Impossible to tell at any one point how many are actually left. The pop report only shows how many of a card has been graded previously, but there is no check after the fact that they all still exist as graded cards. Some get stolen, destroyed, or broken out of slabs for re-submission. People rarely tell PSA to remove those entries. So.. just take pop reports as a VERY rough guide. Value can plummet if some random pops up with a bunch of these sealed packs they've been hoarding all this time. Was there ever a record kept on the print numbers? Cause these packs would have numbered in the thousands

Broken literally a couple dozen 1952 Bowman baseball sets made up of cards pulled from penny packs as well as from 5 cent packs so I have seen lots of cards with wax stains. Never seen a wax stain like the one pulled from that pack. I think that is what the back would look like if the pack were subjected to being reheated to resealing. My suspicion is that BBCE got it wrong on this pack being originally sealed. Additionally he had to struggle to peel the wax wrapper to open it and ended up having to tear it to get the cards out. Pretty confident that pack was resealed based on those two observations.

People need to realize that any Single Vintage Pack, regardless if it is Authenticated, is most likely a dud pack. Not fake, but a Dud. I will use myself as an example why. About 20 years ago, I opened a 1986 Fleer Basketball Box. I knew on average, there would be 2-4 Jordan's, most likely 3. And I did get 3 Jordans with about 14-15 packs left to go.
While the chance of a 4th Jordan exists in the remaining packs, the chance of there NOT being a 4th Jordan is much more overwhelmingly higher. And plus, I have never heard of anyone pulling 4 Jordans from a box before.
Thus, I got the remaining 14-15 packs authenticated and sold them off, and because they were authenticated, I got premium prices for them and actually made nearly the price I paid for the entire box!
I felt as sure as I possibly could feel that those 15 packs had no Jordans in them. At the time, no other card mattered, so after that 3rd Jordan was pulled, I viewed the those remaining packs were worthless.
Anyway, what I am insinuating is that most high dollar packs like this one, are "left over" packs from a box.
Hence, if you ever buy a single pack like this, you DO NOT open it, as it's most likely a leftover pack from a box where the high value cards have been pulled already.
And this also goes into the "scam" of a piece together box, ie., people can piece together a full 36 pack box with leftover packs.
Hence, if you are ever going to buy a high dollar Sealed box, it does not matter if it is Authenticated. What matters is of the Box is Authentcated with the inscription that it is FASC "From a Sealed Case", ie, not pieced together box.

I like this info, thanks. Very wisely notated. Being a total nerd-novice I wonder about these things. I saw this video online awhile back where someone did a break on a box of 1972 or 1974 Topps Baseball that they paid several thousands for and the box was sealed and authenticated by BBCA. After the first three or four packs the cards were all saturated with residue from the gum. I guess it seeped through the cards and they stopped the break. That's got to be a concern to anyone buying something like that, right?

I keep wrappers of packs I've opened just cause I like the wrappers. I paid $40. for three BEATLES wax wrappers from the 1960s just cause they looked so cool. If they'd had cards in them I never would have opened the packs. Of course, you wouldn't expect to get a GEM MINT 10 RINGO ROOKIE, right?

    • @TamTranTriZzle
      @TamTranTriZzle Před rokem +1

@@kylecrain6426 you are exactly right, it is a scum move. That was the only time I did that, 20 years ago, to be honest at the time, the Hobby was much different than it is now, and when I stopped opening the rest of the packs, it was more done so as an after thought, with no "scam intention".
But I share that story because when it's done today, the intention is clear by the person doing it. Open up 3 Boxes of a product, hope to pull the hot hits early on, and use the leftover packs from 3 boxes to make up a full box, and BBCE it.
But is it bad when all the major companies is doing it? Is it any different than Blowout or Dave Adam's or Steel City, get the case hits and then sell just the remaining boxes?
Main takeaway for me is that I do not hold any old BBCE boxes as a premium, but rather approach them with hesitancy, because the majority of the BBCE boxes were done at a time when no one cared to open boxes, so how many are suspicious?
Even Dave Adam's now have their own box sealing product which seems like a good approach.

Here’s why you’re not likely to hit anything with these certified vintage packs, including the 1986 Fleer basketball packs. The people who break the boxes open each pack until they hit the Mantle, Jordan, whatever is the chase card. Once it hits, and they have a good idea where they are based off the collation and the 1st pack opened, then the rest of packs are sent for certification. The odds of that same card in another pack in that box is very low.

As for collation after just one pack -- ONLY if you already know the sorting order of everything else in the stack of packs in most cases ...
You DO NOT always have to even open the packs on older wax that you can see through ...
Even 90 Score Hockey, which made an attempt to collate Lindros RC's in the middle sandwich of 4 cards ... those can also be searched .. just a bit tricky ...
