Yeah I agree, we need more new games that aren't repetitive or not remade from an already existing game.
Its also sad how Roblox doesn't even recommend new and original games that look amazing and have effort put into it, I hate that the people have to spend their robux or even money to try and recommend their games to people that might not even get the ad or click on it.

Kreek is correct, the games aren't the problem, but the recommendation system is. It keeps showing the players the same games from the same developers every time, and this shows that popular games will just get even more popular and overshadow new games made by different developers.

You could always try older games, perhaps ones that once used to be extremely popular but kind of died out with the change of players' tastes, such as 'Field of Battle', a medieval game made in 2014 which used to be a front page game. Or 'Armored Patrol', games like that. That might make a nice change, and the publicity would be beneficial to those older, arguably more fun games as well.

What roblox really needs to add is a new search feature for example: if I like fighting games I should be able to search for a specific genre from fighting to roleplay to hangouts and etc but at the same time also being able to search how old the game is from oldest to latest and most to least popular.

Another problem is that developers who made games with a small community usually don’t have their game featured, so it would be hard for their game to be noticed by more, which lowers the chance of it gaining popularity, unless a popular CZcamsr plays the game and helps increase its popularity.
Fr like Money sim X by tutili is a prime example of this, it has a small community but is a lot of fun, moreover, its not like you can spend like 15k robux to literally beat the game. Don't get me wrong, gamepasses are nice, but spamming them makes the game purely a cashgrab.

4:30-3:37 Those exact words remind me of the simulator games, a few of which I regretfully wasted my time on and firmly believe to this day (and it's one of the reasons why I myself quit on the 28th of July 2022 after 8 years and 20 days) that they replaced tycoons. But one thing's for sure for us older players: Tycoons and the classic rp games like welcome to the town of Robloxia will always have a place in our hearts.
On the subject of change, in WAAPP the renovation of the Dump is what made me abandon that game entirely.
But really the major event that sparked my thoughts of quitting is the permanent closure of Paper Mario Roleplay by Dogon and Super Mario 3D Roleplay by Mahdioh in August 2018. I didn't quit then, as I remembered the one game that has been around since Christmas day 2014: Tradelands. It reminded me of Galleons by Wingman8 which at one point broke and as it re-opened, *literally nobody came back to it at all, sealing my permanent decision.* It was similar to how Team Twisted stopped updating Tiny Town entirely, resulting in its public abandonment.

Sadly, creativity completely died on roblox. We used to have some pretty creative games, but now we have just crappy clicker games, anime games, simulator games and that's just some hot garbage.
Bit late to the party but I think there's another 2 reasons, 1st one is Roblox tech, I recently got sent a devforum post by Roblox about reformable meshes and being able to change the texture in game, on 1 hand a well needed update, on the other hand, they finally got around to adding a feature which is industry standard for at least a decade now, I was pretty excited to hear volumetric clouds were coming a year or 2 back but it was pretty subpar and we can't properly make our own. There's entire tutorials on how to make stunning clouds for not too bad of a performance hit but we can't do any of that because we don't have the engine or GPU level access like you have in any game engine.
Another is money and places to reach, all these games are pretty easy to make to the point there's tutorials on how to make them, I've spent a year working on and off on optimizing a script for performance and I still don't have a functional game, I could have used that effort towards learning how to use Unreal and I'd have an amazing tool on my hands

Play phighting! It’s a fun csgo like game with different characters and different abilities, There’s barley any cash grabs! Just donation button, The game is so fun and you have to work hard for money and to win! The only problem is the Grindy and sweats but it’s really fun! Its so pretty also it only averages 100-600 players try it out!
HOURS is another good one, a third-person roguelite beat-em-up where the main gimmick is the time controlling abilities. The more you progress with each character, the more of everything you unlock. The only payments are a donation and bonus content pass.

After looking at this, the devs just want money. Since the audience is mostly kids, people make low effort simulators to make a quick buck. Roblox needs to up their standards in game quality, it’s very annoying finding predatory cash grab games for kids. People need to get more creative in their games and make more unique games.
You should try dummies vs noobs, it's really fun and probably my favorite game. It's one of those games where you fight a horde of enemies as a team, where you play as different classes. Teamwork is a big aspect of the game. It usually averages around 500-1.5k players a day, and you could get it more popular.
As someone who searches really hard to find those unpopular detailed and fun games, the main problem for some of them, is that they don't get updated well enough or as often as players want.

the exact way to fix this would be to just add a preference system, you can select what games you love the most and what genres you are looking for and itll morph your discover page into more reccomendations for those types of games
see, roblox used to have that type of feature. you'd put in the type of game genre you want to play, and it'd show you that. it was back in i believe when guests were starting to get removed did that happen.

