The young Elvis in during the 50s definetly hat lots of swag, but the tone, strength and richness of his voice reached the peak in the early 70s. And if you want to understand Elvis, you have to listen to his favourite music: Gospel. Nobody can touch your soul like Elvis singing gospel. If you want to check out his outstanding vocal abilities i suggest you to listen to "how great thou art" live from 1972 "Elvis on tour" or to "you'll never walk alone" (here is no live video footage available)
