- The 21-year-old track and field star opens up about testing positive for marijuana ahead of the 2021 Summer Olympics. While speaking on the ‘Today’ show, Sha’Carri says she accepts full responsibility for her actions, but insists she’s still chasing her Olympics dreams full speed ahead.

This stinks. I adore this girl. It’s funny because as a smoker myself, I feel like marijuana would HINDER your performance and not enhance it lol I really like how she took accountability instead of denying it too. I’m sorry for the loss of her mom. Poor thing. They know she’d have taken the gold.
exactly!!! i am pretty sure she didn’t do weed in order to help her out…makes no sense 😭😭😭
I don’t think she would have taken the gold maybe the bronze or Silver. She’s not faster than Shelly Ann from Jamaica. This is only a big deal because she’s from America. Her getting suspended wouldn’t be a story over here otherwise. She’s not the fastest woman in the Olympics this year.
I think it's stupid it's illegal/banned. But this one's pretty simple: it's against the rules, so just don't do it for a couple months, then after the Olympics go ahead and do whatever you want. Sucks I really wanted to see her compete
It's banned because the chemical in it can hide other performance enhancing drugs
yep thought the same thing!! so I think punishing her for it is dumb. is she also not allowed to drink? because that's worse for you than pot...
"if it aint CRACK , let her BACK ON THE TRACK" 😭

Now I just want to see Hunter Biden race her. 😭
if you cant follow rules, go back to school

People lose someone everyday. Not an excuse. You don't get a pass because you're good at what you do.
@Business lady - "losing."
Penalties for marijuana!!!!! That's ridiculous. Stay strong girl! Jesus is Lord. Keep doing what you do! Don't ever give up.
I wouldn’t say it’s ridiculous because it’s literally always been a penalty.
@@datsapaddlin6449 lmfao it IS ridiculous, it has NO impact on improving her abilities AT ALL.
Is she special? Did she receive the same guidelines as all the other players? Unfortunately, I have seen several sports players lose a family member minutes or hours before championships. They are still responsible for their actions.

She didn’t do anything wrong imo. It’s 2021, why fuck would it matter if an athlete smoked marijuana? It’s not like it’s a performance enhancing drug.
@@PeriodDrama I agree, but in some states it is still illegal and in some countries it is illegal. She can still run in the relay if she wants because her suspension will be over then. She handled this like a true woman. All respect to her. She is a champion.
Handling this like a true woman means not smoking weed while competing.
@@mrxces69 what athlete doesn’t
Actually she can't run the relay. According to a CBC report, she needed a time from the individual 100m race. Because she was suspended, the time she did in the race does not count. She has no result, she doesn't get to run the relay.
She can't simply run in the relays 'if she wants to'. As far as I know: she needs a posted time to be considered for the relays. Her times in the 100m were deleted because of her suspension. No time. No relays. Technically, the US Olympic committee could still clear her for the relays, but I think it would be hard to justify to the other runners who got a posted time.
a clown that threw away a huge opportunity-champion lol kk
Let's get one thing straight. Richardson is an Olympic athlete bound by IOC rules. Note to anyone who thinks what happened, I'm looking at you AOC and Seth Rogan, is racist, it's not.
For those who don't know the true story behind this ban:
Marijuana didn't used to be banned. The policy was changed after Canadian snowboarder Ross Rebagliati (a white guy) tested positive for the substance at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , which predates what happened to swimmer Michael Phelps in 2009. At first, Rebagliati lost his medal, then won it back on appeal because the IOC found it had no rules regarding marijuana use. After the incident, the IOC put pot on its banned list.
Are we clear now?
Edit Rebagliati tested positive for THC.
lmao no one said it was about race, and what do aoc and seth rogan have to do with this?? sounds like you might be the racist one...
@@amandacharlebois9295 I mentioned AOC and Rogen because they have called this decision racist, and I needed to vent. TL:DR for which I apologize.

Hopefully, she will learn from this and humble herself a little bit - because when you lose or get in trouble with that arrogant attitude best believe people will be coming after you. I pointed this out a couple of weeks ago about that for Shacarri not to lose sponsors she needs to clean up her act. People were throwing insults at me saying " I cannot be happy for a black woman". - now look. This has nothing to do with race, it's common sense
I still feel the same way. You are a hater who cannot be happy for a black woman. Poor you!

I am not sure but I think every athlete who participates have to pass a drug test, or at least a lot. So how tf are they finding a way to ban her when she broke the rules and the consequences are well known??
Nobody was trying to or was out to get her. She screwed up and gave a rather lame apology to boot.
She shouldn’t be punished. Michael Phelps was not punished and still was allowed to participate in the Olympics and represent the US.
Michael Phelps was punished, he was suspended for 3 months and dragged by the media for a year causing him to lose tons of endorsements. He never even tested positive either
I STILL LOVE YOU 💘! Mic'21

Personally, if Sha'Carri asked me, I would say don't smoke because it's bad for your health. However, the most important question that should have been asked is simple; Does marijuana provide ANY performance enhancement? And of course we all know the answer is a resounding NO! If anything it reduces performance. The ridiculously compromised Olympic committee allows men to compete in women events, which is an AUTOMATIC performance enhancement, but then they deny Sha'Carri the chance at GREATNESS on the track because she smoked some weed? The Olympic committee is DEAD WRONG, and they sorely lack even an ounce of bravery. Re-institute Sha'Carri's eligibility immediately and stop madness!
Jamaica would have beaten you any way. 4th place would have been your spot baby girl.

Thank yu
Her smoke detector is seriously beeping? What a mess
Same rules for everyone no matter what country. Her choice, she did it fully aware of the no drug policy and blew her chances right before the Olympics🙄
You smoked a legal substance! In Oregon weed is like alcohol and cigarettes! Never a overdose on weeds!!!
yes it's legal in Oregon but there's another 49 other states that have different laws

Sad truth! A plant, the plants flower I am holding in my hand has never caused a single overdose! Cannabinoids are in our brain! This has to stop! If this lady would've drank alcohol, 1 million deaths low end, completely legal regulated and taxed!
@@daviddaviscrawford3669 what? The olympics dont care if its legal or not. They banned if and she tested positive
Marjrana is legal so what's the problem I still say they are targeting her, and all black Olympian athletes should boycott the Olympics she's not the only black Olympian athlete that's been disqualified over controversial incidents !
We still support you!!!!!! Much love!❤
Marijuana ain't no drug! Live your life dear, there'll be more races to run, they can't stop you. We still proud of you !
