What a fun video! So many bucket list vacs of mine all in one video. I wish I lived closer as it would absolutely be a regular stop for me. One of these days though I’ll make it out there. These video from the convention have been amazing. Thanks for putting them up!

8:05… “Hoover canisters are very rare.”…Our family had a Hoover canister that was bought new in 1957 I believe. It was a teal colored square bodied machine that required lifting up the hood to install a new bag. It had a simple toggle silver colored off/on switch. And if you hooked up the hose on the bottom side, you could use it as a blower. I believe we were still using it during the ‘70s.
Fast forward to 2014: my packrat dad still had it during his last days. After hearing your comment, I kick myself even more for having thrown it out without so much as turning the toggle switch just to see if the motor still worked. (my money says it probably did) Of course it was in very sad shape. But knowing what I know now, I would’ve kept it even if the motor did not work. I probably would have donated it to your museum to have you restore it and display it.
Since 2014, until just recently, I have salvaged dozens of cheap vacuums that I found in or by a dumpster. (as if unconsciously atoning for tossing that 57 year old ‘57 Hoover). Most of them were just not taken care of very well. People would now rather buy a new one, than clean out the old one or replace a belt. What I did not keep or give away to friends and family, I gave to the Goodwill.

I want to visit this place one day, being an enthusiast and collector myself, but it's a long way from Sydney Australia. I want to see, touch and try.
The USA has some amazing machines, I have never seen or heard of some of the brands. Fantastic
    😀

Tom completely restored a 1979 Kirby I found in a house I just bought. It was so fun to see his store and talk to him.

So I would have liked to see the Vorwerk VK120 and the VK 117...it's amazing that they made it from Wuppertal across the Atlantic, the burst from the VK 117 is interesting because it is not identical to the European model, even if it is an Et10 I live 20 minutes from Wuppertal, the mother city of Vorwerk

The Rainbow vacuum cleaner. Always told people they were good if you filled it with cement and used it for an anchor!

Crap vacuums. It only takes one knock over, and it's done. My dad used to work for Filter-Queen back in the day, and he destroyed all types of vacuums. Kirbys, Sanitaires, Electroluxes, and Rainbows. Rubbish machines, who the hell would combine an unsealed vacuum with water and think "that's a great idea!"?