Here's some interesting roblox games which are actually kinda unique and good but underrated
1.empire clash-realistic graphics,medieval based games and you can be a soldier,doctor,general,king etc and 2 huge maps and classes got skill trees.
2.bordr gam-a goofy and colorful border game with simple combat system and a ton of roles,probably one of the biggest hierarchy type game,ton of things to do here
3.infectious smile-a zombie infectious type game with a ongoing lore and lots of weapons and like 20+ maps
Low key roblox needs to implement some sort of algorithm that changes each time u refresh the discover place and depending on what u search. This not only will benefit small developers but it will show new games. Or they could add multiple tabs similar to yt like trending and specific genres.

Try Verdant Moon, post-apocalyptic fantasy, dead game, if you’re the kind of person who is a theorist maniac on lore-based game I’m sure you’ll at least like it somehow, and also unlike the background music in most games that make you insane of constant grinding the background music for this game is amazing. Plus you don’t really need to grind levels you just explore the game. Don’t worry you’ll find a lot of cool stuff when you think you’ve ended the journey just keep exploring.
Whats annoying is that nowadays, games are only made for the profit they will get out of it, and completely discarded the enjoyment they would bring out of it. I'd be working my butt of in one of these stimulator games to make little to no progress, but all I need to do is buy one expensive gamepass, and Im the strongest player in the server in a matter of 2 days.

Copyrighted artists, guess how many, Jake’s or masters difficult chart, wacky wizards, get to the top, walk home in Ohio,pet escape 2, parkour, regretavator, cheese escape, POV: your a cockroach in my house, find the markers, start survey?, horrific housing, backpacking, banana eats, panik, and every second you get +1 walk speed!

You should do a thing where you take a look at your comments and read the games they suggest for you to play so even if you know what the game is, and maybe you've played it and you don't like it, you'll expose more people to these good well made types of games and then they will get bigger fanbases and ROBLOX may do something about the problem, or you could find a game you might like, my personal recommendation is like Deepwoken, most people don't play it although it's arguably the most well-made game on ROBLOX and is super duper fun, you could also revive well made games with your CZcams status, like Polyguns which is a dead game that's insanely well made for ROBLOX, now I'm mainly recommending all of these because they're games people don't want to play because they don't want to expand their taste but maybe if you show them how fun they can be then they may want to, but yeah just an idea idk
Barely any developers nowadays are willing to take risks and create something new and original. They're too worried that since nobody's done it, nobody will like it. If someone's already made a popular game, developers will see that and say "If that got popular, I could just do the same thing, and why it get popular?". A lot of people don't understand that making a new game isn't a curse as long as the new game you made has a cool idea and it's actually fun. You have to struggle for your own unique ideas to get popular, so if you think you have a good idea but it might not get popular, you still have to try.
Games like vampire hunters 3, world tower defense, mutation and platform battles are 4 games I can think of which broke off popular genres, sad thing is they're all kinda dead games, the truth is the risk is real and giant, you could spend months putting effort only to be beaten by skibidi toilet story game made in 2 weeks

Actually the sketch game is parkour reborn, it has a lot of hype for it to be released but it’s currently in its alpha testing phase and costs 350 robux to play, that’s why it hasn’t been recommended yet
To fix this, I have a complete different game in roblox, I searched whole roblox and did not found that type of game. This game is "all category".

[I think the biggest problem with modern Roblox is simply the fact that 90% of front page games are made with monetization in mind. Everything is about making money instead of making genuinely entertaining experiences for anyone over the age of 8.]

i agree 100%, the community is working hard to give us entertainment, but nowadays on roblox that is very rare. For example games like pet sim x its all P2W. And roblox is making it worse by allowing online dating. It really disappoints me on how roblox is acting, and how developers like big games is completely wasting their potential for some cash.

There are alot of really good games that just barley get recommended at all, just last week i found about this parkour game called Parkour reborn, when i decided to give it a try it ended up being one of the most fun games i have ever tried on roblox despite it never being recommended to me. the recommended section of roblox really needs a rework so that people can find new games to play like this one.
I got a good game i found that I like to play it's called Tiny Sailors World where you complete voyages across the world to earn money but if you make a shipping line it's even more fun in shipping line mode you complete voyages to earn money and prestige and you can customize your shipping line logo, name, and description any time you want. and they sometimes have events when ever their is a holiday coming up and it's super fun I recommend trying it out!

