Hmm...FDNY apparatus needs push bumpers. Maybe people will think twice about blocking streets.
MAYBE! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
that are stick some q sirens on there lol it osunds like air raid siren lol
Police got that down
I'm sure there's a mountain of paperwork for everything you push.
Sheriff Industries the only paperwork they should have to do is just leaving a pre written note on the windshield “Your car was damaged by the fire department because you park like a douche - The end”
Loved it when squad threw shade “hope it’s not your family we’re going to”
YUP......
Caleb DeCamville not shade, fucking truth brah...
You kiddin, all the better if it was.
IP Freely that’s a little extreme
While I liked the shade, the deliveryman was not in the truck. What was he supposed to do, read their minds that he needed to move his vehicle? Also, why not just back up and go around? For all they know he could be inside for ages. It's a city, why not just go a different block down
“ let’s hope it’s not a family member of yours “ lmao
YUP.....
Ironically it was the fire truck who decided to stubbornly wait in front of an empty truck instead of just taking a detour. Roads get blocked all the time. You improvise, don't just sit there and pray the delivery driver realizes you're waiting
@@Jomskylark but what the point of having Siren if you are just going to take a detour?
@@agentshivaji3919 um the siren is so people can hear u the detour is you taking another route to quickly get where u need to go .. Yes idiots should move though.. But still find another route if u can..
yes but you realize nyc streets are so packed it’s pretty much dangerous to back up to get to another road to detour on, and if you get wedged in by an illegally parked truck and a car behind you there’s no such thing as a detour.
I always thought that the FIRST rule of the road was to "Yield the right of way for ANY emergency vehicles". PERIOD. If I was a cop there I'd fine him AND have his vehicle towed away.
IT IS BUT THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
I think that there should be a designated rammer truck, to ram any idiots for being idiots.
Seriously, maybe have at least one black-&-white to cite any idiots.
That is correct, what are they called emergency vehicles for?
So firefighters can't plow through the block vehicle?
@@umarmujaahid1136 (as tempted as they may be) .... uh ... no (not to my knowledge).
There was a news report of a family losing their house to a fire in this area not too long ago. That family wondered why the FD didn't respond faster. This is why.
YES, VERY POSSIBLE INDEED. THANKS.
They should sue the bunghole who kept FDNY from responding faster.
They need to make like a fire response lane cutoff from the actual road so FD can have faster responses. Also a sign that says, "DO NOT BLOCK THIS LANE, FIRE RESCUE RESPONDING." you would be fined 250$ if you blocked it.
@@ThatOneFDriver Where I am, you get fined $11,000 or more and up to 2 years in prison for interference with emergency services. Lol
It's no easy to navigate your car thru town let alone a large firetruck
People have no respect man, like people don’t realize a few seconds can determine someone’s life like wtf man.
I TOTALLY AGREE! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
Exactly and we are the ones who take flak when people are understandable upset but are directing it at us for not being fast enough
But what about ME ???
@@xenotrixx Not true. the Germany law is a joke. if you block a Emergency vehicle you'll have to pay a fine (bitween 20 and 250 Euros).
I got with my command vehicle nearly every second call blocked by a civil car. and under 10 % of the drivers get ever punished. I report every driver to the police. and the courts do nearly nothing.
Sad fact: Most of these ignorant people who behave that way belong to the so called "Upper Class" (lawyers, bankers and such)
This is where we are as humans bro. If it took you this long to realize it I’m truly sorry
The joys of living in a large city, my respect for the for the firefighters
THANKS SO MUCH.....
They are awesome I have so
Much respect
It's not a big city thing. Rarely does this happen else where. It the classic "me" mind set of Americans
Sadly, entitled drivers are not a big city exclusive ... highway. how many people will clog the emergency lane on the highway.
Speaking as a paramedic working in NYC for many years:
blocking streets and refusing to yield is utterly rampant. Way worse than what it seems in any video like this. It is rare that the police and the traffic agents do anything about it. I see them taking action maybe once a year. Traffic agents don’t seem to concern themselves much with double parking, for reasons known only to them.
If I were to regularly bump or force these people out of the way I WOULD LOOSE MY DRIVING PRIVILEGES THAT DAY. If I scrape a double parked car, or bend their sideview mirror, I have to take myself off the assignment and do police paperwork. Yes, this is a threat to the people who called for help.
If I got on the PA and yelled at people, I stand to get into all sorts of trouble. It’s just not worth it. FDNY can get away with it, we can’t.
You can thank the lawyers and politicians for this state of affairs. Once upon a time, we would peel double parked cars side view mirrors off their cars, rather than be delayed responding to a sick patient. Those days are over. The liability for doing that is just spectacular. We and the police are way too closely watched to do anything like that anymore.
Again, thank the politicians and lawyers, who are never concerned with an overall concern for what is good and right. Only in appearing a certain way for their audience.
I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! IT IS A BAD SITUATION ALL AROUND! THX.....
Well said.
You’ll enjoy the video on CZcams of Montreal FD moving a few cars aside including a police car.

