getting that done and I look forward to the next one, where I'm sure you will be building the power building. Have a great week you two. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Brilliant idea to do dry pour concrete, cajun country living use it all the time.😊
Yall should add a pond in your property to drain the water from your house and maybe it'd be a good reservoir for your livestock to drink from
I agree, some sort of rainwater catchment would be a great addition
@@ExplosiveLandmine we won’t see rain for a few months though. We’d need mega storage for it to last the dry period
Great place for mosquitos too!! Just sayin!!@@ThisOffGridLife
I would go down and rent a floor buffer get the sanding pads and polish it up and then seal it up... I like the look of polished concrete
Thanks for letting me know when you send a new video I like watching you do your thing thanks again!
Awesome!!👍Ive looked at dry pours, not traditional, but hey, it worked. Ive poured a ton of house and garage slabs when i worked with my Pops building houses. Tips for All concrete projects. Get 2 tools. 1 for the corners, 1 for the smooth finish. Its fun putting a finish on in the afternoon... Always cure as long as possible. a slow cure is actually stronger. The next morning you could spray and Tarp over and over for 3-7 days. Then take forms off. But starting with base, pack, steel and wire, Absolutely the best way for Home projects. Congrats yooz all, Steven is a Funny guy😁🤙🤙Be blessed youngsters. 🙏🙏🙏
Nice video glad Steven is doing good he's awesome.
You guys should of used the Mud mixer for that instead of dry pouring it but other then that love the videos and keep up the good work
It looked to me that you did a good job with the tamping and screeding and got a solid base ..Well done ..I think the people who get failures have not put the work in !!!!!!!!!!
Good video!
I'll be interested to learn how you will keep your batteries above 0 degrees C - 32 degrees F during the winter...since you can't charge below that temperature.
I'm off grid on solar and am considering moving my system out of the house and into a shed....but I likely need to provide some kind of low wattage heating pads, insulated cabinet...or something.
Hi Katie & Greg & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Katie & Greg & Friends Randy
woooow preparing the new bed room for the future baby 🥰🥰🥰
Katie, another fine introduction and your music blends with your excellent content. The slab turned out looking very professional. Blessings to you folks.
I will say that a wet pour is the same handling of the bags. Mixer can be inside the forms so no wheelbarrow. Screeding and Troweling is the same. The plus is you can strip forms same day as it was poured and build on it the next day. And I use rebar on all my slabs. So for the work I’m for standard pour. 😊
Great job guys. I never doubted you for a minute. I want Stephen. He is so cute.
Learning by own mistaken, might be unpleasant sometimes, but you own to it.... Keep going Katie & trooper Gregg.
Looks great work smarter not harder. Just a shed for batteries not daily or heavy traffic days.
Good job, you did TOGETHER, BUT I will not dry cement, the strength is not the same, a lot less
Dry pour Concrete wearing flip flops. Good luck chiseling out the between toes concrete👍
I agree with Greg. Don't use on a big project. Glad it turned out. I watched Jay and Jen do it also. Their sidewalk turned out fine but also issues at dirt level. We'll see what the winter brings.😊
Its good idea I will try it as a sample in my dogs home
one thing you might do is find some big rock the Greg can with tractor and put some place that the nugget can climb on
I poured my Dads driveway the right way with Truck Mixed concrete in maybe 80 degrees with an East wind and it set up in 10 Minutes with thousands of surfce cracks.
So what you are really saying is that you did not pour your Dad's driveway the right way.
yeah small projects only - you pushed it at 8x10 - also next time vibrate the sides esp corners to get it down better - 2nd bedroom sounds like kids in the works???
The goats, dogs & chickens are their “ babies”.
You guys are so real. Very much enjoy being able to live vicariously thru you Thank you
Hello everyone ❤ Nice to meet you ❤❤❤
Fast forward during yaking time.
Now I don't think dry pour are bad, but most people just dry pour for steps and walk way and landing but I have not seen one for whole building on it so , good luck
Its looking good. Great little project so far. I like the old concrete mixes better. They have worked for centuries. I sure love the baby goat, hes so cute. Having a second bedroom will be big addition. Hugs from Santa Barbara 🤗😘🍷😎
Love the baby goat. You two are so fun to watch
Love that there are so many experts in these messages who probably haven’t poured concrete either way 😂
Just keep doing it your way ❤
There is a right way and this is not it.
@@dhgifts how many dry pours have you done?
That really turned out looking very nice👍
Hi, I am from North Queensland Australia and I love watching your channel keep up the great work. John Irvine.
Good Luck, you are your own "BEST CREW", Be yourself!
Road base isn’t usually such fine rock. When I built my driveway (240’) we used pit run. Basically 6”- . Then 3/4”- on top after packing. Hasn’t moved or sunk in 43 years. Dump trucks, well rigs, and dump trucks have not affected it. People seem to put a much too small of rock on top of dirt or sandy soil. Bad idea. 😊
that siding on your house looks great, nice pattern
Great Job 👍🏽 fantastic idea Katie 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Steven is too adorable ☺️
Are you planning to heat and cool the building for the lithium batteries. Ambition Strikes channel installed a Mr. Cool on their power shipping container. Lithium batteries have a temperature range that they can be used in and another temperature range that they can be charged in. They can't operate in freezing temperatures and if you charge them below zero deg C you can permanently damage them.