I would say the main issue is the discover page constantly showing the same popular games over and over even tho there are a bunch of not so popular hidden gems
This is a good video, but there's something that I want to add here. The whole point of Roblox's "Discover" page is to help you find new games for you to play and enjoy, and as you stated, this page has failed to do so because of their bad recommendation system. The HOME page, however, is a slightly different matter, or at least in my experience, it is. You go into your home page, and what do you see? Games you've already played, the "Recommendation For You" section actually somewhat works better than the Discover version, somewhat meaning that 30% of those games are based on the games I've actually played before, and even in some sections, you can find some games you've never seen on the Discover page. In other words, the algorithm in the Home page works a bit better than the one in the Discover page. Why is that? Maybe it's because Roblox doesn't want you to leave the Home page? Who knows, but what bothers me more now that I think about it, is why does the Default Home page even recommend you games for you to check out? Isn't that the whole point of using the Discover page? I thought the Discover page was supposed to be for finding games, yet, you can just do it on the Home page instead, and it even works better too, making the Discover page almost entirely pointless.

You should try Noobs vs Zombies: Realish. It’s pretty fun and you level up to unlock more weapons and gadgets. It averages only 10 players unfortunately, even though it’s pretty fun. I’ve played since 2018 and this is one of the only games that I have played since my account was created consistently.
Roblox is just dying out quickly. This has happened to me for the past 4-7 months. It hasn’t been more fun as it used to been back in the day when it was actually good, I would say if Roblox made an update that would get rid of all the bordem, it would have a better impact for me and other players. What I’ve been doing is just playing the same Roblox game for days and the games that I have on my pin tab, I barely even play those games any more.

Kreek Craft, I had this same problem, one time I was looking for a game to play and I thought " Why are all the games on the discover page all have at least 3k players or more." and since then I have not found a new game to play.

I honestly don't think Roblox has any sort of personalized algorithm to what games each player enjoys. As Kreek pointed out CZcams recommends you videos that you'd like based on what you watch. Roblox, seems to just promote games that are popular. Now I don't think that's exactly a bad thing, especially since they're popular for a reason. As well, that's great from a company perspective, but to a player...that's not something you'd want. I don't expect much to change though since it works really well to getting people hooked on the game, especially kids.
it definitely could help some, but that doesn't completely solve the issue. algorithms don't exactly give you what you're looking for, and it could potentially limit what you do want to see.
I think to help you find games is find out what genres of game you like, if you like fnaf, like me I play TPRR to roleplay or chat and play around. I also like Obbies so sometimes I play FE2, a fast paced obby game. This might not help for some people but my main point is to find your favorite roblox genres.

As a Roblox gamer since 2011, games got repetitive when it hit 2018 (from simulators) - same game format and genre mechanics were just copied and pasted in multiple games. No one used there imagination with making games anymore, they make it for fame and money. But its all the roblox game search and recommendations which are the issue. New games don't get enough attention due to multiple games which are similar to each other.
My fav games were - Field of Battle, R2D, Mad murderer, Mad Paintball, Paintball Frenzy, Call of Robloxia, Jet Wars, Underground warriors, Base wars and Twisted Murderer....
here are some games I have personally enjoyed if you want some verity:
The upgrade tree of left (simulator type of game but more unique good)
Tower creator (obby creator but good)
I wanna test the game (very unique troll type obby)
running from the internet (nextbot game where you can fight back)
evolve (like the first stage of spore but you can fight each other)
hope there is people out there that can enjoy some of these games! also if you want comment some of your own because like, I need some new games to play too.

One of the big problems that also keeps getting mentioned is that we are older now, and these games are targeting little kids who have their parent's credit cards.
Guys, try Lore Game .-. exploration type game almost no tutorial at all, the vibe is unique, small community, tbh it doesn’t really need a surge of players but if you’re a player who has lost passion and keeps on trying their luck on rpg simulators, try it.
I predicted this way back in 2018 with very innovative and fun games like the Conquerors, Pilgrim Islands Reborn and other examples not being promoted, while clones of successful games seemed to be pinned permanently on the front page. One of the saddest victims of the recommendation system were Speedrun 4, Galleons, Armored Patrol, and most notably the legendary Roblox Battle, which has no players.
I’m also wondering how their algorithm works. Not much transparency there. Are these “Don’t Move” games rising in the ranks because they have high play times due to Limited UGC hunters? Are those games overshadowing the actual good games?

The main issue is the way roblox recommends games: it values the "addictiveness" of the game over its actual fun factor. Take Pet Simulator X as an example, it's a really addictive and visually well-made game but its "grindy" gameplay sacrifices fun for engagement and retention.

I agree with all this, we need a better recommendation system for roblox, a block game feature would be cool too (also the name of that parkour name is called parkour)
this is the same thing for me. Roblox was my first game to start off with and i really used to spend time playing it. Then a time came that I wasn't really sure what to play and spend my time gaming, which made me switch from roblox to other PC games. It will genuinely be really helpful if roblox brings a recommendation system like youtube which shows games of my interest.

