    About the wresting move execution: there was a style of martial arts used by Norsemen called Glima. While we don’t know exactly how the moves were done back then, it is still practiced in the modern day. However, it is possible for a Viking to do something similar to what Warlord based on a few moves I’ve seen on YT and even old drawings. Not exactly the same, but similar. Remember, not all wrestling moves are unique to a specific time and culture.

    30:22 my best guess based on his reaction was that he might’ve just meant to slit the throat and when he flips him, since the connection to the body was already weakened in a way, the counter weight causes the head to come off since Warlord looks kinda confused/ surprised for a second

    4:47 I don’t think it’s the fact that warden is fighting back where the warlord tries to get it out, in medieval times, swords would get stuck in the rib cage and it’s realistic because swords will get stuck and I don’t think warden is far enough for a shield bash because of how low the velocity would be.

    I don't have nailed down yet, but one thing I like about it is I always associate it with a vendetta killing. I don't see it as "goofy" I see it as warlord finding someone who has wronged him or someone he loved in the past. And at that point he doesn't care about efficiency or quickness. It's all about the horror and anger in the strikes. Just my take.

    Warlord and highlander are my mains, warlord was my first of course, I love him, his executions, some people don't like them cuz many aren't very flashy, (the opposite of highlander) but of many of the characters, I think warlord's are some of the most historically accurate, there's a reason the sword and board withstood the test of time, it's efficient, it's defensive and offensive, many people underestimate the destructive potential of a shield bash, especially with the edge of a shield, on deadliest warrior they actually measured a shield bash to the head by the edge of a spartan hoplite shield, it's numbers were comparable to being struck in the face by a car going nearly 40 miles an hour! It was even worse when you consider that force was on a surface to the face only a few inches wide, easily capable of cracking a skull open, collapsing eyeballs, crushing the nose into the skull, I love what they did with most of warlord's executions

    One thing to note with Smack in the Face is the Warden is looking over his should at Warlord before getting hit, which would increase lethality. I think the score is appropriate but that this wasn't addressed. When you maximally engage in one direction of your neck, your flexibility in other directions is dramatically reduced. This is why you can't look over your shoulder and bring your head down the same amount as if it was looking forward - you can move a fraction of that amount. So to me there is no doubt that that strike, which would definitely cause the head to shoot back a good deal, would have broken the neck at that angle. (His head does shoot forward into normal position just as impact occurs, but that looks more like gameplay stuff with the rigging than an actual intended detail meant for the execution)

    I really enjoy these ratings by you because usually I agree with you 100%. Only thing here I would like to throw my two cents in would be "Targeted Strike". You consistently rank executions worse if someone basically drops his weapons to choke someone out or whatever which is completely valid criticism. But Targeted Strike does the same thing - you don't drop your sword but you give your shield to the dude you're trying to kill with your sword which is highly contraproductive. Many other characters had points taken from them because of similar things but Warlord got full points for that.
    It seems like the execution implies that the Warlord did this move so often over the course of his battles that he knows exactly that every enemy will be confused if you throw your shield at them in the manner of "hold this for a minute" which is why he can use it as an execution. Here is my problem - not every enemy will be able to catch the shield, other enemies will catch the shield in a lower position so they don't have to expose their head to look up from behind the shield - which the Warlord counts on for this move to work.
    Sometimes there may be someone who uses the shield for defence after catching it which is also possible and makes this execution less realistic and or effective in my opinion. Too many things have to align and if anyone of those things doesn't the enemy will not only survive but you will have no shield anymore.

    Stuck like a pig: The idea of the execution is the fact that, in reality, when you stab someone with a sword or any kind of blade it's actually not easy to withdraw the sword from the body, and sometimes it can even be a very hard thing to do, look it up. You can't actually see that Warden is trying to keep the sword inside, if you look hard, you can even interpret Warden's arm movements as trying to get the sword out, it's just stuck there because the flesh inside the body creates a pressure against the blade making it hard to get it out.

    • @RavenKnightYT
      @RavenKnightYT  Před rokem +2

      Thank you for your condesending demand for me to 'look up' something I already am familiar with. Regardless of whether or not I do 'look it up' is irrelevant though for three reasons:
      1.) My point as to why the sword was stuck was because of the fact that Warden appears to be using his hands to hold the sword. And because we've never seen this problem before with swords stuck in the body creating this kind of resistance, I assumed it was Warden doing the holding.
      2.) Whether or not it's Warden or the blade stuck in the body doing the holding is inconsequential as it all goes back to my overall point: Warlord could have easily removed Warden quickly by hitting him off with the shield. There was no point swinging the Warden around when the answer is literally clutched in his free hand. This loses points for efficency, as he could have removed Warden quite quickly from his sword had he used an ounce of brain power.
      3.) If the sword had not gotten stuck, leading to the continued animation, then all that would have happened in this execution would be a stab to the stomach, and Warden would have died from that alone. Thus the only really interesting aspect to this execution is that Warden got stuck, and thus Warlord had to use more (unneeded) effort to remove him.
      Thank you for your comment.

