  • Part 2 of my fishing sessions on the Taf Estuary in Carmarthenshire, South West Wales. I stayed in a house called Pilgrims Rest, which is on a working Dairy Farm and the Estuary is just a short walk away! Lovely part of the world and the fishing is pretty special too...a nice week away!
    Thank you for watching, it is much appreciated.

    Hi Gareth. I have just found your channel and going through all your previous videos and loving them. I live in Australia and it's fascinating to see the different sorts of fish you catch there. Most of the fish we catch here are quite different. I have seen you catch Whiting at different locations and they look different to our Whiting. It's also interesting to see the difference in rods (poles). Most people here use a rod that only has about 10-12" of rod below the reel. Your rods seem to extend about 2 or more feet below the reel. It's also wonderful for me to be able to see all the Welsh locations you go to. Can't help but get a dose of Hiraeth! All the best.

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching the videos David, pleased you're enjoying them. Yes I can imagine that the fish species are quite different. Our Whiting are much different, they hit our shores during the Autumn and hang around until late February and so are very much a winter species, they are one of my favourite fish to catch, they bring back good memories for me. Yes the rods I use (beachcasters) are generally longer in length as the marks I fish along the Bristol Channel often have a strong current and even though most of the fish are close in, sometimes further casting is required and the longer rods help with that. I can appreciate that you miss Wales, I'm very much a homeboy and would find it difficult to leave. Cheers, much appreciated 👍👍🐟

      Thanks for the comment Michael on my recent Transporter Bridge video. For some reason, I can't reply to it and so I am replying here instead. You park on Stephenson Street (loads of parking), walk towards the bridge itself, past the dogs home and then take a left through the gate and onto the coastal path. Walk at least 100 yards up from the bridge as it can be snaggy but beyond 100 yards it's all clean ground 👍👍

The house on the farm is called Pilgrims Rest, maybe you could email the owners and ask if you could park there for the day whilst you go fishing, they are friendly enough. I'm not from the area and so I can't really advise where else on the estuary you can fish. There must be other parts of it further down which are accessible.
