Dad was part of the Christmas "gift of love." OmG. I can't imagine how painful that Christmas was for those children. Yes, horrific child abuse and Dad was there.
And, Kevin's lawyer said Kevin wasn't part of any of the physical abuse. Kevin was there when Ruby withheld food from the children, that's physical abuse.
Kevin should never get custody of the kids.

I'm not saying Kevin didn't know what was going on but she definitely wore the boots in that household! He just went along with whatever she told him to do! But it's no excuse, he either loved Ruby more then his kids snd went along with it because he's a coward, AND/ OR he didn't give a shit about the welfare of his children , either way he's a grown adult, "MAN OF THE HOUSE," HE should of stood up to her and said enough is enough!!!

She’s right, I’m not willing to, as a parent, abuse my children. I don’t take joy in making them cry, I also don’t starve them or tie them up. I hope her and Jodi absolutely hate every minute they spend in prison.

Imagine what association those poor children have with love, after being deprived of Christmas gifts and being told that they would, instead, receive the “gift of love”! I suspect that they didn’t actually get an extra dose of love from their parents that day. Instead, they’ve been taught that love = punishment. 💔

Kevin is as guilty as his wife and should be arrested. This Pam Bodtcher should be charged too with making children do her cleaning.

These ppl really make me sick. Including Pam. They are infuriating. They weren't even in shock when the cop said Ruby had been atrested for child abuse ! They didnt blink an eye. There is something seriously wrong with all these ppl.
I just realised what Ruby said in the Xmas video. She said... " i love your SOULS more than anything else ".. that makes so much sense with how they treat their children. There is no "normal" love here. The love they speak of is about their souls, repent, repent, repent so we can be together as a family on the other side. Nothing else matters.

Pam started right off telling the police a lie. She said she picked up the girls to do some cleaning for her. She left out the part where Ruby called her and asked her to pick up the girls. She was immediately trying to distance herself from Ruby and Jodi.
"Hey, kids, your mother asked me to bring you here because of a family emergency. Go scrub my floor!" No concern at all for the children's worry about the emergency?
She never asks about the wellbeing of the kids. She doesn't care. She's only worried about herself.

I was so thoroughly disgusted about Ruby and Kevin withholding Xmas gifts from the 2 youngest children while giving the older children gifts from Santa.

This happened to me when I was 10 years old. My four siblings got Christmas gifts. My mother told me she only had enough money to buy one person a gift and I got nothing. I sat there and tried to hold back the tears and tried to fake like nothing was wrong it hurt so bad. And then my narcissistic mother made fun of me and threw a baby doll at me and said here it’s a baby doll for a baby you can have it. Some really nasty people in this world
At my kid's old school there was a mom who announced to a whole open house that she was mad her kid was eating his whole lunch on the bus the way to school and her solution was NOT to send him in with more food. That same kid became a terrible bully towards the girls and eventually threatened to bring a knife to school to attack them. I think mandated reporters need to understand that withholding food is abuse and to contact authorities over it.
That sounds also like a boy who didn’t get enough to eat for breakfast, or dinner.
Ruby really seems to dislike the two youngest kids for some bizzare reason. Sadistic psychopath needs to spend a longggg time in prison 😡

What infuriates me is the idea that as parents they believe they can “take away Christmas”…regardless if there are gifts or not. If they believed their kids didn’t appreciate the gifts, where do you suppose that started? Maybe they should have been more aware of the celebration of Christmas and less focused on multitude of gifts….$$ seems to be a problem the parents haven’t figured out, so the kids have to suffer their guilt? So sad…I hope the kids heal with true love.

I did find it interesting Pam didn’t mention sooner (like, right off the bat) that Ruby called and said there was a family emergency. If I were in a situation where a friend called and said that and asked me to pick up their kids and then POLICE show up to my house, I think those would have been some of the first words out of my mouth, along with asking if everything was ok. I would have been very concerned for my friend and her kids because it would seem like obviously this is related to the family emergency and something REALLY bad must have happened. I found her and her husband’s defensive reaction kind of telling that maybe they knew more about exactly what was going on and they were worried they might get dragged into the charges.
I wrote a comment saying almost exactly the same thing as you did! My immediate reaction would be to assume that some terrible accident or catastrophe had happened, and that the police were there to notify the kids in person, which IIRC they usually only do if someone is dead or severely injured. I would almost certainly be absolutely frantic with worry and fear!
But both Pam and her husband are eerily unconcerned, visibly defensive and just generally disconcertingly casual...even when told that their close friend (whose kids were in their home) had been arrested for horrific child abuse and neglect!

