This guy is tremendous - so great at explaining things. And I love the line about not being hung up on brand names. There are certainly things that are certainly "better" or more well-made, and cost more for a reason. But, never let that slow you down. Just get really good at the theory and technique with anything and master that. You can then work with almost anything. So many great ideas here. I'm definitely stealing a few. I have a few of those 3-tier wheely carts - they're the greatest invention. Now, I'm going to start modifying them, like he did, lol.

Of the four videos I have seen, this was the most practical for me, and where I am. Each was fantastic, but this was the most useful immediately. But what I am taking away the most is the ramp at the end. I feel stupid for not thinking of such a simple and useful tool. For years, I lifted my cart. And, as I get older, that is more problematic.

    34:16 I usually have a charging station but I don't have a 250mw plant Mic yet.
announcing charging station here, that it might make it more likely to get your cables back?
And also has the wonderful benefit of being able to silence everybody's phones!
I offered to charge somebody's laptop, they forgot it and I didn't really need another MacBook Pro.
I was doing data wrangling and every morning I would roll out 200 feet of extension cord to my former van so I was literally the only outlet that wasn't the one under the coffee pot or subsequently 20 feet away in the management trailer.
Although I did make wardrobe very happy they had a unlit shed, once I learned about their debacle I also dropped them off a nice 12v battery and 10W LED work light every day fully charged.
Edit: I reread this and it doesn't make any sense to me so I'm editing it.

The interview was a-- well I'll just say 'that happened'-- but the actual breakdown of the gear was wonderful. I think it is a great take away for anyone working on a film set to have some understanding of at least what people do- but as its pointed out here- the reasoning (things can be confusing). Also Ursa- clever approach- but at $40+ a pop... no- just no. I could see if they were $20... MAYBE $25- but I am going to start asking wardrobe at that $30 and up price tag- to figure it out.

The only reason why I don't do this kind of work is, its a bit tedious for me. And having 1 or so mic transmitters at $1,500 a pop get lost, omg I would lose my mind.
I rather stay in an actual recording studio (which I've done all my life). And just produce music and don't have to worry about losing small sized gear costing thousands.
I usually audio engineer & produce music but getting into cinematic music production. And since I've been doing music all my life and its much easier for me.
So many consoles I've worked on from NEVE 5088 to NEVE RS series to SSL 4000/G to SSL-9000/G series. Plus I come from the old days of 24-track Studer A-80 and such like it. :)
I've been a grip assistant, lighting assistant and PA assistant a few times for a few sets (needed the money & friends helped), but that's about all I've done in regards to being up close on sets.
This video is really cool to watch though :)
