WillNE sappanin la
WillNE ALREET PET?
Alreet there workid
ur gay allriih?
Just a minor point 'pet' doesn't mean girl it's a term of general endearment meaning roughly 'my dear'.
Pet may also come from us shortening Petal, as that is also common term of endearment we use for women.
Geordie Lad me nana calls is pet and all. For a second a thought that she was thinking a was gay haha
I thought ‘pet’ was how you call your mates up in Newcastle?
@@harrisonmyers1572
I can't imagine any Newcastle men saying that to their male friends. I also can't imagine many women saying it to their female friends either. It's a term of endearment used up here in the North East of England.
@@harrisonmyers1572 can't imagine seeing a young lass saying to another young lass saying pet to each other it is usually older people who call people pet for example me gran calls me pet

As a Geordie myself I must say you did really well with both the accent and the meaning of the words, even catching the double meaning of some of them. A lot of people within the UK don't understand half of what we say anyway :D
Na most people here only say swear words
Sooo true lol 🤣🤣🤣
I divn't na like.
Zen.R.G true
Most people get Geordie completely wrong, but you got it pretty much spot on! Canny good :)
Charlotte Hall the pronunciation was awful though
I love the amount of effort that went into this. Coming from someone from Newcastle that was a pretty solid accent Billy I'm proud

WillNE would be proud
Billy perhaps your videos are but aimed at British people, but rather Korean and others but you imitate accents in a way that you see the humour but at the same time remain informative. For me (a Londoner) they are hilarious, but I appreciate your unique take on some of our regional accents. Keep up the good work!
I'm from the toon like he smashed it propa ragie mate billy
Federal Bureau Investigation aye eh did in al didn’t e

Why aye man! You did an amazing job, I'm a language teacher - from Newcastle - and I'm definitely going to show this to my students for fun! Subscribed :)
You've got the word pretty much bang on mate. Great job bro. Bring a part 2
I came here because I was struggling to communicate with WillNE. Thanks Billy it really helped
I don't live in Newcastle but I live close and I use these words and a lot more of them even though I don't have a geordie accent
Ruby Louise Moore aye same but i sorta got an accent just live in the out skirts

Thank you so much, this was great. Im going to do an exchange semester there this fall and I had no idea it would be a challenge to understand the language. Now I know lool Great intro though :-)
I was waiting for this :)
Who else came here from WillNE ?
I’m crying omg this is amazing
Omg this is what I needed today
spot on Billy, best video on CZcams pal
Alreet like mate?1 As a Geordie living abroad for 5 years, this is great to hear! Completely accurate as well like!
Good, lighthearted humour, found you in the London evening Standard paper doing a write up on your London "Roadman"accent, keep up the good work, innit!
Am from Newcastle fucking hell I'm crying. "pet" is also used by women to other women (usually to younger)
56cpfan ....also pet lamb.....this would be used from mother to daughter/son /nana to grandchildren or to someone you are fond of to show love and affection......oh! the menfolk say it too... :)
You are very handsome and very intelligent within this subject! Very simply yet formally explained, entertaining and easy to follow, etc.. Please keep it up!
This is just amazing billy