pam had no obligation to say a single word to the cops i would not have identified or volunteered any info. they detained her for over an hour in cuff with no reason to think pam had committed a crime. they claimed they had a warranty for her arrest and that was a lie. that is what cops do lie and they are allowed to do it. i would even have identified to the cops and definitely would not have volunteered any info because cops lie

I am very confused by this family’s behaviour at the court hearing. They are smiling or laughing, including Shari, while these younger children are still recovering from physical, and psychological, trauma. Also following Dad’s desire in charging his eldest daughter with theft, you would assume the father-daughter would be estranged. Seemingly the same reaction from the bodtcher household. Their reaction to being made aware of child neglect and abuse, and yet exhibiting zero emotion. Very troubling, and I hope wise decisions are being made regarding the placement of these minor children.
I’m shocked that Kevin hasn’t been arrested. He was living in the home when this happened. I hope he’s not allowed to have his kids right now. He could possibly influence their stories.
I don’t think his daughter took the electronics. I think they took it with the search warrant and he thought the daughter took it. He also wanted her arrested. She went in and got clothes for her little sisters. These parents are something else I wouldn’t even give them the role parents.
He was not living there when things got bad. He moved back into the home when she was arrested.
He wasn't living in the home at the time. In fact, he claims that he had no idea that his kids were being so horrifically abused...because he hadn't had ANY contact with any of his kids in over a year!!
What kind of father is totally willing to just disappear from their kids' lives for over a year, without even checking in to say "hi" or "I love you!?"
This just shows that Jodi magnified what was already happening! Kevin may not have been there for the last 18 months but he was there for punishments prior!
Like making his growup son sleep for many months on a bean bag, just imagine how uncomfortable this is . And when he complained, they threaten to making him loose his room and his bed again.
Look at how many times she mentions that she took them to go get ice cream because she knows that she made them scrub her floors. And she doesn't want to see like yet another one who is abusing those kids.

Did you notice how Pam said it was "their" program, referring to connexions? She said it as if she doesn't participate in Connexions. She was trying to distance herself from it. Pam knows what goes on. She is making bank on it.
The reactions of these people are so telling in my opinion. They(meaning Pam and her husband) never ask what's going on when they're wanting to see the girls at first. It's not until they handcuff her that she's like "I don't even know what this is all about!" They don't even seem surprised when they are told and they never ask if the other kids are okay or anything about them....nothing. She's not even bothered by him saying "As long as she's not tied up and bound..." . They are also ,outside of a couple moments, so calm and nonchalant.Their reactions or lack there of, all just seem so odd to me. Their reactions don't come across to me as people who don't know anything about what's going on. I just can't help but think that at the very least Pam knew and very well may have known how they were treating R and E well before that day. They just feel so off to me.

Right!?! If I were watching the kids of one of my friends, and the police came to my door asking to see the kids, my immediate first response would almost certainly be to the effect of, "OMG, what's wrong!? Has their mom or dad been in an accident? Is someone in their family hurt!?" At the very least, I'm certain that I'd immediately be concerned that something terrible had happened to the kids' family, and that the police were there to inform them and possibly escort them to a hospital, a victim's advocate or something like that. I'd be utterly frantic thinking that someone in the kids' family was hurt, or that there had been a catastrophic fire at their house, etc. In fact, my heart is actually beating faster just thinking of anything like this occuring to me; one of my childhood friends had their brother and grandmother die in a car crash, and the police tracked down their family members in order to inform them in person. I'm sure that something like that's where my mind would immediately go in such a scenario.
What I'm bloody well sure I would absolutely NOT do would be to act unsurprised to the point of seeming bizarrely casual and/or ask defensively if the police had a warrant!!
Also, WTH is up with her being so utterly unconcerned because it's not HER daughter!? If I was handcuffed and informed that a close friend was arrested because their children were discovered bound, malnourished and injured, I'd be confused and frantic, regardless of whether I had their other kids at my house! This woman seems eerily casual and disconcertingly unsurprised.
(But then, I also don't use my friends' children as unpaid household servants, and I'm also pretty darned sure that none of my mom friends are horrifically abusing their children...)

