Weedeater Pull Cord Snip & Repair

Step by step instructions installing a new pull rope. Not included in this short shot: the small flat rectangular metal guide that's screwed to the housing to hold the pulley in place. Forgetting this important piece will stop the rope from retracting correctly or at all.

It was unclear what you did between threading the rope through the hole initially............. How did you tie it down (with a knot?). Also, did you roll up the string first. You went from threading to screwing back the two metal braces... That 'middle' part is what I was looking for and with which having issues..........

As others stated it seems you skimmed over the most important part. How did you attach rope and how much did you wind around spool? Also does the spring mechanism stay in place or as I am expecting does it release when you take all this apart?
