Ondura roofing in my opinion is the best way to go. It is quieter, doesn't sweat like metal, and the longevity is reallly good. Putting plywood sheeting down first, that roof will last 70 + years. Loved Melissa's hat.
Murphys Law states that whenever you drop something while wearing steel-toes, it will always always always, hit right behind the steel! Just saying......
I recently bought metatarsal guard-often called “met-guard”-boots after several incidents in recent years dropping logs or other things on my boot above the steel toe and each time being sore for a week afterwards. The boots have a high-tech fabric in the tongue that instantly hardens when hit, apparently popular fabric for sports clothing. I’m not brave / foolish enough to test how well they really work by dropping a log on my foot, but my 10 year old daughter did her own surprise test for me the first day I wore them, jumped on that upper part of my foot full-force with her heel, and all I felt was a little pressure. So I’m pretty confident now they’ll work well. This seems like the obvious way to go for those of us working with heavy objects and prone to injuring ourselves when we drop them. I doubt I’ll ever go back to plain steel toe boots again.
Melissa, I think the hat is fine. I do miss Fred,, the Fox hat. Thanks for sharing more of your talents. Perhaps you you could replace the very young Hanna video with a longer modern update. Hanna has her own quiet charm. It is also like seeing a rare bird, something to be remembered. I know being on camera is hard for her. Knowing the Morgans is a gift. Hanna's story, and her quiet strength touch me. God bless you all, friends.
The Turkey's are never around when you are hunting for them...just the way it works Mike! Cabin looks great now you have a fairly decent place to stay when you are in the dog house. Quote of the day: Sometimes life feels incomplete because it is. We are standing in one place waiting for something to happen when in reality we should be in search of our next great adventure. Your life is a masterpiece waiting to be painted, a novel waiting to be written and a not yet completed journey yet to be taken. Don't wait for something to happen. Get out of your comfort zone and create the environment for you to thrive. Wasting today while hoping for tomorrow leaves you exactly where you are. ~ George Wheeler
Mike, my Dad and I spent half our hunting time looking for firewood trees. He's gone 18 years now, but you made me smile! It must be a Pennsylvania hunting technique! Have a day!
Good morning, Mike and Melissa. No BF shopping here either. Our Thanksgiving consisted of going to the movies to see, "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood ". A delightfully wonderful story. Then, visited my mom in a memory care home. Life is good.🙂
Mike, please , please tie off a safety line when you're up there. The mini cabin is looking awesome, i'm so jealous. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the Morgans and all the viewers as well. Good luck deer hunting.
I'm right there with you Mike. There's no way I'm not going Black Friday shopping either. I can sit at home, drink coffee and get the same deals online. Like the hat Melissa.
Hi folks Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We don't have this celebration in Australia or New Zealand but it is lovely to hear all the things that you both are thankful for. My like tick today goes to Melissa for her hat and her mischievous and cheeky smile as she recalls Mike trying to deal with the wind and hurting his foot. Great work on the cabin Mike I am enjoying watching you with all your hard work and seeing it in the end results. You are very much a handy person and I love watching all the hard work both you and Melissa put in around your property.
Woohoo the roof is on way to go so proud of you . Up date good news the fire is out the danger of another explosion is over our town and home is safe . Port Neches Texas is safe .
Nothing wrong that hat. It looks warm and the colours are ok. I would wear it. The cabin looks good. The sound of weather on the roof is music and that material will not eliminate it but reduce it somewhat. Later
Hi this is Cary &Marcie from Florida ,I'm a former Indiana guy from @ near Poland Indiana, having a Log Home on the edges of Hoosier National Forest so I "can identify with Mike in the Aspect of loving the woods which is one reason I watch your videos religiously lol. Question tho ? Where do you keep the tractors n side side at nite when it rains or snows?
Melissa, your hat looks cool!. Who cares if the other one did not turn out right. They are not post to be perfect. Your's looks cools. Tell Hunter the Robison family said hi.
Just a tease - a ZZ Top hat and it is wonderful. Warm I suspect. Mike really knows the controls and quick motion direction to the work. Wish he had a 'harness' (think dog) with a safety 'leash' to the bucket. Love the sweater and the hat. Rats on the sweater.
Hey Mike, I couldn't help but notice your roof. You should have put a flashing on the bottom facia board or, extended the roofing out a couple of inches. This will help to keep it dry and help prevent it from rotting. The hunting shack is looking good as far as the rest of it. But at the end of the day, it IS your little hunting shack. I usually just watch and try not to be a critic. This time I felt you might want to know while there is still time to correct it without being very expensive. Hope you had a very enjoyable holiday and get your little project done without any incident. Good video and God bless you all.
