That’s a shame the OTS commissioning is so low. Low numbers discourages me from taking that path as I have already earned my bachelors.

Don't give up hope. They will eventually likely increase officer recruiting through OTS. Contacting an officer recruiter is your best bet there. Best of luck to you

Is SLECP O an option in the USSF yet, like in the USAF? Already have bachelors, which is really a disadvantage because there are so many officer tracks for enlisted without college degree.

*Caveat to the Space Force ROTC, as of right now you compete for SF your sophomore year (this goes for both AF/SF scholarships). Estimated selection rate this year was under 10%, but you don't need to be a STEM major to compete.

I hear lots of jokes about the SF, but they are an integral part of DOD!

@@jvanek8512 After talking to a few officers that are space force at the base I work on, it is still under the umbrella of the Air Force and will be for years. It is a funding issue and the do great work protecting our military satellites. Space Force is the future. Dems or Repubs never save money with a 30 plus trillion debt, if not SF then it would be squandered on some wasteful projects to stay in power!

How do I get in contact with a prior service recruiter? It has become impossible to get any answers without being thrown the whole "IST" b.s. that doesn't shed ANY light for those trying to ask other questions.

I would contact your local officer recruiter and they should be able to point you in the right direction. www.spaceforce.com/find-local-recruiter

What if an ENLISTED member of another branch wanted to become an officer in the space force? Would that be possible?

You'll want to speak to a Space Force officer recruiter. There are interservice transfers: www.spaceforce.mil/Portals/1/FY24%20USSF%20Interservice%20Transfer%20Application%20Process%20-%20FINAL.pdf

Dave, what are your current skills, interests, goals that would add value to the Space Force? What do you bring to the table now and commit to add to the table once you move to the SF?
IF you happen to be bringing to the table centered in areas I mentioned in my post… SF leadership would be foolish not to pick you up. I am sure other areas of SF have similar needs for sharp tools in the toolbox.

Dave, BTW, picking up a family tradition, one of my daughters went through ROTC, worked her arse off, used her brains, was a leader and team builder, helped others, was complete in excellence in all she was called upon to do. Then went beyond that. She was noticed, and the rest is history in the making. She has risen quickly to Major. I am sure you have much to bring to the table. Good hunting!

I would think that Cyber Security, Cyber Warfare, Cyber anything, IT focused on Space Force resources are in short supply. OCS is a great way to nurture those who already have skills in these areas. To take those skills out of corporate world, black/white hat world, who are patriots seeking to make a real warfare difference.
Also, one of the reason why .mil, .dod, .gov get successfully hacked often… Compliance failures, which lead to daily human based mistakes +horrible habits that cost the nation lives, treasure, and our freedom. OCS is a great place to move those with real street experience in this area that is critical essential for Space Force to live. Space Force IS the most digital service for the USA.
What I said above also applies to ROTC programs. There are many 17 year olds today who already run circles around officers who think they know… but do not enough to defeat these young adults if they were on the other side. Or worse yet, these treasures are on sidelines.
Who will see what I am suggesting? Once seeing, actually read deep, take this serious? And finally, make it their mission to engage more people who are critical to the Space Force, and the lives of the citizens? Space Force has such a high percentage of officers for the positions, no way will the critical need be fulfilled through the Air Force Academy. I was disheartened when I hear her indicate how bad the odds were in ROTC, and OCS. That is why I made this post. I know what I am talking about. I am deep in these CS fields. This is not theory. Anyone reading this, thank you for your time.
