    Here is what you'll need!
    Homemade Falafel
    Makes 18-20 1-inch falafel
    INGREDIENTS
2 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
    1 cup red onion, chopped
    ¼ cup parsley
    4 cloves garlic, peeled
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    2 teaspoon cumin
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    1 cup bread crumbs
    Oil, for frying
    Optional
    Pita bread
    Tomatoes
    Cucumber
    Lettuce
    Pickles
    Hummus
    Tahini sauce
    PREPARATION
To the bowl of a 2-quart food processor, add chickpeas, onion, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, and spices. Pulse the ingredients together until they are just incorporated and form a wet paste. Be careful not to over-blend ingredients.
Transfer the chickpea mixture to a large mixing bowl and add bread crumbs, mixing until just incorporated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Remove the chilled falafel mixture from the refrigerator and being shaping it into balls. The mixture should yield 18 to 20 1-inch falafel balls.
In a large frying pan with high sides, heat about 1-inch of oil for frying.
Heat the oil over high heat, and fry falafel balls for 3 minutes, flipping halfway. Once golden brown and crispy, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
Plate falafel as desired, either as a sandwich, salad topping, or over a bed of greens with a side of tahini sauce.
    Enjoy!

Falafel is made from dried chickpeas/fava beans which are soaked in water for several hours. Whereas this video used cooked chickpeas that comes in a can. That's the major difference!

I fell in love with falafel sandwiches back in my twenties as a club hopper in Greenwich Villiage, NYC. There's this spot and I mean spot of a place that I think still exists till this day! The Falafel spot a block from Blue Notes and NYU. We use to hang tuff in the Vill, always finding something different to do. It was wild and the falafels would hit hard under the inufluence and low on money. 😆. ALLLL the veggie toppins and drown it with white sauce!!

When I tried to make falafel for the first time I used boiled chickpeas and my falafel just dissolved in oil while frying. The second time I used chickpeas which I soaked in water overnight and it worked perfectly. I don’t know how I forgot about this fact when I was trying to follow your recipe... canned chickpeas are cooked and again... my poor falafel disappeared in hot oil 😭

I just wanted to know how to make that white sauce. Can you buy it somewhere?

At least I know the name of it now! I always assumed that it was made with plain yogurt, but it's actually based around crushed sesame seeds. I guess that soft sour flavor came from lemon juice. I wish I can just buy it somewhere.

The word 'falafel' reminds me of that old show 'Kickin' it'...