Why weren't any of the kids at school? One of the teen girls was at work at noon on a weekday when Pam picked her up at work. The other teen girl was supposedly elsewhere when Pam picked her up. The two little kids were at Jodi's house and definitely NOT in school. Does Utah not have any schooling laws? So many people lying in this case. Pam lied to the police. Her husband seems shady too. School starts mid-August in Utah -- the arrest was August 30. All of these children are school age.

@@islesofshoals3551 That's sad. A quick look at Utah law about homeschooling reveals there are NO RULES or regulations about homeschooling...except the parent just signs them out of school. Also, interesting HS kids don't get a high school diploma, but have to take the GED. I wonder if that's how Chad "graduated" early.
Holy cow on Dad TRULY wanting Sherie to be charged with theft. I’m glad we have this body cam to have evidence of the true character of this dad (not just how his attorney portrays him). I know this was reported, but I never heard proof that this was true. What a dad!!! Unbelievable!!! I don’t believe anything his attorney says about this loving dad anymore!
This was one of the last videos they uploaded to 8 passengers. They actually shared a video from christmas day where the two youngest children had to watch their older siblings open their presents. Sick. I believe that the two middle children were compliant, in a stockholm syndrome kind if way. It was two Christmases ago.

I grew up in an abusive Christian household. It’s not even about Stockholm. Those children are being brainwashed into thinking everything that Ruby says. I was the kid who was placed on a pedestal and my sister was being abused the most. It took me a LOOONG time to see that my sister is not a bad person and I am INDEED not better than everyone else 😅 it’s honestly so fucked to do this to kids because even the kids who werent abused are going to have to struggle unwinding the mind fuck that these parents put them through.

There’s something so dark about the Christmas video. The fact that the 2 youngest children have to sit and watch the older children open presents is just… sadistic. Ruby saying her children are “to numb” to suffer “enough” from their punishments and so she’s punishing them more? Clearly there’s some dissociation going on to cope with constant cruelty. And the “egregious sins” they have supposedly committed are so vague. How are a 6 year old and an 8 year old supposed to display complex ideas like “genuine repentance” etc.
Ruby had a history of mind games, especially with the youngest daughter. She has indicated in the past that the youngest has some sort of learning disability, and yet the child was expected to wake herself up for preschool, make her own lunch for kindergarten, etc. I even saw a video where Ruby was making fun of the lunch the 6 year old packed for herself! The girl had unwrapped an uncrustable pb&j and put it in a container. The mom was laughing at her, “Why would she unwrap it to just put it in a container?” I don’t know Ruby, maybe because she’s a small child. Maybe she wanted to have a lunch that looked like the other kids’. Maybe she didn’t want it to get squashed.
Ruby and Jodi both seem to believe parenting is all about control until the children are 18, and then they write them off. They aren’t preparing their children for adulthood. They don’t see them as individuals.

It's like they see kids as burdens which need to be rigorously and relentlessly "trained" to exist in absolute obedience for the first 18 years...at which point they're on their own.
It doesn't at all seem like their goal of parenting for them is to prepare children for adulthood and living on their own, or even simply to love them and want to help them grow into healthy happy adults! Instead, it's like the kids are just objects whose sole purpose is to satisfy their parents' arbitrary and sadistic whims. And then, once they reach age 18 and are too old to serve that purpose, they're no longer considered useful and are summarily discarded.
As a parent myself, it's basically impossible to wrap my head around their way of thinking; as a mother, I see my greatest purpose as being to raise my children as selflessly and unconditionally lovingly as possible, with as much of a sense of stability as possible. I brought them into this world with a sense of solemn and profound responsibility, with the goal of raising them into adults who will be happy, healthy and fulfilled, and who will hopefully leave the world a better place. The idea of having kids for seemingly purely selfish reasons is just utterly foreign to me, and honestly feels like it violates the most basic and intrinsic maternal instincts- after all, we're not talking about impoverished subsistence farmers who need to have as many children as possible in the hopes that enough will survive into adulthood to keep the family from starving...these are wealthy American parents who can easily afford to see their children as more than mere chattel whose duty it is to help the family survive the winter!

