*About the kit
This kit is an Airfix mold.
It's a very good kit, and I think it's wonderful that there was a model of this quality half a century ago.
There are vinyl cables (This ideas is for beginners, but increasing the difficulty assemble), and there are some differences compared to the actual car (cylinder head, etc.), but the assembly is made of plastic, but bolts are used a lot. This is the only 1/8 big scale Norton commando kit with Keanu Reeves on board.
I could make a normal type with Keanu Reeves in mind, but I made a cafe racer type because I wanted to put the decals of the British motorcycle, ACE CAFE.
*engine
The fin is a separate part. For some reason, the shape of the cylinder head is a little strange, even though I'm so particular about it.
I noticed it after assembling it, so I arranged it for actual feel like it.
*bolts
All bolts with suspicious shapes were replaced with hexagonal plastic bars, brass pipes, and WAVE bolt sets.
*shaft, rods, cables, etc.
shaft and rods will deteriorate over time or break with paint, so use metal wires.
Cables are made of soft vinyl. With this texture, it is impossible to route the cables, so we replaced them all with commercially available cables.
I also added an outlet for the cable.
*cafe racer seat and tank
The Norton Commando's fuel tank is low and elongated, which doesn't really look like a cafe racer.
Moreover, the frame had a thick buttock shape, and it was difficult to make the seat well.
I made about 3 types of sheets with different widths and lengths and fitte to fuel tank.
*handle bar
Speaking of a cafe racer, it's probably a separate handlebar, but it's troublesome to change the top bridge and front light stay, so I chose a low and narrow Continental.
*wheel replace spokes
I assembled the wheel using the jig I made last time.
If you are about to start reupholstering spokes, we recommend using a jig.
*Painting
I used Fine Silver and Chrome Silver from Finishers.
*Finishers silver comparison
chrome silver
The color particles are large.
When painted with a black base, it becomes a black iron color close to silver. It's a deep silver.
However, if you apply it to a tank or something with a large area, the size of the particles will stand out and it will look like a lame paint.
It is recommended for painting thin parts such as mufflers, arms, and handles, as the particles are less noticeable.
If you use a special thinner, the luster (like a top coat) will be stronger.
The coating is strong after drying.
fine silver
The color particles are fine, but it does not become a plating paint.
Fine silver particles can be seen, but when painted, it is a white silver, aluminum-like color.
It is not easily affected by the color of the groundwork.
The coating is strong after drying.
Creos
silver
Easy to use and excellent silver. There is no color graininess at all.
If you use Finishers Fine Silver, you will want to use this, but Finishers seems to have a stronger coating.
shine silver
It feels like the chrome silver particles of the finishers are made even larger.
The advantage of Finishers Silver is that the coating is fairly strong. It is possible, although there is a slight influence of the top coat (especially the matte coat is bad). When applying decals, you will want to coat them.
See you soon!
Thank you all of you!! - Jak na to + styl
The cafe bikes are very nice, fun to watch!
Thank you😊😊
Really nice, my friend. And with the spokes perfectly straight. You said right, a real modeler doesn't use expensive upgrade parts if not really, really, really, needed.
Thank you for your heartfull comment.
Upgrade parts are more expensive than kits.
I want to use that money to buy another kit!
Thank you from your friends in Japan!
That is absolutely outstanding
Thank you so much!!!
Very nice!
Thank you so much!! .... Always Always
This lovely bike is ready to race between 2 café terraces !! Great work ! 👍👍
Wow! ! !
Thank you for your very nice comment! ! !
As always, another masterpiece created by the master! You always go the extra mile in your builds, and it pays off with the final results! I always look forward to your video builds 💯
Thank you for your always nice comments.
Reading your comment makes me want to make more models.
@Easy modeler's room please keep them coming! You are such an inspiration, and I really appreciate how you showed us the process of each modification you do! You're welcome, my friend 😊
Great 👍
Thank you so much!!
really getting into those cafe racers. nice bike again
It was difficult to change to the cafe racer style, but I am very happy to read your comment!
Wow another great build from your hands just love it, great build. Thank you
you're welcome! I am very happy with your comment!
Meraviglioso!
Grazie! !
On the last photos, please give overhead views as well as front to back and back to front. You do amazing work.
I took a picture of the top view and the front and back, but I didn't post it because it was very thin.
But after reading your comment, I will post such pictures in the future.
thank you!
Absolutely cool Norton Cafe Racer 🙂
thank you!
Norton is a great motorcycle!
I want to run while listening to the sound of the engine!
Another amazing piece of art !
thank you.
I want you to see all of my models!
¡Maravilloso trabajo! ¡Enhorabuena! :)
¡gracias!
¡Puedo usar mi gratitud hacia ti desde Japón!
Brilliant. Your attention to detail is stunning. The modifications and enhancing parts is breathtaking yet logical. I use Alclad for my chrome and also the heat staining on my bike models, what do you use?
Is it chrome painted?
I'm using Gaia Notes Mirror Chrome.
If I want to strengthen the paint film, I use Finishers Chrome Silver.
Thank you for your comment!
This is great build. 👍
Thank you so much!!!
tell me something by building such gr8 model kits of moor bikes , has it ever helped uin rectifying the mechanical problems faced in a real motor bike in real life by building such great motorbike kits
Superbe ! Waouh ! Magnifique technique !
Ton commentaire me motive à faire un modèle.
Merci toujours beaucoup.
Nice work especially the re-chroming and intricate detailing, imo the colours used on the handlebars,
forks and clocks make no sense at all and look as if you've stuck the back end on the front.
Do you have the Heller Honda CB750 or Laverda SFC 750?
I have a Tamiya 1/6 CB750.
I'm thinking of making a cafe racer type one day.
Thank you for your advice.
alot of work in those pedals
Pedals have a lot of linkage, so they are fun to build! thank you!
Excellent work on this model! What did you use to strip chrome from the sprues?
Thank you for your comment.
Separating parts?
Maybe an ultrasonic cutter?
how many of the italeri models had the parts numbered
I think ......200 to 300 I???
does imai still make motorcycle kits
I will be uploading my Harley Chopper today.