And pay the poor people who had their house burnt to a crisp.
@TransCube we need a law that lets cops slap parking tickets on cars that have drivers still in.
Oh take your time it's not like we're trying to put out a fire or anything
I KNOW RIGHT! THX.
We'll just let it consume half a block while you go get a pedicure
Or save someone’s life. A lot of times firefighters are also cross trained as EMT’s.
Katie Marie yeah that’s y they always send an engine and ambulance
It's maddening for sure, but why doesn't the truck back up and go a different way? It's New York, streets are gonna be blocked sometimes. Gotta improvise
Being a delivery driver in NYC must be a job from hell. Looks like many customers don't have loading zones next to their stores, so delivery truck drivers need to double park and deliver their loads as fast as possible. They probably say a little prayer right before a delivery..Please Lord don't let an ambulance or fire truck show up while I'm inside trying to get my invoice signed.
I HEAR YA AND UNDERSTAND! THANKS SO MUCH.....
There should be at least one box truck length space on every block with a store reserved for trucks at ALL TIMES.
And the fine for parking there should be the same as parking in a bus lane
My Dad was a Firefighter for 35 years and he said that towards to end of his career he had noticed that drivers have less and less respect for the sirens on the trucks and refused to move to the right and stop.
In his earlier career he was stuck behind a car that refused to move so my Dad's captain told him to push the vehicle through the intersection so he did and away they went.
He said he never was disciplined in any way and he's fairly certain the driver realized that they were in the wrong and thus by reporting would be opening themselves up to traffic charges for not moving out of the way of an emergency vehicle with lights and sirens going etc
I have asked firefighters and police what I am to do if stopped at a red light and an emergency vehicle is behind me honking and sirens going. Both told me to stay put, because if I pull out and there is an accident it’s my fault. So, unless I can safely turn right on red, I stay put.
THAT IS A GREAT STORY......THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING IT.....
I'm glad I don't drive a fire truck in new York because I would push everything out of my way
HAHA! COOL! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
doesnt that just technically eliminate the use of fire trucks?
because they are meant to help people not trouble them XD, but it would be nice seeing a nice tasty bit of karma

Here in NZ our fire service is authorized to push the vehicles out of the way in those situations. Same if cars are parked on both sides of the road impeding movement. They have, on the odd occasion, just driven the fire engine down narrow roads where illegal impedment often occurs and scraped past cars to ensure they are not impeding the way...
COOL! HOWEVER HERE THAT TYPE ACTION WOULD A VERY BIG PROBLEM FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND CITY! THX.
Yep same Sydney Australia 58 cars written off as the fire trucks cleared the road in Balmain to get to a double house fire. Now it's legal to park on that roads footpath. As the roads only the width of a car with both sides parked. Its legal life over money insurance paid.
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 that's the key though. they are authorized to do it. we would need laws authorizing the fire depts to be able to do it, and i don't see that ever happening because of insurance companies lobbying against those laws.
At least two of these vehicles belonged to a business who should terminate the drivers.
I AGREE. THX.
Not only that but they should be bared from ever taking any job where there required to drive and should lose one year privileges to drive per second that they delay emergency vehicles.
@@robert-73 what. lmao
@@robert-73 agreed
Theres companies that work in the city that have drivers and/or workers that have company vehicles with suspended licenses. THEY DONT CARE, there the cockroaches you find in the basements of these buildings, you see one, but they litter the streets. These trucks need a plow in the front and the law stating that fdny have legal right to do whatever they need to in order to get to the emergency. These same A holes block the block and next thing you know, it takes an hour to cross an intersection. These people need to have the hurt put to their cars to learn they shouldnt do this.. Tickets are like post it notes, they just throw them away.
I'll tell you right now, If I ever have a family member call 911 for ANY reason and I find out someone prevented help from getting there by blocking them like that, I'm going to be very..very mad.

Yep, I live in Australia and any time I hear sirens my first thought is where the f%&k are they?
@bradsmckay seriously! Whenever I hear a siren in my city (in Southern California), my head starts going every direction trying to locate that vehicle.

The fire truck clearly saw that there was a truck in the street and still drove in. It doesn't seem to be that urgent. In big cities there is simply no place for delivery vehicles. What are they supposed to do?

One of my students with special needs had a prolonged seizure at school. The seizure plan was followed and the ambulance was called. Unfortunately, the call was made just prior to dismissal time and the car lane was full with waiting caregivers. While that may work for say small cars. SUVs and trucks could cause damage to the fire truck. That is why every shift change the designated driver of a certain truck must perform a number of checks.

