Thank you, your the only one that shows a 45 angle ❤
Thank you! I appreciate the support.
I'm in the process of building each of the trees and now I'll make both stars then decide which star looks best with which tree. I've made the small trees and now I have 10 people ( family and friends) wanting me to make them some. Thank you for sharing your videos.
Keep those up and you might be able to sell some next year. My sales definitely helped pay for some gifts on my end.
I like both of them. Great job . Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support.
Thank you, love it. It's a great wee star, thanks for taking the time, working out and showing us how to make a star for a 45 mitre.
I really appreciate the support and the kind words.
Its nice to have the choice of both to do. Thank matey.
Thank you! I appreciate the support.
I like both of them, Merry Christmas
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too.
BOTH ARE GREAT
Thank you!
Great job. Now off to the shop
You'll have to let me know how they turn out.
I like them both!
Thank you.
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks for the great content!
Thanks. I appreciate the support.
Andy! Thank you so much for working on this! Going to do a few tomorrow, maybe 5, because the 6th one is free!
Good luck with them. You'll have to let me know how they turn out. Haha, I said that line because I said it in my other star video, too, lol.
Both are great regardless of the angle, handsome. Thanks for sharing and showing us how to do it.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed.
I like them both, so cool, my brother is a Cowboys fan, so now I know what to make for him 😊 thank you
That's a great idea! I'm glad you liked the video.
I like both.
Thank you.
Andy, I got to say that I love both stars and will probably make the larger one first followed by the other star. Thanks for your video. Scott
You'll have to let me know how they turn out! Also I appreciate the support.
Both are good. No questions. 👍
Thank you very much. I appreciate the support.
Thank you for coming out with a 45 degree star because I only have a miter saw that will cut to 50 degrees and I need to make a jig to allow me to cut deeper angles and haven't yet. This will allow me to make these with what I have now so, Thank you!!
I'm glad that I was able to help out.
Wow! Thank you for the shout-out.
Absolutely! You helped a ton to figure it out and I appreciate it.
I Like both, found out my saw needs tuning. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to tuning video, I struggled.
It should be out soon, along with a lot of other tool how to videos.
Thanks dude
Love from Oz
I'm glad you enjoyed the project.
Both are cool 👍🏻
Thank you!
Thank you for the 45 instructions. i do not have a pocket hole maker so i guess it will be glued
Glue will work great! You just have to wait for it to dry is all.
Thank you. My pick is the 45° angle star.
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
i like the bigger one, but both are awesome!
Thank you very much.
I like the 45 cut best 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate the support.
I like the 54 degree better, just because it is true to form. There are jigs that you can make that will allow your saw to cut angles further than it is capable of doing. That said, the 45 degree start is super simple to make and looks great. I think I would stain or paint the star prior to putting the chamfers in. I think that would make a great contrast and accent.
I am particularly fond of the painted star that i made at 54 degrees.
Absolutely there are jigs to help cut larger angles, I actually have a video on it.
hello. i.ve made both angle stars too. they look great..should be using the push stick hold down on the miter saw.
Great tip. I've been looking into the "million dollar stick" lately.
I made the 54 degree star with my 45 miter saw. Just had to make a jig to hold the boards sideways, and could only make one point of the star at a time. Probably had more scrap than if my saw went bigger, but wood is cheaper than a new saw.
Good job on the ingenuity! I love hearing when people overcome obstacles like that.
Prefer the 45 degree as that's max on my saw. Will look at putting in holes for tea light candles in some too. Great video and project.
You'll have to let me know how they turn out.
Thank you Andy, love the star. Nice with 45 degree angles, my saw won't do 54. Merry Christmas, Dan.
I'm glad the video could help you out Dan. I appreciate the support.
Keep the videos coming, Dan
45 is the nicest I would say, keep up the great work bud.
Thanks. I appreciate the support.
I like both stars but i think i like the 54 deg. better. n\Now to find the video to tweak the miter saw.
czcams.com/video/H3gLqB9rd-4/video.htmlsi=DG13d22MeQnt4DIv here you go.
I like both and would be an idea to sell at craft shows
These would sell great at craft shows.
Both are great, but I like the 45 better.
What is it that you like more on the 45 degree star more?
Thank you brother, 45^
Thank you for your support
I like the 54 deg star more, but both are very nice.
That's my preference too, and thank you.
Thought. If you mount your Kreg jig on a piece of plywood, you can clamp it to the work bench and won’t have to hold it. You choose the size of the plywood.
That's a great idea. I do like the portability of what I have now though.
had me trying to guess ahead....wow....
What do you mean?
Hey Andy, I'm new to this and would like to ask(if possible) what you ask as far as pricing (ballpark) for the trees, stars, or even a complete tree w/star? If it's to personal - I understand. I love your projects, will keep on watching them. Thanks, Rich
Rich, I appreciate the comment and interest. I had someone offer me $250 for one of my plain trees and stars. Otherwise when I sell them, I am selling them at $150. I am in the Midwest. So not a huge city by any means. They sell like crazy and there is a great profit margin on them.
