Here is what you'll need!
Homemade Falafel
Makes 18-20 1-inch falafel
INGREDIENTS
2 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 cup red onion, chopped
¼ cup parsley
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 cup bread crumbs
Oil, for frying
Optional
Pita bread
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Lettuce
Pickles
Hummus
Tahini sauce
PREPARATION
To the bowl of a 2-quart food processor, add chickpeas, onion, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, and spices. Pulse the ingredients together until they are just incorporated and form a wet paste. Be careful not to over-blend ingredients.
Transfer the chickpea mixture to a large mixing bowl and add bread crumbs, mixing until just incorporated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Remove the chilled falafel mixture from the refrigerator and being shaping it into balls. The mixture should yield 18 to 20 1-inch falafel balls.
In a large frying pan with high sides, heat about 1-inch of oil for frying.
Heat the oil over high heat, and fry falafel balls for 3 minutes, flipping halfway. Once golden brown and crispy, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
Plate falafel as desired, either as a sandwich, salad topping, or over a bed of greens with a side of tahini sauce.
Enjoy!

HotSnow Gaming Get a life
Meredith get a falafel
Gleek you should try it ;)
Falafel is made from dried chickpeas/fava beans which are soaked in water for several hours. Whereas this video used cooked chickpeas that comes in a can. That's the major difference!
Yes n I noticed no baking powder. Idk if that's an authentic ingredient but some recipes I seen on here include it
Chickpeas r meant to be soaked for hours but I'm guessing they just didn't have the time
you did not pick upp on the breadcrumbs. this is not falaffel
You should add a splash of good quality olive oil while blending, it helps with the texture and crispiness.
Thanks for tip. Haven't time to soak so that would help canned recipe not be like dough 👍
Eid is tomorrow!! Ramadan Kareem to anyone fasting
Inori Dori Are you sure that EID is tomorrow?
Color Print Well, I live in Amman, Jordan, so the timing may vary. All I know is that Eid is on the 25th of June

no it doesn't, not in where I used to live anyway. Not all egyptian call it taamia. I call it falafel, it more like Cairo people that would call taamia.
Fellafel is so good, when I was in the Middle East a few months back I couldn't get enough of it
When are people going to learn that none of what Tasty makes is claimed to be authentic?
Hana Eltantawy Ever thought of this as their variation of a falafel? People make ice cream with heavy cream and condensed milk are you going to tell them it's not because it's not made with other ingredients that qualify it as ice cream?
Josie Dez what is your profile...
marigold A miserable pile of secrets....
For those who are wondering why it isn't more green, the Egyptian one we add more parsley and fava beans while other Arab countries use a majority of chickpeas
Omg yesss I freaking love middle eastern food! More please!
That looks...
AMAZING!
That the best way to make it homemade and for beginners I love this recipe. Good job to tasty and I am looking forward for more Arab food
you need more parsley! i eat falafel and its more green😐
I think it ended up more of a brownish color because of the amount of breadcrumbs the added. I thought the same thing about the color being off
Young Pup X They aren't even doing it right! there is not suppose to be bread crumbs in it anyways only chick peas and parsley
David Abboud u have tried falafel? wow my mom makes them at home the Egyptian way😊

Looks soo good!
Great recipe! Thanks😍😍😍
I fell in love with falafel sandwiches back in my twenties as a club hopper in Greenwich Villiage, NYC. There's this spot and I mean spot of a place that I think still exists till this day! The Falafel spot a block from Blue Notes and NYU. We use to hang tuff in the Vill, always finding something different to do. It was wild and the falafels would hit hard under the inufluence and low on money. 😆. ALLLL the veggie toppins and drown it with white sauce!!
This was my birthday request! Love falafel!! 🥙 and it has an emoji!
Arabic and Egyptian food FINALLY!! thanks tasty
When I tried to make falafel for the first time I used boiled chickpeas and my falafel just dissolved in oil while frying. The second time I used chickpeas which I soaked in water overnight and it worked perfectly. I don’t know how I forgot about this fact when I was trying to follow your recipe... canned chickpeas are cooked and again... my poor falafel disappeared in hot oil 😭
Perhaps adding more bread crumbs to the mix, would solve the excess liquid problem with the pre-cooked chickpeas then, if using canned?
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO

im not egyptian, but i had a ton of these, and I've never tasted any of the secondary ingredients you put in it, except for the onions a few time, wich comes diced not minced ( or whatever the action is named ).

WE NEED MORE ARAB FOOD!
i am an egyptian girl....ana falafel is from the popular food that egypt is famous with and it is perfect
Jana Jojo I call bs
the origin of the falafel isn't exactly known
May Forever you may be right....i do not know but i think its origin is from egypt..just try it
Jana Jojo It's a middle eastern dish but it's not egyptian
one could never know
May Forever you can search on google falafel is originated in what country and you will know its Egypt
Jana Jojo I did my research
it isn't solely egiptian
you should add two eggs and some baking powder before frying. it will come out dense If you don't. it may look good in the video but I assure you it tastes horrible. eggs and baking powder are a must to make it moist and fluffy, also crispy.
There is an ongoing feud in my family OVER THIS EXACT ISSUE.
The Israeli way to do it is to put the falafel in a pita with salad, pickles, and chips (fries). Add hummus for a better tasting experience :) idk how other countries do it.
This music reminds me of a Sega Saturn racing game.
More middle eastern food please
I just wanted to know how to make that white sauce. Can you buy it somewhere?
At least I know the name of it now! I always assumed that it was made with plain yogurt, but it's actually based around crushed sesame seeds. I guess that soft sour flavor came from lemon juice. I wish I can just buy it somewhere.
The word 'falafel' reminds me of that old show 'Kickin' it'...
Was the dipping sauce ranch?
فلافل - falafel 😍 اخيرا اختراع عربي اكتسح العالم 😂😂😂😂
i'm from egypt so i eat flafl every day and in my country it called taamia
