He's got a healthy approach towards this fight. A lot of guys in his shoes would've tried diminishing the loss, but he's fully acknowledging it. It's a correct step in righting the wrong.

As someone who watched both fights, I can say Izzy looked great in both fights.
Alex was the more composed fighter. Imo Izzy’s youthful cockiness cost him both fights.
He matured a lot since then though and has mastered MMA much more than Alex up until now.

I really want to see Izzy throwing elbows, knees, uppercuts, body shots and hooks, jabs, push kicks, clinch work, movement in a faster gear every now and then. It's the opponents fault why izzy didn't need to kick it into higher gear in previous fights because of the lack of challenge being brought his way.

I may have gotten bored with izzy past few fights but he's what you want as a champion. He's more active than most contenders in other divisions
People talking about Izzy being boring. The onus is on his opponent to bring the fight. If the opponent is too scared to do anything, why would Izzy risk it. If you want the belt, come get it. Obviously Izzy is going to take the path of least resistance for the win. Stay on the outside and counter strike to an easy win and get paid.

Given both fighters styles, this has the potential for fireworks, but Izzy has such an overwhelming reach advantage to go with his quickness, footwork, precision and power that it’s hard imagining an upcoming Izzy fight not being similar to most of his other fights. Izzy will maintain proper distance and pick his opponent apart from the outside while daring them to get within his range to get KO’d just to try to land any good shots on him. Those brave enough to get within Izzy’s reach get KO’d. The other option is not putting yourself in that situation and Izzy winning a boring fight by UD.
Except Rob v Izzy 2, Rob did get into Izzy’s range and he 100% should have got that win. Beat him to the punch almost every time. That being said Rob got starched in their first fight.

Just to let you know, one of the interesting things about this fight is that it will be the first time he's fought in the UFC without having his height and reach advantage that he uses so well, Alex is also 6'4 with only a 1 inch difference with reach.

Alex has the abilities to fight from the outside and being a counter puncher himself. What he did to Strickland was easy work since Strickland didn't use any IQ. Being offensive against Adesanya in 4oz gloves is stupid because he might also get ko'd or even taken down. My guess would be that both fighters gonna move in and out and wait for mistakes and openings...

He can't win if he doesn't only counter punch. Izzy is lucky he exists in a division where there are no top level wrestlers that can take his punch and get to his body and take him down. You saw with Jan (who is not a great wrestler or really a top top level fighter) that once Izzy losses his size advantage (which is huge against anyone) he is in big big trouble. The only way for Izzy to win is counter punch an overly aggressive fighter or kick and jab you to a decision. When people are patient Izzy can't KO them and it leads to boring fights. Its a weak strategy but it helps you win and keep making money. Because if Izzy losses that title he can't go to light heavyweight and win so he's kinda screwed if he ever losses the title
Pereira has the same height and range, and can use them equally well.