Nice hat! 👍 (up vote) Once I found out how noisy metal roofs are I didn't care for the idea of using them on houses etc. Unless, you're going to use them for collecting water.
We built a cabin with that rubber roofing. One night the snow and ice melted and slid off the roof in the middle of the night. I thought the cabin was falling down the hill. The sound was ridiculously loud and sounded like an explosion. Got the heart beating fast at 2 am! But it installed very easily and lasts forever
We have horseshoes in Illinois . Its toast with a hamburger covered with French fries and cheese sauce . Or pony shoe for a smaller one. Accually they make all kinds of horseshoes now with ham, chicken strips, roast beef ect. Even breakfast horseshoes with eggs, sausage , bacon and hash browns in stead of fries
Malisssa hat is cool. Like the large loop look. Happy to see Mike using the man lift and being safe. Happy Thanksgiving to the Morgan’s, hope hunter had a good day. God bless America 🙏where such a great family can inspire others.
We used that same roofing on a shed the mistake we made was not putting plywood under it and it's sagging and cracking but it's 22 years old. So that being said your grandson will be old enough to replace it. Aj from Linesville PA
U can also apply that siding vertically and there again smooth or groove side out. And yes the man lift is the ticket, I was a journeyman Millwright and man lifts where just one of my many tools, from the small to massive large, my case upto 85 foot reaches four wheel drives. I love them. The old sain work smarter not harder and last but not least "SAFETY. FIRST". And hoping your thanksgiving was great.
I really like your hat and they are my favorite colors. Im a firefighter and our trucks are black over red. The black is in honor of the brothers we have lost in the line of duty and of course red for the fire department. Love you guys keep up the fun hard work.
Ran across this channel today! Really enjoyed seeing people living life like your family. Keep up the good work! Will watch when I get time! Happy New Year! The Bunch family. Minerva Ohio
Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving day with all of us!!! I went Black Friday shopping......bought a Stihl Chainsaw with 2 gallons of bar lubricant, a 12 pack of 2 - cycle synthetic oil and 3 pairs of Carhartt Logger pants! Now that is how Black Friday should be!!!!
Aww we like the hat. Ann said when you first appeared, "Hey that's a heavy lookin hat!" "Not known for her culinary skills"...Mike, "What are you making for dinner tonight hon?" Melissa, "Reservations." With regards to the roof, Mike Ann says, "ooo it looks like candy cane material!" Sorry to hear about dropping the board, I know that smarts big time...done it too many times. Looking forward to the Cheese Burger Soup recipe. Melissa if you make some of those hats to sell, Ann would like to buy one. Great video folks, thumbs up.
Kinda thought that you weren't known for your cooking when Mike said that you were going to your parents for dinner . LOL . French fries in your salad . Never heard of that . I do know that in England that they make a French Fry Sandwich with mushy peas . I remember you making your hats last year showing Hunter wearing his . Your hats are beautiful . I'm jealous . Don't know how you find the time to make them . Beautiful day today . No wind . 26 F . Checked the cameras at the border . Clear sailing . Looks like not many people are not heading over to the States to shop this year for Black Friday . Would love to see you cook something up Melissa . Your my BFF and that's how I like it . That was funny . LOL
Mike, My Brothers taught me to scab 2X4’s or 6’s across room and out the back about three or four feet then we would nail 2X8’s or 10’s to the two by’s and have a ready made platform to start the roof. Just crawl out the window and there you are. General knowledge learned over time. We all love you Melissa, ‘er Stephanie. Freedom Fred
Melissa hat looks great on you. You did a great job on it. About the steak salad first ever heard of it. Here in Texas we eat our steaks grilled , fries on the side also salad on the side. At least got to try steak salad never know if you like unless you try it. Great videos, Great family. Enjoy ya'll all the time. Mike you do good work on all your projects. Will be waiting on the next one.
I need to say that I'm thankful to be able to watch your videos and you keep my spirits high my health is not all that good so again THANK YOU I have come to love you guy just like family MAY GOD BLESS YOUR FAIMLY
Thank you for my daily "Morgan-fix"!! I always enjoy these moments, and Melissa, you do an awesome job of conveying what your family is all about. We need more Melissas and Mikes in this world! God bless your family!
#624 Mini Cabin roof coming together Keeps Morgans dry in stormy weather Melissa knits hats they look really fun Keeps her head warm when there isn't much sun Turkey hunt seemed to turn into a walk But that's ok good time for a talk Family and friends so full of love Appreciated forever from heaven above So much food we just sat down and ate But we all are wanting our next Morgan date!!