Being a full on Geordie this made iz laugh me ass of lmao
Brilliant! Thank you : )
언제나잘보고있습니당
you are so good! it's making me laugh as well too though not in a bad way. just you do the facial expressions as well and it makes me laugh.
This korean dude has more content on geordie dialect than any other channel i ahve seen
'
This video has helped me a ton. I live near Newcastle and EVERYONE except for me uses these slang terms and I have never understood the dweebs using these terms
You Wot you're the swort of person they're referencing with dweebs, i.e. a tosspot, not to be confused with the majority of Geordies who are canny
***** no I deduced that your a 'dweeb' from hoping somebody gets battered by a comment on social media
***** and that's why you're an idiot because only an idiot thinks that way
u calling us dweebs?
Dr Bones..... it's not slang it's dialect.....it's proper English.....
As a person from Newcastle I can say that I speak ever one of these on a daily basis. On point
You're my hero.
great job Billy!
Some Scots have similar slang in some places in Scotland mainly the borders which is a mix of everywhere
I’m from Newcastle and I have a Geordie accent and I thought this was so funny
Nailed it billy mate
As I’m from Newcastle and I must say he nailed it
The example at 2:28 is wrong because as a Geordie I've pretty much never said 'I'm' ive always said 'am'. So the correct term would be, 'Am ganna get mortal.'
I'm geordie and you nailed the accent
I'm born and bred in Newcastle (still live here) and was expecting this video to be trash. I'm happy to say I was wrong, you did a stand up job, it's great and accurate! +1
단어 카테고리별로 공부하셨다고하는데 책 이름이 뭔가요?ㅠㅠ알고싶어요!!
구독누르고갑니당 ㅎㅎ
Korean Billy, you are as they say in Britain "The Dogs Bollocks"
Much love, keep doing what you do, its great 😊
내년 1월에 뉴카슬 가게되서 악센트에대해 궁금한게 많았는데 이렇게 영상을 만들어주셔서 도움이 많이 될것같아요ㅎ뉴카슬악센트 어떻게 알게되셨나요? 저도 뉴카슬악센트 개인적으로 공부해보려구요
Thank you!!!
I’m frm Newcastle and this quality absolutely spot on
i hope you can make more videos about Newcastle geordie☺ thank you
Geordie is so difficult for outsiders to understand mainly because its so old (in fact it’s currently the oldest English dialect). It has surprisingly remained relatively unchanged compared to other dialects in Britain and has retained a lot of its Anglo-Saxon origins. Many words that get used like hoose (house), oot (out), toon (town) and doon (down) didn’t undergo the great vowel shift that took place in the late Medieval period which had a huge effect on Modern English. German is another language that also underwent this change; many Geordie words sounds quite similar to early medieval German which is unsurprising since the Angles who settled in the north of England came from the Schleswig-Holstein region which covers modern-day northern Germany and southern Denmark.
Are there any other sources like this I could look into? something informative, accurate and entertaining?
Oh man, I'm Australian but my parents are Geordie and you nailed this. I've never laughed so hard.
So good!!
3:07 - "and" that's it for today.
half my family are From Newcastle. Your accent is pretty good!
There's something about this fella, seems really likeable.
What's interesting about this, is with Billy voicing some of our Geordie friends phrases like;
'Am gannin doon the toon.'' - I'm going down the town.'
Sounds more pleasant on the ear in Geordie, almost sings, maybe because it's Billy saying them and not a deep booming Geordie. Never appreciated this until watching Billy imitating both regional and RP versions, thanks, good fun.
I still come back to this because it makes me realise what I sound like to other people
This is so funny from the toon here cannot believe i have not seen this made me day. Cushty bardy. 👍🤣🤣
You did a canny job there bonnie lad, almost peed myself laughing 😂😂😂
You nailed it,..accent is canny good like 👍
Love it.
Done my home town proud
He got oot (out) mixed up with owt (anything). But I'll give him 9.5 oot of 10 for an excellent effort. He did alot better than people who only live 50 mile doon the road.
You should do Blackpool dialect words with it being famous and all
Blackpool! My girlfriend works for VisitBlackpool and I'm sure she'd find it amusing.
NickNack PaddyWack Glasgow and Blackpool are both shit piles
Bloody little t init
No thanks mate Blackpool shire
Alex Hancill what’s ur oh
I'm creased 😂 this is mint
Spent 2 years in NCL, and this is actually pretty canny like!
Can you do Glasgow?
Pet can be used towards men too, it's just a term of endearment. It's more like saying, "love" or, "darling".
Im a Geordie myself and Im really impressed
As a Geordie he nailed this 👍🏻
Again this is hilarious, I'm from Sunderland but I really want to use this for kids in Japan to teach dialects!
I’m fucking crying 😂😂😂😂😂 as a Geordie you’ve nailed this mate
How have I only just found this? Billy is a Geordie, Billy is a Geordie, la la la la, la la la la...
....why aye man that’s a canny good Geordie accent you have there fella!
I have never heard anyone say mortal when they are drunk. Apart from that, this video is great!
Gannon kidda! What a great video! next one include "hadaway and sh?te" "divvent" and many more
Bro I may be from South Shields, it's 15 minutes from Newcastle, but you nailed it, fuckin oscar winning shit this like
thanks
His facial expression when he said mortal has me creasin
Incredible.
Alreet pet is also used in Wigan dialect words
You NEED to do one on Leeds dialect or just Yorkshire in general (aka God's own county
harehills maybe..but not where i live..
It is very good contents!
I’m also a Geordie and I say every single word in here at some point in my day
Geordie just retains some of the older, pre vowel shift pronunciations, like Scots English or Cumbrian or Northumbrian, which share a common origin, hence alreet and toon. Other accents/dialects away from London do the same.
You explained the words well but I think the accent was quite off - Sorry Billy! :p (Geordie born and bred)
Lucy Stevens I'm so glad I wasn't the only one, it was too forced and the pronunciation was wayyyyy off
Billy lad ye were spot on
brilliant