OMG Gregg was free balling it, I think he need to hose himself down hehe
Good idea moving power!
Looks like Hinto has a new BFF!!!!
I am so in love with this little goat❤
hmmm.....It is important to keep in mind that dry-pour concrete may not offer the same level of strength and durability as wet-mix concrete. Dry-pour concrete can also be more prone to cracking and shrinkage, which can lead to structural issues and the need for costly repairs over time.
Project Farm - YT comparsion /tests guy - did a video on wet vs dry concrete which he confirmed what you said !
@@bennym1956 do you have a link? I watch all his videos and that doesn't sound like his type since there isn't a product to test. A google search didn't find anything either.
Great videos guys, not a fan of dry pour concrete but if I was going to do it I would wet the area down till it's very wet, when concrete dries the water comes up thru concrete not down thru it and wet it down again when you get the layer of your reinforcement down, keep up the good work!!!
Definitely go with the dry pour. We need to see how bad it could go. 😁
it looks great. i hope it last for you. just remember to put heat in the shed for he batteries in the winter. GREAT JOB!!
Always pull your forms away from the concrete, never up, or you could damage the edge.
Today was a milestone for all of us! You poured your first Dry Slab and it turned out AMAZING, and I edited my first CZcams video for our own channel, and IT turned out about as well as you would expect. Music volume all over the place, quickie intro title, and no real other editing other than speeding it up to 5 to keep from boring folks to death. It really makes me appreciate all of the hard work you have to put into your own videos to make them look so professional. I'd love to see a video from you about how you go about making and editing your own videos. I really need some inspiration, and I figured why not go to one of the best channels on here to learn more.
Very hard workers. Love your animals. From Kimberley BC😊
it will be fine you all work so hard as always loving your videos thank you so much
Great job you two
Good job Katie & Greg❗️
Hi Greg and Katie well you sold me on the dry pour concreting and I expected it going tits up but that looked so much easier than heavy wet concrete and then having to barrow it round to where the job is as we can’t get a car near it never mind a concrete truck in fact you made it look that easy I’m sure my good wife can do it herself I can sit and supervise to ensure she gets it right. This must be the first time I’ve looked forward to a concrete job. Thanks a lot it’s nice to learn something new. P.S. Katie you suited the wild hair ❤❤ 💋
You kids are so good to watch. You get things done. Katie works as hard as any man and still keeps looking like a Hott woman should. The dry pour worked great! I love the both of you and keep doing what you are doing. Steven is soooo cute!
WOW GREAT JOB, GIVE YOURSELF TAP ON THE BACK.
I know a house build channel that does the dry pour method a lot, and they've even gone to do a collab with another channel in colder climates that needed help with the dry-pour method at one point as well... they have a few videos up on it... its the Cajun Country Livin' channel, don't know if that's one of the videos you took a look at or not, but i know their videos helped other CZcams creators with similar interests in the past that resulted in the collab. Just something to maybe look into if you do decide to dry-pour the workshop side of the barn. Just to help with fine-tuning the details. But I think you did amazing!!
Been a big debate on YT about dry vs wet concrete pour. When tested, wet is stronger and will hold up longer than dry. See Project Farm on YT where he did the testing ! What I've done for small projects is spread out a layer of dry concrete , then water it with a watering can to wet it, use rake to mix it some, then repeat.
Looks good you guys and I learned a lot. Sorry bro Katie was right 😂 be nice to see 6 month updates on breaks and cracks but overall great job. Love how you guys work together and such a good team. Soon Stephen will be climbing and jumping on everything 😂. Thanks for sharing ❤
You're so lucky to have rain haven't seen rain here in Courtney for a while now and today at 6:30 PM it is 86 degrees too hot for me
Hahaha, Ever meet those people that ask for advice only to later say when someone tells me not to do something I usually try it? They usually end up to be addicts. Sure the pad will work but it will never be as good as a wet pour, that is a proven fact. Some people do not deal in facts, they live to experiment, yet project after project when they mess up they also have to practice acceptance and say it is what it is . Greg you have done a wack of pretty fine work way more than what shows on camera, without that the show would be about squeeky feelings from a trailer. Working in all kinds of weather in heights and sketchy situations you have built yourself a nice place. Mockingbirds chirp and chirp but they have their pecking order like chickens, blue jays look decent but will skreech like a hawk in order to get their way or rob other birds.
Steven is looking good 😀
Always enjoy your videos. Entertaining and informative of many projects. 😊
Katie Greg. Real good job 👍
As long as the dry mix is properly wetted down, the dry pour method of concrete is an awesome way to put in a smallish slab. Jupiter sure likes trying to annoy Greg when he's on the tractor..😂 Love ya'll ❤️
love the new kid // the new baby
And you have the option to put a wood floor on top. Nice job
I'm with Jeff.
Hi great job on the new shed 🎉🎉🎉 well done ❤❤❤❤❤xxx
Nicely done Katie and Greg, the baby is looking really good and so is the concrete slab.
Humm, cleaning the 2nd bedroom… are you nesting? 😊
Hola buenas ❤😊 des de España Barcelona 😊 hun 👋
i am against the dray methode, but you did today a very nice job
I've not done a big dry pour, but I have done small ones successfully. The last was a 3X3 foot pad for a compressor in an open equipment shed. It came out perfect.