2 feet of snow , blizzard conditions this weekend in ND. Staying in the wood shop, fire up the John Deere snowblower. Keep at it mike ,cabin is looking good , like the fox hat better.
Hello Mike and Melissa, same thing here, for the last 2 weeks we don't see anymore turkeys, I think they know the calendar and they run away, LOL, you took the good decision by renting this equipment to complete your cabin. Here south of Quebec city near Maine border we have 10 to 12 inches of snow and it's cold. For your turkey the best is go to the grocery store, LOL. Have a nice day and take care for your Thanksgiving day.
Great looking beanie Melissa, if you make two more I will buy them for my wife and sister . Down here you can get steak and chips(french fries) with a salad, next time I'm going to try and mix the chips through the salad. The cabin is looking the business. Mike I feel your pain, last winter I took my steel cap work boots off to go into the house and I dropped a piece of firewood on my toe as I entered the house, broke my big toe, lost the nail and it hurt like hell.
Helk yel … Steak Salad with Fries .. Let me have a large one .. And Cole slaw and fries on a cold cut sandwich .. We got great things to eat in the Pittsburgh/South Western Pennsylvania .. You from other areas try these things who knows YOU MIGHT LIKE IT..
Hey Mike, love the channel. One thing to mention even though it's too late! Did lots of roofing in my younger days, looks like your OSB wasn't breaking on the rafters. All framing, whether 16 or 24 inch centers, has to have sheathing edges break on the center of the studs, rafters, trusses so your wall or roof is structurally sound. Cool that Melissa!
Hey Mike, the cabins lookin good!! Youre doin a good job so you dont need to justify how or why youre doin something a certain way. It seems to me theres always people telling you youre doing something wrong. Youre doing it right for you and your situation and thats what matters. Be like Buckin... you dont jistify nothin to nobody lol. Melissa I think recipes/cooking vids would be excelent!!! Theres been several times you have talked about making something and ive thot that sounds really good, i wonder how she makes it so i would love to see those videos!! Take care friends!! HI HUNTER!!! 😁 STAY SAFE!!!
You made a good choice on the roof material. Metal roofing is loud even in a light rain. I didnt insulate the roof on my shop and when its raining you cant hear yourself think. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Say hey to the family and yall HAVE A DAY👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Melissa, love your commentaries, I think you should do all the comments, that way Mike could get more done. lol Love your smiles and dimples. Keep on commentating!
Dropping said malicious item in one's foot just above the steel toe is par for the course. I had one job in a foundry where metatarsal guards were required as well. I thought those were stupid until I was walking out at the end of my shift and noticed something felt odd. I looked down at my left foot and saw the metatarsal guard was inverted so instead of forming to my foot it was a bowed away from it. I had no idea what or where I had managed that, but when I got home I got out a ball peen hammer and bent it back into shape and never thought they were stupid again. I like your hat, Melissa. Gives you a skier look. 🎿 Good job on the cabin. I need to check into one of those lifts. I have a big old dead cherry tree that is leaning hard into our neighbor's soft maple and I need to get it down. That may be the ticket.
Never heard of or seen it...French fries on salads? Maybe Shoestring Potatoes, the kind you buy in that round Can, you know the kind you serve with Chicken Ala King! Have a great day Melissa....I like your hat!
Looking good. I like your roofing choice. Mike, we guys don't go shopping. We go buying. We know what we want and we go to get it even if it's at Lowe's on Black Friday. Have a productive day.
Like the hat. Not going shopping. I'm going to stay at home and save 100%. Glad you didn't get hurt , but if you don't get scuffed up a little you haven't done anything. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
WIND! That stuff was WILD! That day I was bear hunting up on a mountain top in Northern Clearfield County. The winds picked up and I decided to video the trees getting bent over. Next thing I know, I'm tossed to the ground like a sack of potatoes when a 4" diameter tree limb fell on the top of my head! That kinda ruined the last hour of my hunting. I did get to meet some nice nurses and doctor at the Clearfield hospital where they stapled my scalp back together! I should have had a hat like that. The extra padding may have saved mt scalp.
Love the hat; love what's under it; and -- now that's out of the way -- I want to bug Mike with two thoughts: Felt and drip edge. I felt compelled to do that because he probably doesn't have enough jack-legs telling him what to do, already. I love these videos. Coffee, Elizabethan Mixture pipe tobacco; my German Shepherds curled up at my feet, and a major winter storm descending on Colorado ranch country in a few hours. Love you guys.
