in Tzar, you have the Arab Jihad, which cheapens the villagers and lets them turn in to Jihad warriors, so you can go a good while without any soldiers in the map, pretending to be a peaceful civ..... and then SURPRISE, REBELLION!

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms - Oh damn!
The Spanish inquisition wasn't loyal to the Pope. It was loyal to the king and queen of Spain. It was formed because the monarchs of Spain got tired of Pope's meddling into the affairs of Spain.
The Inquisition completely failed in this game though.

If only villagers with supremacy could be toggled into combative mode to behave like militia, they wouldn't have been standing around getting shot up.
Supremacy villagers and Missionaries is a micromanagement nightmare, you have to constantly order them on separate targets.
That combo could have done some work if only monk mechanics weren't complete trash, and supremacy also granted military AI.
I still appreciate Vipers madlad tactics though :)
Viper basically allowed that single trebuchet from 14:19 to take out his castle, and all of his monasteries for 9+ minutes...
Seems like it would have been significantly less expensive to just make a few ranged siege units to take it out.
He was trying to be a pacifist not building any offensive units. If Viper wanted to win he would not have gone for this strategy in the first place.

I expected the Spanish Inquisition. I've spent YEARS preparing, forging my mind and body in the crucible where no Spaniard can prevail. Doing 100 push ups, 100 squats, 100 sit-ups, and 10 T90 videos every day!

This strategy would probably be good against Slavs or Khmer, since those are the only 2 civs that lack both faith and heresy.

Honestly, the fact that JonSlow's player color was Green definitely helped him fly under the radar.
The Spanish missionary unit should really be called the Inquisitor. The Inquisition tech would make more sense, and it helps complete the Spanish Inquisition joke.
If Viper started building elite skirmishers to counter the plumed archers, around 13:00 - 14:00 mark (when he breaches the base), it would have been an interesting match
I'm an accountant at a company in the Caymen Islands and I've recently been trying to help billionaires with their tax evasion. Something I found out while playing a 256x tech mod is that when you send a converted villager to build something, it gets your upgrades. It's best used with inquisition/supremacy combo.

It is one of the best things you will ever see
The scouts are using a dagger or a short sword or something. The villagers are using daggers or knifes as far as I can tell. So they are using weapons.
The main problem of this strategy is the fact that you have to micro every single unit, both missionaries and villagers, however mostly villagers than missionaries. Villagers simply stop attacking once the chosen unit dies, and they don't have military commands such as patrol, attack move or even any sort of organization format.
Viper should've split the missionaries up so John would have a harder time to stop viper from converting his men.

The tribe that killed the missionary was on Sentinel Island. Its believed that they are so primitive that they have not even discovered how to start fires.

i think strats like this would be more viable if they added AI programming that made villagers attack whatever was attacking them if they were idle, or adding a auto acquire toggle, same for monks & missionary conversions, an auto convert when enemy is in range would make super human micro not needed as a necessity
