With 292 points, a casual 44 point lead, and never giving up the pole position for long, Finland took home ESC 2006, with a standout performance that nobody will forget, for years to come.

No ESC winners after Lordi have achieved or will achieve the milestone Lordi did achieve and I'm not talking about points, they're historically memorable, remarkably remembered, and ICONIC. Because they're UNIQUE and AUTHENTIC. Nobody will ever come close to LORDI.

Any Finns here? I just typed what was on the sign that lordi we’re holding up at 6:38 into google translate and it’s translated to “We’ll meet at the market place” is that right? Seems a bit random. 👹
Yes i'm a Finn! "Torilla tavataan" means exactly that, when we have a big victory in something (usually ice hockey) we have a huge party at the main market place in our capital Helsinki and lots of people & the winners go there to celebrate together. That happened also with Lordi. I can say i will never forget that evening, because it's kind of a common joke & bitterness here that we never win the Eurovision. We were all crazy happy 😊. Riikka Lindström thank you for sharing that, of course the sign makes perfect sense now. 👍 I’m glad everyone in Finland was so happy to celebrate their win, after all but giving up hope of ever winning it. They may have had to wait a long time for it, but they ended up with one of the most memorable Eurovision winners ever, so I imagine it was probably worth the wait. 🇫🇮🏆