Being a roofer, felt / underlayment is basically only necessary to protect roof deck till you get the permanent material on. I would however have definitely put drip edge on around perimeter.
Ondura roofing in my opinion is the best way to go. It is quieter, doesn't sweat like metal, and the longevity is reallly good. Putting plywood sheeting down first, that roof will last 70 + years. Loved Melissa's hat.
You guys are awesome. Mike, you sometimes comment to explain things further to the negative comment makers. Just ignore them.
Murphys Law states that whenever you drop something while wearing steel-toes, it will always always always, hit right behind the steel! Just saying......

at 49 years old MELISSA YOU ARE STILL A BEAUTY AND WILL BE FOR YEARS TO COME!
Melissa, I like your hat. Its nicer when you make it yourself.
Nice hat, looks warm!
I'm thankful for y'all 😊
Mike I say build that cabin as you see fit, don't worry about other people. Too many people always think they are right.
Melissa, I love your hat, both the pattern and the colors! Can’t wait for the recipe,
Melissa, I think the hat is fine. I do miss Fred,, the Fox hat. Thanks for sharing more of your talents. Perhaps you you could replace the very young Hanna video with a longer modern update. I’m with you Mike...I would rather pay regular price then deal with crowds.
nothing wrong with the hat looks plenty warm reminds me of my mom making hats and sweaters practise makes perfect so keep on doing what you like
making your own scarf and hat is always special so if it is possible I would like to vote 10000 times yes
Mike, my Dad and I spent half our hunting time looking for firewood trees. He's gone 18 years now, but you made me smile! It must be a Pennsylvania hunting technique! Have a day!

Love your hat Melissa ♥️. Your character matches your hat .👍🇺🇸
Any hand craft are great.
Melissa your beanie looks good as long as it keeps your head warm.
Mike, please , please tie off a safety line when you're up there. The mini cabin is looking awesome, i'm so jealous. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the Morgans and all the viewers as well. Good luck deer hunting.
we all love the hat melissa. anything you wear always looks good.
The hat is great. I'm a guy so fashion and colors are not my thing. It looks great on you. And I love that you made it yourself good work.
Like the hat. Perfect colors for a UGA Bulldog fan. Go Dawgs!!!
Great looking hat. Looks like it’s very warm. Thursday I was in Cincinnati oh. 65/70 mph. winds blowing my semi all over. God Bless carl

Mellisa if you like your hat that is all that matters. My wife has made several similar hats and she loves them.
Nothing wrong that hat. It looks warm and the colours are ok. I would wear it. The cabin looks good. The sound of weather on the roof is music and that material will not eliminate it but reduce it somewhat.
Later
Instead of shopping I am watching Outdoors with the Morgans!!
Same here.. Too many crazy people out there..
Melissa. Thumbs up on the hat. Nice job and looks warm.
Had my morning fix of Outdoors with the Morgans. Thank you for including all us folks, now to pay some bills LOL
I'm with you on that Mike. I have never went Black Friday shopping. That's what I credit my long life to.haha
Your roofing material is the best. I have used it for years and it holds up extremely well. (Hope I didn't jinx myself.)
Mini cabin is looking good, love the cap Melissa, can't wait to see more videos. God bless and be safe.
Love the hat. You had another one that a viewer sent. That one was awesome too.
I rented one of these last time i painted my house. It was as you said, “money well spent”.

We had those winds here in Vermont too. Power went out in the middle of cooking the turkey, so we had to finish it in the gas grill. Came out great!
Nice, way to overcome !
I think you hat is awesome Melissa. I am all about red and black. Wear it with pride .
We got the wind yesterday. Went 50 miles down the Garden State Parkway to see my in-laws. Every car was fighting not to change lanes to the left!
Love the hat! I'd wear it! Great job, Melissa!

I love the show, I'm glad to see making headway on the mini cabin. Keep doing what you do. Maybe you could film your deer hunt from the cabin.

your hat is awesome Melissa
I love your hat!! It looks great on you.
Have a fabulous Thanks giving 👍🏴
Melissa, love your commentaries, I think you should do all the comments, that way Mike could get more done. lol Love your smiles and dimples. Keep on commentating!
Wonderful hat!!!
Great job enjoyed that!!!!!
Sound like a Great Thanksgiving Day! Family, food and building the mini cabin!! Looking forward to today's progress!
@@TheFirewoodHut Yeah, I just figured Mike needed more unsolicited advice, since he seemed to be in short supply. :)
@@addisongardner1989 that comment gave a good laugh,
