These 2 English Romantics, following in the shadow of Kant and rebelling against the Enlightenment, sought refuge in pantheism’s esoterica.

Except this guys is totally wrong. Milton would’ve grown up under the pretense of the divine right of kings. Rebelling against a king IS rebelling against god. I argue that’s why he shows satan so much sympathy in his text. He relates to Satan on a personal level. He knows what it’s like to be in Eden and feel as if he’s in hell. Milton’s Eden was England and as soon as the monarchy was regained, his Eden became hell.

Thanks to the reformation, we are all debt slaves, and the churches are completely okay with it.

It sounds more like he was challenging the idea of the divine right of kings. Just cause that was the official stance of the state and church doesn’t mean Milton subscribed to it.

No, Milton was a Puritan, which is a religious tradition expressly against the divine right of kings

I understand "rebellion" against God. God ignore the prayers of tiny children as they waited in line to enter the gas chambers, holding tighting onto their mothers' hands. If God rejected the covenant, then we have a right to also QUESTION whether we should worship God. We can appreciate God and be a "partner." But worship is out of the question. This is not necessarily "rebellion" it is just recognizing that if God has faults, we too should be excused for ours.
Sorry: When God rejected the Covenant, there is a price for that.

God is with people who suffer. I lost my mother a couple of months ago. I was furious at God, because he didn't answer my prayers. Strangely though I still feel God's love and Him understanding my pain. He loves us so much that he sacrificed His son Jesus and opened heaven for us. After death, you are free from the vices of the material world and I believe all good people who suffered unjustly are now free from that pain of existence in a unjust world. Atleast that's my opinion and you are free to share yours. God bless.

@@erykmelgaard2226 I offer my profound condolences on your loss and thank you for your post.
I do not reject God or am even “angry” with God. I have been given blessings beyond my deserving of them.
Rather, my relationship with God is deep gratitude and appreciation. We are loving partners. I do not worship because according to Jewish Law, I am not permitted to “forgive” acts done against others. God set up this system and must take responsibility for it.

@@sanjosemike3137 As Christians we are to forgive and allow God to be the judge. You are rebelling by elevating yourself to his level (you call it partner). Just pray and meditate on his word and you will find peace.

@@kermitec Some "sensitivity" is required when dealing with Jews. Some Jews regard "conversion to Christianity" as another nail in the coffin of Judaism and another "win" for the Holocaust. (One less Jew).
I realize this concept is foreign to you and that you do not understand it. One of the purposes of the Internet is to explain things to Christians that they do not understand.
I am not elevating myself to the level of God. God ignored the Jews in the Holocaust. Jews are not allowed to "forgive" crimes against others, only oneself. I cannot forgive God for others, only myself.
God ignored the Covenant: He must bear the brunt of that decision and accept responsibility for it. If I am condemned to Hell for this, then sobeit.

    The preacher and The poet
    You are wrong quite wrong
cried The preacher to The Poet
inside the circle from where they both stood
For it all went wrong long before you came along
for the wine has been tainted with blood
And the heaven which you speak
    long denied to the weak
has been packed up and shipped off abroad
because the Lord was no fool
when he laid down the rule
for his word is a double edged sword
    To subject and neglect
    not to serve or protect
nor revealing it’s truth by design
but to cut down the wood
of the great and the good
forever stealing what’s yours is now mine
So why not attend with all those that pretend
that the beast it lies slain on the floor
    and whilst it lays sleeping
    continuously keeping
it fed with the tears of the poor
You are with without deed did The poet proceed
    whilst revealing the spirit within
and as you try to succeed I will strive to impede
    your trickery and every whim
With each lie I’ll explain every counterfeit claim
every briefing you try to suppress
    bringing light to the gloom
    your cadaver perfume
every crease that you hide in your dress
For the time now has come
    and the world has begun
to awaken from where it once slept
No longer The reaper for you where the keeper
of all that was lost and bereft
And so The preacher came forth
as if to seek a reward
for what it was he was about to relay
    Speaking somewhat obscure
with one eye on the door
    moving nearer whilst edging away
For there’s no more to do
    for all that’s been done
    was designed from the start
    for the way it’s become
    and your final chapter
shall be filled with my laughter
whilst yourself you shall not overcome
    For every hurdle and frame
    has now rendered you lame
on this land there’ll be nowhere to hide
    so unless you repent
    to myself evident
not a friend will you have to confide
For the ghost in this room
    shall be visited soon
by whosoever the future should favour
    neither weaken nor die
    but demand and supply
    a harvest of continual labour
    And then shall I own
    manifest fully grown
the devil come forth from the womb
    and yours it shall not
for I care not a jot
that your god remains dead in its tomb
And so The poet kept writing
    but began by inviting
The preacher sit down by his side
and as the preacher looked over
    the poet his shoulder
did no further the preacher deride
But was taken to read the extra ordinary creed
that the poet set forth with his pen
    filled with shame and remorse
he sunk down on all fours
with his head in his hands as he fell
And the words that he read
    should remain in his head
when he realised the mistake he had made
full of fear and dread for himself had misled
it was he that had dug his own grave
And it’s not ours to quote which the poet had wrote
for those that do speak seldom do
    for deep in our soul
    there’s a spade and a hole
that we dig when we stray from what’s true