I like 54. It looks like russian army star. Thanks for video. Good luck
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your support.
I like the straight star the best
How do you adjust your mider saw
I am currently working on a video specifically for that.
Personally I like both stars!! Thanks for sharing Andy!
I'm glad you enjoy them. I appreciate all of your support.
Andy great job thank you. Quick question could I get away with just gluing rather than pocket holes?
Absolutely you could just use glue instead.
Hi, appreciate your videos. How did you do the chamfer safely?
Thank you very much for the support. I use a router and bit like this one amzn.to/3GXxzhi
I like them both what is tampered edge and how do you do it?
I use a router and router bit like this one. amzn.to/479H2wD
I like them both but I would just glue them together
Glue is a great option too.
Love the 45 degree more. How would you put them together without a pocket hole jig?
You could use regular wood glue.
I like the 45 degree star because I would only be able to make lol. My question is why did you use two and half inch screws, could you use smaller
You could but these are the recommended length for those settings. This is because if they are shorter the threads will engage both pieces of wood and won't pull them together like they are designed to.
I like the 45 * do you have to use 2x4 or can you use different lumber ?
great question. You can use whatever thickness you would like.
Thanks for a great video. I actually think I can do this. LOL My Harbor Freight saw only goes to 45 degrees. I have a pocket hole jig, but it just seems like overkill. Is there a reason why just glue would not work? Is 35 degrees better for the second cuts? Not sure I could lock in 35 when my detention is 36.5. Anyway, thanks for the great video.
The angles are very specific, otherwise they wont look right. just glue itself would work great if you find a way to hold it in place while the glue dries.
Hi Andy, great channel and projects. Do you sell your projects? If so could you let us know the asking price? Also wondering what part of the country you are in, because that dictates price. Thanks and keep building.
I am in the central united states. I do sell some projects. I can do a dedicated video sometime but really I charge (materials + time)*1.2 = customer price. So these with that pricing would be $25-$30. However they could easily sell for more.
I like the 45 degree , As my saw only goes to 45 degrees
I'm glad that I could have a project for your saw.
Can the length of the star be increased by increasing the the 11 inch measurement?
Sorry I guess it was 9 inches not 11.
Are you looking for it to be 9 inches across?
I like them both, but the 45 being an easier cut might give it the edge.
I appreciate the feedback and your support.
Did you bevel the edges of the pieces off camera?
yes I did.
If you make it bigger does it change the angles of the cuts
The angles will stay the same.
@@cedarriverwoodworking thank you for getting back to me and thanks for your rapid response
54
Glad you like them.
Great videos and projects. I love your channel. But why are you using an impact driver with non-impact screws and driver bit? 45 is better.
I appreciate the support. Honestly I have been using that combination for years. It's nice to not have to swap out bits in tools. also why would it have a driver shank on it if I couldn't use it in a bit driver?
They make impact rated bits and extensions. I love your channel don't get me wrong not finding fault with the way you do things. I was just inquiring.@@cedarriverwoodworking
@@rs2343-o4e Not a problem at all and I can appreciate the call out. Thank you for your support.
I didn't catch what you said you put on the cut ends off camera.
a chamfer edge profile.
I tried to make one - it was a disa-STAR!
I love the pun! What happened with it?
@@cedarriverwoodworking Never set the saw angle perfectly. Next time! 😃
@@fontybits Oops! at least you figured out what the issue was.
So the correct second angle is 31.6?…or is that your saw stop with the correct angle being 31.5…
mathematically the angle is 31.5, but a stop at 31.6 is close enough.
I really like this video, however, between 6:00 and 6:33 you are "flipping the work piece over". I am unable to see what you are doing. I have ruined several scrap 2x4's trying to figure out the proper way to make this cut. Can you help me understand how you do the "flip".
Absolutely. So after the first cut the side that is facing up, roll it so that faced is down. the point that was pushed into the stop will get pushed back into the stop, then make the cut again.
Thank you for your lightning fast repsonse. I finally figured it out.
@@user-dg5ow9do8m I'm glad you were able to figure it out.
Great video but got a little long winded in the explanation
I appreciate the feedback. I'm just trying to make sure I can explain it so that everyone will understand.
Newbies need the extra little tidbits of info. I often pickup tips and tricks from watching and listening to someone do one thing, but I learn something different that they weren't even teaching. Does that make sense lol? I don't know how to explain it. Great content! New subscriber here!
@@ownandbehappy I completely agree! That's why I try to share everything that I can.
54 ... I think
That's my pick too.
I just came across this video. What happened to your caution about not lifting the saw until the blade stops spinning? Specifically. when you were making the 31.6º cut...
I discus that when i'm setting up the stopblock at 5:43. It's captured on 2 sides and has continuous pressure. The point isn't given the chance to rotate and cause a kickback. you can absolutely wait until the blade stops if that makes you feel more comfortable. ALSO i continue to hold the piece down.
Thank you
You're welcome
54
That's my preference too.
