This popped up in my feed so giving it a watch. I bought mine new and it has around 47k miles now. I haven't really done much in the way of repairs. Alternator once and the battery like 3 times. I'm running a tune, Wildwood brakes and sticky tires on ssc wheels. Then a bunch of ddmworks stuff.
Note , you can repair the front lower bumper, and two fiber glass suppliers make replacement lower fiber glass fender panels. these replacements are much stronger too. The headlights are all but unobtainable, new in the box, but the old ones can be polished and clear coated back to new, with little trouble. Tail lights may craze after awhile, and they have to be purchased used, and are not cheap if in nice shape. The main mechanical issue is the water pumps will leak, and take many hours of labor to fix, and we had to pull the turbo on my 2008 to get access. The 2007s only have the timing chain guide wear issue, which is expensive to fix, but the factory upgraded the internals, starting in 2008. If the guides are failing, you will see stuff caught in the VTT valve actuator screens. BC coilover shocks are not that expensive, and made a big difference in handling.
Correct only thing I will say mine is a 2008 and had the timing chain wear issue when I went ahead and changed it at a little over 100k miles one of the plastic guides was already broken.
The info on the 2007 MY chain guide is wrong. I had a 2008 Redline and the guide went bad at 86k, you hear the ticking at startup. I have another redline with like 67k miles, I’m the original owner and it has not had the guide replaced yet.
I thought the motors were pretty solid but I'm thinking non turbo version. Didn't realize they had timing guide issues. Didn't know about the differential either. I'm starting to understand why these are so cheap around my area. Struggling to find parts sucks, that's no good. I found one with 50,000 KMS for $13,000 here in Canada. Looks mint but skeptical to buy it due to parts are difficult or impossible to find now. I guess there's companies making stuff like windshields and tops but for how long?
Note on the headliner: The insulated top haedliner was an option on 2006 solstices, idk about 07. by 2008 the insulated headliner top was standard on all cars. I dont know if 2007 skys had the possibility of being built without that option.
All Saturns had the headliner, it was only the base level Solstice that didn’t have the headliner, it was an extra charge option. I think all GXPs came with the headliner option.
I am struggling with a couple of things and I would love to chat with you about upcoming mods. I don’t see anywhere on here where I can email you, how do we communicate?
Hii, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THIS COMMENT 🙏🏼 thank you so much for making this video! I recently found a 2007 Saturn Sky base for 2,500 and the owner straight up said the missing parts are the BUMPER, BUMPER FACIA, TWO BRACKETS, HEAD LIGHT, SIGNAL LIGHTS AND SIDE LIGHTS, SPASH GAURD AND HOOD but that the engine and all else is in perfect running conditions. My dad keeps saying to go for something more practical and in better condition cause of the discontinuation he says it won’t be easy to find the parts for it but I can’t help but think that if I don’t get it I can potentially miss out on a fun nice looking car and just fix it up cause if it is in perfect condition just no hood and the other parts I mentioned then it shouldn’t be a bad car right!? 🥹 I guess I’d just like to feel more comfortable that I won’t be taking risks you know. IS OR WAS IT HARD FOR YOU TO FIND PARTS OR KEEP UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE OF IT?
There are enough used parts like bumpers and hoods that if you don't mind having to repaint it would be worth it. Mechanically that engine was used in a lot of different cars so parts mechanically are no problem just body parts are a bit different but put there if it runs perfectly I would definitely go for it

Please don’t stop making these. I have a redline and your videos are very very helpful including the head gasket one
Thank you

Huh, defect? or maybe just lack of quality and on-time oil changes from the original owner?@@alexchavez1011

Never knew it was an option on the early cars you learn something everyday

Is there an upgrade to the timing chain guide? Like a metal one instead of a plastic one?
Thanks so much!
Where did you get the touchscreen for inside the car?
Ebay. I have a video of the install with the link to it
Please tell me which one to get
I had a 2008 Redline Skyline. Don’t get a regular Skyline. Get a Redline or the GPX. Great car.
I'm ready to sell mine for parts 😢 I luv this car. Needs a motor.
could some of these plastic parts be 3D printed?

What's your contact info
Good luck finding that Passenger Airbag Sensor. Very difficult to replace and $400 is conservative.
Sorry sir ..but your saturn sky is messed up. I have a 2008 RL and the engine looks brand new and it has 68k miles...take care of yor car...
Can you recline and raise the seat
@@theverdict2890 the drivers reclines and raises but the passenger only reclines
This kind of stuffs just normal wear with this car, change the name to how to find a perfect sky this points are just comon sense
My soltice has metal fenders and they have small dents on the bottom of them instead of cracking.
Parts for this car are very hard to find....
Yeah… the water pump went out on me at around 40k on it. That was an all day job 🤦♂️.
There's one in my area with 97k miles for 7000, but I don't have the money 😭
I can't watch this he sounds to gay
