  • My honest review of the TopBoxer training gloves review made by Irfan Muhammad in Pakistan. I compare his custom models with the stock models. And also compare his gloves to Winning gloves.

I own 2 pair of custom TopBoxer’s. 1 20oz pair of Alien lace ups with welted seams and the other pair a 20oz Win1 lace ups with welted seams. These are my favorite gloves and I own Reyes, Rival and Winning. He took my mental impressions and brought them to life in the most fantastic and comfortable gloves I own. They are different in profile and padding but are head and shoulders better than any gloves I have ever owned. The leather is plush and durable. The padding is soft and protective on the Win1. The padding on the Alien is firm and you can transfer kinetic energy through the striking knuckles. Both are the most comfortable gloves I have ever worn. The only knock: they are so beautifully made that I don’t want to wear them out. But if you want to punch at the limits of your physical strength and not worry about cranking your wrist or tweaking a knuckle, these are the best gloves you’ll ever buy.

Tight double stitching is due to having a real expensive servo sewing machine . Servo motors are smoother and more reliable . The thumbs are so much better than the usual molded foam gloves like RTC because he makes them separately. They are routed/molded. They are also made of harder foam. His custom price is pretty unreal at less than $179.

I use cleto reyes 14oz for my bag and pad work, never had an issue with damaging hands. I really dislike using 16’s, especially as I don’t spar much anymore. Would you recommend getting a pair of 12oz aliens and 14oz win1’s? I think I’m going to order two regardless, but I’ve been seeing some reviews saying 14oz aliens feel bigger than normal 14’s. @@mannymartinezpasco8030 no they’re a decent size a bit bigger than my winning 14s ,bear in mind that the padding he uses in the 14s is different and much stiffer than the 16s, probably too stiff for sparring without a lot of breaking in, but they have great wrist support and make a great connect with pads and heavy bag.

Those black and gold customs are beautiful! I have some stock 16oz TopBoxer Win 1's and I love how pillowy they are, really nice for doing heavy bag work. Great wrist support despite it being the velcro style. The thumb feels a bit too stiff and awkward for me, but hopefully with time it will break in more so it's more comfortable. Also the liner was a bit loose in the finger compartment, but doesn't really cause problems. For $110 you're getting a lot of quality compared to other gloves at the same price point.

I know that the boxing is a sport where you take a lots of punches, and injuries are common, and a part of this sport, but i am talking about preventing the injuries that are related with a bad technics and bad form, like - shoulders, neck, nuckles injuries - not the injuries taken by punches. Very awesome and thorough review johnny. I am still on the fence about getting some top boxer gloves or just stop playing around and buy some winnings. I read your very well-written and hilarious review about winning-USA Kazumichi. I was also wondering what was going on with their website and if they were legit too! So you captured what I was thinking about seeing if this route to purchase authentic winning gear was not a scam. I know this is a Too boxer review but I need a glove to last and I am looking at a 12 oz pair of winnings. I am also 230 pounds as well. But once I start seriously boxing again I will easily lose about 40 pounds. In your opinion should I just get the winnings because I can afford them or give top boxer a try? I know enough time hasn’t passed for you to know if TopBoxer is worth it quite yet, but I take your advice VERY serious. What are your thoughts?

Your criticism of Pakistani boxing equipment is extremely biased. Yes, there are cheaply made gloves that are sold out of Pakistan, but there are also quality gloves sold. You have a harsh criticism of Pakistani gloves, but they have many qualities that Mexican gloves could benefit from.
You are a huge fan of Necali and Mexican style gloves. But Mexican gloves are notorious for being off weight. Why would I buy a 16 oz glove that will actually weigh 20 oz? Mexican dye also does not stay on the leather, it bleeds like crazy. Will stain your hands and your wraps. In addition, Mexican gloves have a rough inside liner. And stitching can be questionable. Mexican thumbs also have design flaws.
At the end of the day, it’s about the maker and their molds. Not the country of origin. You can combine some features from a lot of molds to make a quality glove. Rivals makes their leather style gloves in Pakistan and they are quality. I think you’re way too biased Johnny, and it comes out in a lot of your reviews.