Maybe before you create an account it will ask you what genre you like yo play and it will recommend games like that and you could change which genre type you like from the settings? Or maybe it could see what games you play and then show you games similar to the ones you played? This is just my idea about what they could add

i agree 2023 august i started 2 grade but then roblox was falling i stoped playing it from games
Roblox is slowly turning into a social media platform
Roblox just needs to add tags and a Filter option to make me able to find games I want to play a whole lot easier
they did have that back in 2016 to 2006.
I really agree, I havent touched roblox in months now. I will come back when the SCP Rbreach revamp comes out or when Blackout Revival comes out too.

Finally, someone that agrees and fully acknowledges the facts of the Roblox games right now. From what others had said, good games have been buried by repetitive and low effort cash grabs. I agree that the concept of Blade Ball is not bad, a simple concept yet executed horribly, turning into a cash grab and purchasable items almost everywhere.
Roblox fails to deliver on a good system where different games or recommended, and not just the ones that are doing well and making them money.
Due to this, I infer most people have resorted to the same game with low acknowledgement and low player count, and this is contributing to the boringness of Roblox now.
In conclusion, I do not blame the game creators. If it makes you money, you would want to do it. But on Roblox's part, they fail horribly to deliver on a better recommendation system among many other things.

This is very true! I’ve been trying to find games like Warm isolation and just chill games with unsettling lore but roblox keeps recommending me “Raise a baby” or some random squid game that has like 5 visits and 1 person playing 😭😭
Recently I have not played roblox and have been trying other games such as star stable but if I do play roblox I either play bloxburg and work on my house or play story games because there isn’t really much to do anymore

The only thing that's recommending you stuff is the "recommended for you" category. Everything else is just tracking categories, not trying to find your preferences.
I understand that Roblox does a lot of things wrong and stuff but this is the one thing that's barely their fault and it's kinda sad that they're getting blamed for this.
This is almost if not completely the fault of the playerbase and devs just making popular games but distinct enough to not get copwright struck.
Roblox is a company, they can't just give up profit. Everyone is like "oh bring back old roblox your going to get a gezillion trillion players" but thats obviously not going to happen. Everyone is protesting without actually doing anything, So roblox has no incentive to listen.

I can't describe how much i agree with kreek,
Theres like 10 copies of the same games im slowly becoming more distant from roblox my friends keeping me hanging on threads giving me some games enjoyable to play.
The problem is with the recommended page is that the show you what's popular which is copies of the same games which give smaller games and devs no chance on their work which is disappointing,The recommended is just showing you the games you have played and if your lucky copies of the game or the total opposite of what you want to play.

I have been planning to make myself an original game based on my creativity but... I have no roblox studio so, soon in the future i will try making it and yes roblox needs yo recommend the games with a small community to give them a chancr to rise up and people can find it interesting
to anyone who wants to search for newer games: what i usually do is click on a game ive played thats different and unique compared to other games (like radiant residents) and then scroll down and ill find other games similar to that underneath it thats not as popular but is really fun, and ill keep doing that over and over until i find something thats rarely played.

The thing about roblox devs is they are scared that their idea will fail and their time and effort will go to waste. That is what makes it hard to find a good game on roblox, if everyone had a creative idea which im sure they most likely did, and were not scared of failure (example deepwoken imo) we would find roblox more fun.

I've been discussing the Roblox discovery system for more than a year now on the Developer Forum. The Search & Discovery team at Roblox aren't listening to the community, which is evident by devforum activity, or rather the lack there of. I could give example and go on about various things. In short, Roblox is focused on semantic search, AI, and catering to investors.

Try using the homepage feature, it recommends you games of different genres that changes as you play different games.
I agree but another problem with the recommended page is that it doesn't show the good games which in turn, results in them not getting enough players as they should which can not only kill a game, but can also kill a entire genre.
An example of this is the adventure games category which i and many others enjoy, has sadly been killed off by this issue, some examples are
Adventure forward 1-2
Dungeon adventure
Uhh.wav
And many more.
However, this situation can get much worse, because when a game dies,
The developers quit which allows hackers to deliver the final blow that kills the game then causes a chain reaction of panic in the genre potentially shutting down other games.

This is why I stick to those old but gold Roblox games that are still fun and are not dead yet just like Lumber Tycoon 2, Natural Disaster Survival, Armored Patrol, etc. Plus you gotta appreciate those underrated games that are really cool and fun such as "Guts & Blackpowder, Entrenched, D-Day, Voxlblade, Downfall Sandbox (AOT-based titan killing game), AOT Freedom War, Entry Point, and more.

Yea I agree I mean the thing that triggers me are like events like Christmas events and ect and most of the time I just find a game an I try it and I like it and after like a week or a month and they never update or make a good update I just like” meh I will just quit this” and never again
A thing that I noticed is that if you want to find a game that is good, try putting “beta test” or “Alpha” because for some reason most good games are in early versions
Majority of the times they stay in early verisons sense the devs arent getting the regonization and lose confidence over time
