      @@gryd3461 Congrats on buying it!🙂 Hmmm, I don't know everything that is out there, but for me it took some getting used to finding the exact velocity and CC1 curve to make the instrument sound realistic. These mockups have been my way of really learning how to get a realistic sound from the instruments as you can get very detailed when dialing in the notes 😛 I learned best from mocking up sections from different pieces, tempo mapping a reference track, and mocking up with the reference track on it's own track in my DAW to easily mute/unmute for constant tempo synced reference and working on the details until it sounds as close to the real orchestra as I can get it. See my Realistic runs video, there I'm showing a little bit from my Harry Potter mockup and the reference track ;-)
      Another tip is working a bit with EQ and using the pitch detune on the instruments to make things sound organic and not perfectly in tune 🙂 Will try to make a Infinite video in the future sharing tips in a bit more detail. Just start using it! And try mocking up short sections of a real orchestra, and tweak until you get as close as possible ;-)

    Amazing job! and it's a very difficult task because everybody knows this theme and it's "very easy" to complain...I know it well because I did "Leia's Theme" and "The flag parade" from the Maestro and...Let me tell you...
    Overall, it's the best intro of this piece I've never listened to before!! Very well balanced, the mix is very close to the original, brilliant!! from 0:30 to forward, the strings are a bit thin, I mean...It requires more players, more intensity and the percussion is just a bit low in the mix. Brass and woodwinds are amazing...
    At the end of the main intro, 1:10, I think there is a note missing, just the last one of the horn section...But, congrats!!! this is really well done!

    • @NikolaiMusicChannel
      @NikolaiMusicChannel  Před 2 lety

      Wow, thank you for the feedback 😄 That is high praise 🙏 Yes, the strings was hardest to do to try to get the sound from the original recording, and I agree is a bitter thinner than the original. I think maybe the last notes of the horn is a bit low but not missing according to the score I used as a refrence, but will check tonight 😊 Tried to get the percussion matched to the original LSO recording, but maybe I calculated the mix wrong, you go a bit deaf after a while and in the end I just wanted to get the video out on John Williams' 90th birthday yesterday, so deemed it good enough 😊 Thank you for taking your time with the feedback, appreciate it!

      @@NikolaiMusicChannel oH!! I understand...so double effort to be ready for the 90th anniversary of the Maestro! ;)
      Yes, I know you used the score as reference, if not, it's very complicated in some parts where there are some instruments on the score that we never know are there because of the score...
      I felt this with Leia's Theme with some "weird" notes with cimbasso but, in the end, you realize this man is a genius! Well, I checked with a couple of YT performances of the main theme and I am pretty sure the F note at the end of that part, is missed...I leave you a link, exactly 1:13 where you hold C but doesn't end with the F...I did the same mistake with the solo violin end of LT and, after some likes, I decided to fix it :( czcams.com/video/54hoKbTWon4/video.html

      @NikolaiMusicChannel  Před 2 lety +3

      Thanks, glad you liked it 😊🙏 Yes, I love the infinite series, after I got used to it and how to make it sound natural and good, I haven't needed to use any other WW or brass samples in my mockups as they are so flexible and can play most anything that's not very aleotoric! Best buy I did, but took a little while before I learned how to make it sound so good as you have to be very musical with them and carve the CC1 and velocities more than in traditional libraries. But almost no keyswitching needed and my workflow now is much faster than with other sample libraries 😄

    The brass is amazing!!
    We wrote before on VI Control, im Bababooey.

    • @NikolaiMusicChannel
      @NikolaiMusicChannel  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi again🙂 Yes, I was struggling to get the strings "big" enough to match the reference track, so mixed in some Cinestrings whitch really cut through and made it bigger, but became a bit blind (deaf) sitting in the mix for too long, and in retrospect the quality is really synthy 😛 You learn as long as you live I guess.... If I ever decide to do the Title theme again I'll use different string libraries. Right now I'm mixing CSS and SSS a lot, and think they sound really good together. Currently started the monumentous task of mocking up the Astroid field que from Empire strikes back, so will be doing that in between my day job, moving house etc for the next weeks, but look out for that mockup, I think it's going to turn out quite nice, and a huge challenge ;-) Thanks for listening!