The physical abuse is horrific, but the psychological abuse is next level. There is no punishment that could be handed down, where I would say, hmm that’s too much.

Before I retired I was a part time health and safety officer. I am horrified to see that Pam's husband is stumbling around the house with trailing shoelaces - an accident waiting to happen. I sure hope the rest of the house is safer for young children. And the Pam in this video looks nothing like the President Pam shown on Connexions website
The selfishness thing really gets to me. Growing up, I was made to feel like it was selfish of me to ask for my needs, or bother anyone, or have an identity. I was taught this through indirect communication. I'm 30 now and still undoing the huge damage it did to my life - it gave me severe depression and panic disorder. But I never got Christmas taken from me, and I wasn't given a whole talk about how "deeply sorrowful" my parents were with my choices, and how it affected my family and my school and teachers. I wasn't physically tied with rope and held prisoner and wounded. I can't IMAGINE how much worse that would be, to be told so viscerally, explicitly, and repeatedly that you are that selfish. I'm sure these kids did nothing at all but exist. How unbelievably cruel.
I totally understand. I'm in my 40s and I'm still in therapy dealing with the repercussions of constantly being told that my needs & wants were selfish ,and that I was a selfish, callous, lazy person.
I honestly can't even imagine how screwed up I'd be if there had also been severe abuse and neglect!

I think Pam definitely knew what was going on with Ruby (that she was about to be arrested.) Also, I don't get at all why the two older Franke children and Kevin seemed so cordial and happy walking out of court after Kevin had earlier wanted Sheri arrested. Very strange. I sure wouldn't be so quick to forgive if my dad had wanted me arrested. And I sure hope Sheri isn't letting Kevin over to be a parent again. 😮
Also, why was Kevin so interested in getting these electronics back? Was he hiding something for Ruby?
Compromat Ruby had on him? His lawyer said Ruby told him something during their jailhouse conversation that changed Kevin's opinion of her.

Whatever the reason for his confusion, he did cause her to say the girl was not her daughter. That’s a good thing and (perhaps) it was intended to get her to affirm she was not the parent - and has no parental rights.

So many questions... How is Santa Claus a child's "leverage"??? The arrest of Pam Botcher is a huge mess, and she definitely only cares about herself. And if she's president, why is she distancing herself? "Their" program. "Their" pillars. Regarding the Franke family, Kevin certainly looked like he wanted to pursue robbery charges against his daughter, but then there they are smiling and laughing leaving court. I definitely hope this family is able to be repaired. And of course everyone wants the best for the 2 youngest who have endured too much for words. We can only speculate at this point, but we're all watching and waiting.

It seems that according to the prophets of the Mormon church is that there is nothing worst then to have your children to be impure. That parents have the obligation to save their souls with anything necessary. Scary.
I grew up in Catholicism. My mother had this same idea that it was on her if we were not good. That said, she never abused us physically or mentally.
Ruby stated in her videos that everything in the home belonged to Kevin & her. Basically everything the kids had wasn’t theirs to own. When Sherry left, her parents cut her off financially. Her bank account was empty. That is a control tactic. They wanted her to come back. When she didn’t, they cut her off. That was Jody’s philosophy.
She’s not saying that she got a phone call to pick up the girls…and making other people’s kids do housecleaning sounds very much like kids are supposed to do chores etc., but not here to visit or because they are friends…even if you stopped and got ice cream beforehand. None of them value kids as people, only as someone to control and use.
The Police need to investigate all of the people who were paying Ruby & Hildebrand for their Advise. All those people were being told to do the same thing to their children!!!

If I'm not wrong, it was Christmas of 2022 she took away from her 2 youngest. You can see a clear escalation of abu$e after Jodi came around. Kevin is just as disgusting. I'm willing to bet my house the only reason Kevin wasn't involved in the starvation and imprisonment was bc he was kicked out of the house! I love seeing kevin get shut down by the police! You can see him boiling inside bc he couldn't punish and control Shari. They told him Shari is family and he hadn't been there for a year 😂😂
I also loved how he tried to soothe his bruised ego by mansplaining to the officer: "Hm, I'll have to do some research on that."
As if the prosecutors, detectives and officers present are so totally ignorant of the law that he'll be able to prove them wrong with a bit of googling. Ugh!