Absolutely no way I’m going to try and justify what the delivery truck driver did but just know that it can be an absolute nightmare trying to find a place to park in big cities and if you’re on a tight schedule it can be too tempting to block a fire lane or in this case a whole street. Businesses often do not accommodate the vehicles delivering their supplies in their parking layouts. You know firefighters are almost like cops when they hand out tickets but instead of traffic violations they write out tickets for safety violations. I remember this one time where there was an emergency response at a restaurant and one of their exit signs did not light up red and they got ticketed over $2,000 because exit signs have to be lit up red so it can be visible.
Depending on the jurisdiction and the firefighter's certification or job title, they can issue citations. Typically, it is someone in the Fire Marshal's office. The guys on this crew may be writing down the plate #, VIN #, etc to send to the Fire Marshal or NYPD ... and that entity *might* issue a summons.
YES THEY HAVE THEM BUT RARELY USE THEM! THANKS!
Correct me if I am wrong, I thought firetrucks can push cars out of the way by force if needed. Sure it will scrap up the nice paint job but it's a emergency!!
I AM NOT SURE WILLIAM.....
I was with a fire department in South Jersey and we would move vehicles as needed or break a window to get to a hydrant.
I HEAR YA! THX.....
Question John due the squads respond as pumps in there area or does somone else(engine)cover there first in just a curiosity as 18's is the only squad iv seen when in NYC
SOMETIMES THEY DO RESPOND AS ENGINES WHEN NEEDED! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
Those cars should be impounded and crushed and the drivers have their licenses suspended indefinitely.
HAHA! I AGREE! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
Never mind the cars, crush the drivers.
Battalion 8 used to roll out of the house sirens screaming, horns blasting! But since 9/11 the rough edge has come off somewhat. Do they still treat hydrant blockers to a bashed in window and a hose running through the vehicle? I doubt it, not sweet enough today.
THEY RARELY BASH WINDOWS......BUT THEY DO EVERY NOW AND THEN.....
That is NYC for you. In big cities, the fire department have it hard when streets are so congested that emergency vehicles can't get by? What also blocks emergency vehicles is railroad crossings and movable bridges such as drawbridges, swing bridges, and lift bridges, which it is really bad luck that the emergency vehicles are in the wrong place at the wrong time and get held up.
YES, I TOTALLY AGREE. THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
Wow, absolutely unreal! Is it just me, or does it seem like there's a ton of idiotic drivers in NYC? I'm in the midwest (Minnesota), and while the downtown areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul aren't nearly as big as New York, our drivers understand how to pull over to the side even in busy traffic and let whatever emergency vehicles through. Heck, sometimes when I'm going by a stoplight that has its white light signaling when an emergency vehicle is coming through and there doesn't seem to be one coming, I will still stop and check to see and hear if one could be coming regardless because the operators of whichever vehicle they happen to be driving takes priority over everything with the lives they have to save!
YES, WE HAVE QUITE A FEW IDIOTS IN THE CITY THAT DON'T CARE ABOUT NOTHING BUT THEMSELVES! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
This is why I cant be a driver for FDNY I would lose my job the 1st day I would push that truck out of the way
OK. THX.
Deliberately Blocking, interfering with or refusing to move for fire and ambulance should be a felony with no possibility of ever getting a license a minimum sentence of 2 years in prison, $10,000 fine & forfeiture of the vehicle.
I TOTALLY AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
In Dubai it is allowed for fire trucks to ram cars blocking the way unless there is something preventing the driver to move away. Oh and the blocker would pay for the firetruck damages. Also if a car was parked next to a fire hydrant, they are allowed to break the window to access the fire hydrant, the car will also get towed and impounded for a month with a 816 Dollars fine.
WELL, THAT WOULD BE A LOT DIFFERENT TO DO HERE BUT THANKS.
They need to give emergency responders the authority to move the vehicles themselves in cases like this
PERHAPS. THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
When necessary, and when possible, they should be allowed to use the fire truck to push the car out of the way - and then send the driver the bill for any damage to the truck.
I AGREE SAMUEL. THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
I'd bet that if these people got a $25,000 fine and permanent loss of driving license, nobody would ever do this kind of crap.
I AGREE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
The selfishness and thoughtlessness is stunning.
I TOTALLY AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
This is an educational video that is highly recommended by everyone who is driving. This is to help reduce the death rates caused by delayed response due to inattentive drivers who are not following the rules as discussed i the driver's handbook. Anyone should remember as they are getting their driver's license, it is NOT just as a privilege, but a responsibility that we all have and we must be committed to to remain safe drivers instead of risking the lives of others who are doing their part to help save lives.
I AGREE ANNE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
i really wish people understood the importance of time,,, only a couple seconds could decide the fate of someone’s life,, great video tho!!
THAT IS CORRECT! THANKS SO MUCH.....
There should be a 10,000 dollar fine for impeding an emergency vehicle!
I AGREE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
These are caused by two main issues: The city traffic planning did not allow enough room on the streets and there is no cost for failing to get out of the way.
Having delivery trucks in bike lanes or double parking is not the solution. Those that block traffic like that need a heavy fine, both to the driver and to the company. Cars that block emergency vehicles need a fine, but more importantly, they need time in public service and as ride-alongs so they can see the results of delays, like people dying, buildings lost, and so on. And not a trivial 5 hours of service, but make it inconvenient like 100 hours, 10 hours a week, so that it stings and isn't something done and forgotten in a day or two.
Fines only hurt poor people; the rich and well-off ignore them. But time served treats all equally.
I AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
