Hi There, I am 58 year old female and with a very narrow upper palate, over bite and underdeveloped lower jaw - was never offered braces as a kid and now seeing about braces - i am being told I need SARPE > braces > double jaw surgery LeForte - I live in Alberta Canada - is there any one doing this Minimally Invasive palate expansion ? Am I too old to pursue any of this very invasive surgery - all seems high risk for someone my age.

At 26:43 it says Zaghi's MIND was done turning in July 2022. Should that be July 2023 instead? I saw Zaghi in July 2022 for a consult and didn't notice any distema on him.
Yes, this was just done in 2023.
Does mind do posterior and anterior split?
Appears to do a parallel split. But depending on where you put the custom MARPE I guess you could achieve a more post/anterior split depending on the patients need.
What is the cost of MIND??

Why would one choose MIND instead of jaw surgery?
MIND just like EASE is a surgical way of expanding the upper jaw. MIND uses a custom MARPE expander whereas EASE uses a KLS expander. I think there might be differnces in the surgical approach as well. Bu tbasically if you can't breathe through your nose well you might have a narrow palate. The palate is the roof of the nose. So if you expand the upper jaw you (in theory) expand the upper airway. There are many different ways to expand the palate but so far MIND/EASE seem to produce a better result in also affecting the upper airway. A positive side effect of the procedure is that your mid face will become wider and more square.

@@rickrobinson8417 You can do a lefort 3 piece but I believe that doesn't affect the airway the same way because you're not "loosening" the whole maxiilla. But I could be wrong. There's other ways like SARPE/DOME but honestly I'd stay away from those. Some adults have success with custom MARPE. If you have issues breathing through your nose I'd do something like EASE or MIND first than MMA surgery to correct the lower airway.

yes of course you can expand the maxilla and even mandible with jaw surgery. its just that not all surgeons do it. watch some videos from dr. paul oceancig. he shows how he cuts the maxilla and mandible down the middle to expand them in surgery