A question regarding Pam Butcher's intention to have Ruby Frankie's child with her.
First, Pam says she's going to watch the kids because Ruby Frankie got something important that has turned up!?
Then when she is sitting in the police car, she says that she has the children to clean the house at her place.
Pam herself has seven children and 14 grandchildren! Why does Pam bring in other people's children to clean the house when she has so many children and grandchildren herself.
Why does Pam use other people's children as unpaid cleaners and not her own children herself?
Can't she herself force her own children to clean?
Or she herself does not want to expose her own children to it!
Something is not right in her statements....
I can also assure you that if law enforcement showed up on my doorstep with handcuffs and partial snippets and information that is utterly confusing, I wouldn't be talking without an attorney. That being said, Bodtcher's reaction to her friend being arrested on suspicion of child abuse is very telling. Such lack of surprise speaks volumes about the women in Ruby Franke's orbit.
Watching that video of Jodi on the Connexions website made me think of Patrick Swayze’s character in Donnie Darko when they play his video in class. He’s this self-help guru who comes to the high school to give talks to the students. He’s really popular and well known. Yet he ends up having a kiddie den in his house. We don't know what conversations Kevin, Shari, Chad and the other children have been having together...I hope that they are managing to work through things to establish what is best for all involved. It's hard being in already dysfunctional family when shit hits the fan. I am sure for all of them they have much to resolve. Being so scrutinised by the publicity, where much of the public opinion is speculative is a daunting thing to face.

Therapists can request to be on a referral list. They do this for many types of organizations. I am thinking that this may change and they just won’t refer to any specific therapists anymore because there’s just no way to know what they are doing.

I believe Ruby and Kevin have taught the younger kids that Shari is living “in distortion” and can’t be trusted. That’s why they didn’t initially want to go to her house, but to stay at Pam’s. Kevin’s just as bad imo

I’m glad he did tell her so much information because her reaction tells it all. Wouldn’t a normal person be asking a million questions if they are clueless about what’s happening. So Aunt Lydia here knew exactly what was going on since we know Ruby called her and said there was an emergency .. so her act “their here to clean I have people coming over “ is bull” per Jesse she was Jodi’s snitch and was constantly with her.. she was the third person pictured in that boating trip knowing Ruby’s young children were alone in a terrible state she knows everything imo.. the handcuffs should have stayed on

The fact that the boy said that all of his sisters were in the house gives me the idea that he probably has been isolated and detained for so long not knowing who really was in the house or not. He also asked what day it was when questioned about his younger sister age ( she turned 10 a few days after the rescue)

This lady hears about severely abused children as long as it's not her little grandkids it's all good this lady is not normal .
When a child or children are put into foster care after being so horribly abused, does the state require the foster family to have experience with abused children and their mental and emotional health?
I am not sure he actually ever had a warramt to be honest. I think maybe he knew he could get a warrant but what he was asked to do was get the girls safe and arrest whoever picked her up if it was deviously done.

Why didn't Her children do to clean Her house
To be fair who of us hasn't been asked to help out in a family emergency and used the opportunity to crack on with roping eveyone for a fun and reassuirng housework party 🥳 Her lack of curiosity about the wellbeing of the other children is staggering.
I once cancelled the Easter bunny for my kids because I stupidly said it when I was frustrated and then had it follow it through after they still didn’t do what they were supposed to and I still feel horrible about it seven years later 😂 this is just absolutely horrific! I’ve seen people saying Jody has made her do all this stuff but she was clearly ok with abusing them way before she met her!
Pam a couple of times basically implied that both kids were there, by saying “they”, not just “she”. The officer didn’t notice until the third or fourth time, and only then asked her about it and figured out that there was a second child there.
Don’t know why they didn’t ask whether they knew where the second child was.
Taking Christmas away from the youngest children is heartbreaking 💔 I can't imagine how bad those 2 children were & how much they needed to repent. Kids make mistakes. It is the parents job to love and nurture them and not be neglectful (the lunch incident & comments re. a 6 year old) and abusive. Emotional torture regarding that it's the children's fault for everything that they do or don't do. The parents giving unconditional love on Christmas, reality and boundaries are not gifts.
