  • I grabbed this reissued classic in January and I already had the idea beforehand... A silver truck with a red chassis with the General striping! I got my idea from a single cab version I saw on a brochure! Power is provided by a Screaming Detroit Diesel 8V71! This project sure was intriguing and fun! Enjoy!

    That a beautiful build man. My uncle had one the only diffewas his had blue stripes instead of the box ones. I’ve the GMC and the Chevy Bison both. Definitely gives me the itch to get to building them. Lol.

      That's pretty awesome! I want the Chevy Bison version, I saw that they are bringing it back so we'll see! Hope to see your builds!

    Super nice rig John! I was noticing the instructions in the background. It just goes to show that you cannot just slap these models together in a few minutes, this takes hours! How long did this one take you? Was it your idea to give the the trick the "used" appearance, or was that part of the instructions? Nice work!!!

      Thank You Kindly Bart! It was my idea to give it some weathering. I was focused primarily on the motor! Yeah these kits are not an overnight build or even a day build! I typically spend 2 to 3 weeks on building a model kit depending on what's being done, how many parts they have. This GMC General was pretty easy with the exception of a few issues, the most annoying was getting the cab and sleeper secured to the frame. You have to use the hood to line it up properly. I got all my ideas for this one from an actual brochure!

    Did you use chrome silver paint for the exterior of the cab and sleeper

      @johngligo4049  Před 2 lety

      I used Rust-Oleum 2X Metallic Silver for the exterior of the truck.

      @@johngligo4049 alright, thanks Man.
      I was looking on the box of the kit and it was saying chrome silver but that just looks too silver to me.

    whats the best way to paint stuff?

    • @johngligo4049
      @johngligo4049  Před rokem +1

      I used Rust-Oleum Metallic Silver for the cab, hood and sleeper and Krylon Banner Red for the chassis! The engine was painted Detroit Diesel Alpine Green. The striping on the truck comes with the kit...