    • @liaknoek
      @liaknoek Před rokem

      @@RavenKnightYT As I see it, first Warlord sticks the blade in, pulls once but won't come off, his next move is swinging the blade and Warden behind him, expecting the blade to come off with the momentum of the swing, yet it doesn't come off again to the surprise of Warlord, just then he decides to kick Warden off his blade with his leg as leverage. To me it's a normal reaction and looks really natural. The executions is literally called Stuck like a Pig, because the blade is stuck, there's no reason for the Warden to be trying to keep the blade in.

    Unfortunately warlord gameplay isn't my favorite and his early executions which were graded low for obvious reasons was another thing that kept me from the character it was interesting to see his newer executions get graded at 100 percent and those are my favorite ones he has and I would totally rock them if I liked his gameplay and moveset personally I play all the hybrids it's just something about them I always gravitate towards favorites being Highlander and Valkyrie

    I believe you're being very inconsistent with Warlord's points, and very lenient also.

    Why did warlord using a wooden shield get a higher grade for leathelty then gladiator with his all steel buckler which has the same mass as that viking shield, but less surface area? Doesn't seem fair if warlords shield punsh kills then gladiators should defenitly kill especily since glad used sow much more force with his punshes. Also for decaptations watch forged in fire. Pig heads and necks are much thicker then ours, yet they are chopping of heads with many weapons you say can't do that. I think you should defenitly rethink how you grade that cause sure it's often luck if a head comes of, but something like a viking sword can defenitly chop of heads even with one-handed swings.

      What evidence do you have that the buckler has just as much mass as Warlords shield? Could I see that source?
      As for decapitations, sure. I could watch forged in fire, or I could do actual historical research and find that decapitations are not easily done, and we have historical evidence to prove it. The problem with forged in fire is that they are specifically designing weapons with modern technology and techniques in mind. Not that historical swords can't decpitate (they can), or that they are of poor quality. I think Warlords sword can decapitate, but he is not doing it in a manner that would cause it so easily with a single one handed swing.
      Is it theoretically possible? Yes. But is it easy? No.
      And as for rethinking my grading? Nah, I'mma keep it the same.

      @@RavenKnightYT Bucklers you can look up online yourself, viking shields will be harder to look up. Or if you ever held decent replica's of a buckler and viking shield you would also figuer out what I mean. For why there aren't many records of people chopping of heads that one is simple most people wore armor in war. Your not easly gone take a head off when the person is wearing gambeson, mail or plate to protect there troat. Also when excution by beheading failed the reason people botherd to record that is cause it was rather rare. What about the other excutions were heads were taken clean of as normal that people diden't bother to write down? In streetfights taking of heads was a lot more common, I even remeber I read a story about someon taking a head of with a rapier, this wasn't in a cleanstroke, but still. You said in your video you would treat every karakter like they aren't wearing armor, sow are the sources you are using to judge what would happen to the body reflecting that aswell? If yes then I'm going to assume you might have done more researche then me other wise... I'm not arguening any futher with you then this cause that wouldn't go anywhere.

      No..a small steel buckler would be SO much lighter than a large viking shield like that, especially if the viking shield had a metal rim/coating, idk what kinda bucklers you've held, cuz they'd probably have to be like 3-4 inches thick

    Bro I feel like I’m fucking insane, am I the only person who hates targeted strike as an execution? Like everything about it is just so poorly choreographed that not even the slapstick humor saves it. He lightly tosses the shield as though it’s a tissue in the wind yet the victim staggers back as though they were punched by a linebacker, then proceeds to conveniently let down the lifeline that was thrown to them for no reason despite having full control over the shield, and just stands there stupidly afterward. Almost as god awful as that one BP execution where he throws the shield through someone’s neck. By far WL’s worst exe IMO.

      The main problem I have with the execution is that you give someone you mean to execute a shield for defence and completely trust in him being so confused that when he caught the shield he will look up from it. If he doesn't catch the shield it won't work. If he doesn't look up from the shield it won't work. If he uses the shield to defend himself it won't work. I like the execution but that is what makes it unrealistic for me.
