- In this video, we'll take a look at the one of the best drift events I ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It was the first ever drift event on public roads in our country. It took place on the first section of the well known hillclimb course in Hrušica, Slovenia. The event, named Hrušica Driftclimb attracted many drivers from all over the place, who all wanted to experience drifting on a Touge. Tune in to see what kind of cars, the drivers were using and who managed to take home first place.
Touge, a Japanese word for mountain pass. To many people it is just a word, but to us drift enthusiasts it signifies a place where one can experience the purest form of driving pleasure.
Coincidentally it was these Japanese winding mountain roads where Keiichi Tsuchiya recorded the now famous video Pluspy. Popularising drifting and in doing so attracting many aspiring street racers to the mountains to experience this new driving technique. Further cementing the popularity of the driving style.
Although in modern times, the sport has evolved to feature massive tracks or stadium, on closed track with massive crowd cheering, lights and fireworks going off. And that’s great it’s now easier than ever to follow the sport and support your favorite drivers.
On the other hand it is rather rare to see drifting on anything that would resemble a Touge outside of Japan. However, this year I was amazed that I’ll be able to see it on home soil.

Drifting is literally an art and not a sport. A sport has benchmarks which you compare to. Rally has stage times, other races have lap times. Drifting is really like dancing where it is all in the way you do it and how spectacular it is

We all know "Takumi" would be driving a FSO Polonez Caro MR'92 and his name would be Tadeusz Fujarski.
It's great to see "public road" drifting becoming popular in Europe. If you travel north, you'll find that mountan stage in Czarna Góra has been constant part of polish Drift Open championship calendar for some time.
It shocked me when you started mentioning “Slovenia”, glad to see something like that is also happening here in our country :D
I wouldn't call slovenia eastern europe, but it's a great video about an event I didn't even know about but are able to visit. Good to know for the future
Yeah me neither, but in my experience most people who don't know eastern europe just put all slavic countries in there. It was either that or Balkan, but I thought that this would give more clicks.

@@Simtatic Slovakia wasn't forgotten, it was separated from Czechia exactly because they weren't "western enough" - after 1989 the majority of slovak people kept voting for the socialist party, and since czechs resented communism that's why they decided to split apart.

I'd love to see this more often. Maybe drift event organizers could work together with rally organizers, since they'll have a bunch of awesome public roads closed for a few days at a time.
This is awesome! The US had an event like this last month too at the Applachia mountains! I hope more mountain drifting events happen!

Slide drift team and FDC (FrenchDrift Championship (Championnat de France de drift)) have some touge track. Slide drift team made their own event and there is a step in Calmont for the FDC
Good video, I don't know what i was expecting but it was nice coverage of the event, that's dope. I've been to a couple regional rally stages and the vibe was similar but the way they put drifting into it was good
I am from Italy and I wasn't aware that such events existed. I def need to be on the lookout for the next one!
Hungary, the roads around Pécs are also very cool and interesting. Lots of official rallies around there and European heavyweights from the Rally world come from said area

I have 2 e36 a touring with an M52 and a compact with an M54.
Those are the best and sportiest vehicles bmw built in that era!
Lightweight, powerful and a mechanical connection to the road that unjust impossible to get those days, no matter what car you buy.
You will never have such a connection to the road again!
My parents are from Limanowa in the south of Poland and the place is apart of the FIA European Hill-Climb Championship (Hill climb is also popular in Poland).

Here in germany we have races like in Wangan Midnight. But I would love to see someone drift on a mountain pass. When you watch racers on the Autobahn, going by with 200 to 300 km/h, they pass so quick, you sometimes don't even recognize the car.

there was recently an event thats similar to drift climb in the appalachians (eastern united states). unfortunately didnt attend, but from what ive saw from the clips was pretty cool.

For more drift events like this! I've always found formula drifting kinda boring it nvr gave me the same goosebumps as homemade drift videos, be it old or newer. But the clip´s you've shown, specially from the finals... man, Initial D lvl goosebumps
