    Italeri 1/9 BMW R75
The finish of Italeri's 1/9 military motorcycle series is different from the original, but I made all of them except Zündapp.
I can see 1/9 Harley, Triumph and BMW side by side.
If these three motorcycle pass the examination, I will exhibite them at this year's Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show.
    About the kit
The mold is more solid than the company's Harley and Triumph. Especially bolts.
Other than that, it is a kit that is difficult to make compared to the current model, and the adhesion between parts must be corrected, but considering the era when ESCI was selling it, I think it is an excellent kit.
    Production
This BMW was made with the image that someone from the Allied Powers took it home and customized it after the war of WWWII.
    Engine
The position of the air filter is divided into the early type on the engine side and the late type on the tank.
I chose the early type model and added details to the simplified air filter using brass mesh and junk parts.
Since the genuine air filter pipe was made of soft resin, it was replaced with a spring pipe.
The fins of the engine are shallow, so I scraped them to the limit of the thickness of the plastic.
I replaced the pushrod tubes with aluminum and brass pipes.
The carburetor adds a detail based on the actual car photo.
The shaft of the shaft drive is a brass pipe.
I was debating whether to use a brass pipe or a resin tube for the oil line, but since it overlaps with the shaft, I chose a tube.
But Germany had shaft drives in their motorcycles in the 1930s!
    frame
I cut out the part that connects to the sidecar and rear seat support and added bolts.
    fuel tank
I cut out the right shift lever and the top air intake.
    muffler
    I made two mufflers.
I made it with a 2mm bendable plastic rod, a spring pipe with an inner diameter of 3mm, and a plastic pipe with an outer diameter of 3.5mm.
I used cloth tape to hide the spring pipe.
    Thank you so much!
    wheel
The spokes are made of 0.5mm insect pins and 0.6mm inner diameter brass pipes.
For 1/9, 0.4mm and 0.5mm inner diameter would be appropriate, but since the tire, hub, and rim are all large, I chose thicker spokes.
    sheet
The original has a large spring that stands out strangely, so I changed the shape based on the BMW of the 1940s.
I made it a single seat, processed the parts of the rear seat and installed the spring.
    painting
As those who watch my channel know, I weather paint my models.
The frame and front forks are green and weathered.
The tank and fender are weathered with silver.
It's just after the war, so I arranged it a little military style and put a monster mouth decal on the fuel tank to make it a US military aircraft.
Actually, there is a 1940s BMW that looks very similar to this, and I fell in love at first sight and made it.
In the world of real cars, you want to make a historical bike that is customized with plenty of charm.
    light
I'm driving on a public road, so I turn on the lights.
In the kit, the front light was hollow, so I put in a 1/10 model bike light.
The tail light is 1/24, a surplus part of the car plastic model.
    display stage
The display stand has a wooden board design on a steel frame.
    Thank you so much!

Always very interesting videos. I see that you color the parts in rust primer, why? Don't Tamiya metallic colors dry too quickly to be painted with a brush? You clean the washes with a cotton swab, but don't they dry as quickly as the colors?

    • @scalemodeler
      @scalemodeler  Před rokem

When doing weathering painting, always I use Oxide Red.
I also use this color when painting black with iron paint.
The reason is that you can easily express rust.
When the paint is removed with a cotton swab, a small amount of rust will eventually appear.
This is because it is easier than expressing rust with chipping paint.
      Thank you.
