Super Orion Nuclear Interstellar Ark

  • Project Orion was a study of a starship intended to be directly propelled by a series of explosions of atomic bombs behind the craft (nuclear pulse propulsion)
The project was eventually abandoned for multiple reasons such as the Partial Test Ban Treaty which banned nuclear explosions in space as well as concerns over nuclear fallout.
The biggest design was the "Super" Orion design; at 8 million tons, 7250000000 Kilograms it could easily be a city.
One design proposed by Freeman Dyson for the "Super Orion" called for the pusher plate to be composed primarily of uranium or a transuranic element so that upon reaching a nearby star system the plate could be converted to nuclear fuel.

Several centuries in the future, long after the collapse of old nations due to nuclear war, a the inhabitants of a sparsely populated, yet technologically advanced Earth discover a large, 10-mile wide cluster of asteroids headed on a direct collision course with Earth. With twenty years to prepare, a fleet of vehicles is constructed to deflect the asteroids. However, one of them malfunctions, resulting in a cloud of much smaller rocks with the same projected devastation. However, this would be impossible to deflect.
Therefore, the only possible solution became the most unlikely one-Evacuation Earth. To carry such a mass of people off the planet and to other destinations in the Solar System to colonize, an ancient technology, one considered egregiously primitive, was reconsidered: the Orion Drive.

You sound like me 15 years ago.
Not to worry, you're not missing anything.
For so long I felt the same way, only because I allowed NASA to take me for a ride.
Ever notice how every president since Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama, Trump, and Biden upon being sworn in as president, starts off by promising us how Man will soon be going to Mars? They say the same thing over and over.
Well, here we sit, and we're still waiting.
And we're now in the year 2024 with all this advanced technology, and we still don't have a 'family portrait' of the earth, sun, and moon in the same frame.
      Hmm...
But let's look at another alternative of what reality really is.
For arguement sake, let us suppose we discover that we have been lied to on such a massive scale, and we learn that we can never leave the earth for various and obvious reasons that will come to light when you decide to consider researching the Nos Confunden's Terra Infinita files, and correlate that with the book titled Land Beyond The Poles, and the U.S. Navy's Admiral Richard E. Bird and his admittance and nationally televised confirmation of land as big as the U.S. never before seen beyond Antarctica.
Now, that puts you closer to being a part of history that's perhaps just around the corner, and seems more plausible, and more importantly, would agree with your sense of reasoning.
Otherwise, you can continue to keep sulking in a never-ending false pretense of an imagination that NASA has imprisoned you by.
Do some research on the aforementioned alternatives and have some fun. You have nothing to lose, and quite possibly a whole new spark of hope in your life to gain.
Bookmark my name and get back to me.
