I started to study British English. There are some things easier than the American English and some more difficult. I'm having a hard time not pronouncing the "r" sound in words (non-rhotic). The pronunciation (accent) of some words is also a bit different.

Hello Alisha I'd simply ask a few questions firstly I want to learn English so I can communicate when I travel and another reason is that the English language might be the only language can helps to contact with people around the world. Anyway I want to you to tell me how to be fluent in American English i can read and write but whenever I have a real a conversation with naatve speakers i make many mistakes and I can't even follow them because they speak so fast just like you do
Hello from VietNam, i am learning english in beginer form, is there anyone can be practise with me?
teacher Alisha is handsome
my friend, the adjective 'handsome' is used for a male person only, a man.
Kirill English-hot-dog OK 👍
Hahahahahahah
Kirill English-hot-dog Just a question
we can't use "handsome" for a woman?
Say, in a play in an all-girls school, a play of Romeo & Juliet. Of course, to give the "Romeo" vibe the most "handsome" girl would be chosen for the role wouldn't it?
But if the adjective "handsome" can't be used to describe a female, then how should we describe the girl fit for the role?
Charismatic? Sharp? Cool? Manly? Athletic?
Does any word give us the sense "handsome" gives?
Im still a beginner in English so if you can shed some light on this issue it would help a lot :D
it's me The word "handsome" can be used to describe a female, but it's more appropriate for an older lady (like over forties) who is elegant, well-groomed and has inner strength showing in her appearance (she has strong, prominent and symmetrical facial features). It may be insulting though, because some females don't want to be thought of as handsome, they'd rather want to be thought of as beautiful, pretty or just good-looking. Anyway, it shouldn't be said directly to a woman's face, use "handsome" only for describing someone and be cautious.
A young girl fit to play Romeo's role should be described as boyish (referring to the body type) and good-looking/attractive, maybe with stronger (more masculine) facial features. I think it could be offensive to call her manly.
I learned more vocabulary. but i can't speak english so can i speak.
