Thanks for your reaction. Angelina performed two shows on February 29, 2024 at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas, where Elvis performed for 7 years. Angelina is a huge Elvis fan and has become friends with Priscilla. I was honored to be in Vegas for both shows and she is even better live.
*Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. She covered Elvis here however Elvis’ version was not an original either. It was a huge hit for him and his live version is epic. The song is about a toxic relationship and they want to go on but don’t know how. To me this slowed down melancholic version fits the story just right :-)
The video is gorgeous. The girls are here cousins and her sister. Time and the passing of time seems to be a theme in the video. She starts uncovering treasures from the past and this cover is an example of it. The girls getting older, might be an image of her growing up. And she brings the past and treasures of the past to the present.

Nice reaction! Actually, on February 29th, she she did a 1 night only concert/2 shows at the Westgate Resort, in Las Vegas, the same hotel and stage where Elvis had his 7 year residency. Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery in L.A.) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids, Aires and Athena. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and homage to The King!

The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins, the pre-teen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette and the piano player is Rob Christie, the Director of Republic Records LA Studio whom Angelina has been signed with since 2020 (age 14).

She does a cover of "How Great Thou Art," as Elvis did. She performed on the same stage as Elvis on Feb. 29th in Las Vegas at the Westgate. She speaks 4 languages, and plays the piano, guitar, and is 6'1" tall. She is the finest female vocalist to ever live. There has never been another with her combination of talents.

Love your reaction. It’s cool to have an Elvis fan check out Angelina (she’s a big fan of Elvis too). Just over a year ago (around Christmastime) Angelina had the good fortune to meet Priscilla Presley. They got along together well and really hit it off. Shortly after the holidays Angelina was devastated to learn of the death of Lisa Marie and she immediately sang this tribute as a way of consoling the family in general and Priscilla specifically.
Angelina has done a few tributes to those that have passed before us (too many, for such a young singer), and as is her case, she is dressed in black out of respect for Lisa Marie and Priscilla.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. ©

Angelina wrote new lyrics for two famous songs by Amy Winehouse, "Back to Black" and "Rehab" since it was inappropriate for a preteen to sing the original lyrics. For "Back to Black" Angelina wrote the new lyrics in the 24 hours prior to the recording, then needed just two takes.

The lyrics suggest this song was meant to be a ballad. I don't know why Elvis chose to Rock it. We know he sang magnificent ballads. In The Ghetto, Love Me Tender and many more. But Angelina sang it the way it was meant to be 😊

Actually this is not an Elvis cover. Mark James wrote, recorded and released "Suspicious Minds" one year before Elvis released his rendition. Personally
I get much more of the lyric's message from Angelina's arrangement and vocal interpretation than Elvis'.
