How to Make a CRUMB QUILT - Use a Panel - Beginner Friendly!

- I was watching Tracy's Crumb Quilting video on The Sewing Channel and was intrigued. She pointed us to the Fabric Patch channel to get the Crumb Cake pattern. And I thought - SUPERSIZE! So, instead of cutting my strips into skinny strips, I enlarged the measurements to make wider strips and used those wider strips to make my Supersize version of the Fabric Patch Crumb Cake pattern. I guess I am making Morsel Quilt instead of a Crumb Quilt.

I think the solid around the picture makes it so much more readable. It is nice to have those blocks stand out.
We learn something from every quilt we make. I like April's attitude of "next time ." Cause some days I refuse to unsew, and just be happy with the results as they are. It's still a lovely cheerful quilt!

I love playing in my real crumbs, scraps, and strips better. No two blocks are ever the same. But, this is a great idea of how to make a quilt out of panels. I love the colors you used. I love that cat and the two dogs (they are so cute).

I use this technique to fill in around squares on tshirt squares when they aren't all the same size.
I bought a quilt panel at a quilt show with no extra fabrics to go with it. Now, I can make it.

I really like my June Taylor shape cut I bought both sizes! (Joanns with a coupon) Makes cutting your own jelly roll strips or binding easy with the big one cause the slots are 2 1/2" apart, no chance of getting one the wrong size.
The colors you chose are so cheerful, I'm with you on the framing, it makes the panel pop and gives your eye a place to rest.

Hello, I watched your you tube on your first quilt as you go. Well I put mine together today and I am so excited how it is coming out. It is my first quilt that is square when I fold it. I did not make it big enough it is five 9 in square across and six down. My hubby is pretty tall so I am going to add a boarder or two around it. When It is done I would like to send a picture. What a good idea for panel pieces. I have some panels that I have not really been sure how to use and this could work with them. I have a ruler like the one you used and I love it it has made my cutting so much better although I was a bit concerned about Oliver’s swishy tale at one point!

The wide block could have been kept as wide as printed and borders on the top and the bottom to make it as tall as the other blocks. Then put it in the second row down from the top, making the side blocks smaller so that the row is the same size as the other rows.

So not sure where but if you Google 3 wishes camper panel I think you might be able to find it

Each time I use a panel, it's always wonky and I can't seem to get it squared...do you have any suggestions
There are some tutorials out there on how to straighten them. I just go with it and add to the sides. It always seems to work out in the wash. You can trim the panel to be even after pressing. You will just lose some of the edges.
