I think that the Nia acted as the exact same as Soren’s Nia. And the only reason she was more distant and stubborn was because that’s how her daughter acted to her when she reached out to her, making her realise that her invention was all for nothing.

Years ago when exurb1a was taking off online, these videos used to make me feel something. It's been so long now that I couldn't even say when the last impactful video was. I keep watching these because they're funny and a bit unique, but I fear I've lost the ability to appreciate what used to make them special to me. The videos haven't changed, I have.

The part where Soren was constantly writing her, and getting more heartbroken, hurt, saddened, and angered really touched me. With all honesty, it almost brought me tears. It was very powerful.
It's even sadder because I can tell what made them fall for each other, and I can tell that he knows she isn't myopic or avoiding civility. The Nia he's writing to... is living embodiment of hyperopic pragmatism avoiding a sentimentalist's unbending streak. Soren's just forever in denial. And sadder is, I agree with Nia and sympathise with Soren. But what else can you do? Nothing but cut off and move on.

The only thing connecting the world lines is Nia and her superposition messaging system, and if the reason driving widowed Nia was the daughter she lost to cancer... what reason was behind the happily family version's invention? She was always going to discover this method of communication for better or for worse. Both Soren-less Nia and the to-be cremated Nia were simply stuck on finding some semblance of a daughter.
It's sad really. She wanted to find her daughter and realised even before talking to that spitting image of pragmatism that she was never going to find her... she was going to find a version of her so distant and removed that the child knew humouring Nia would be torturous and cruel. And so she realised humouring Sorens out there who had lost their own Nia would be torturous and cruel for her to do. She said it felt weird to receive his message. Even after being contacted by 500 others, she said it was weird. She cares, and that's why she cut it off.

One thing I love about your videos is how before watching a video I can just look at the thumbnail and title in confusion and after watching it and going through the same but unique emotional roller coaster I go through every video I look back at it and it has a whole new meaning this video is straight down my alley I love this kind of idea of multiverses and stuff And you did that in the most poetic way I've seen yet

Don't worry. It's an irrational fear. Though the smell may fade from sheets and clothes and everything else fabric, your nose and your mind remembers the smell because it is there in your synapses forever. On a day in an alternate universe, the wind may pick up the scent and carry it into your nose and you will remember everything. Nothing significant dies in your memories. It just isn't around for you to remember it anymore.

I was really expecting Soren to say "Who's Mara?" and the knowledge of a daughter who never existed to further his already terrible mental state.
Not only the knowledge of his counterparts parted daughter, but the knowledge he will never truly know the purpose *his* Nia found in her work.

Nia described the worlds branching like coral- that is, they were all the same until they were different, which for this Soren and that nia was where the bomb fell, meaning his nia had the same reasons and they had the same daughter die at the same time. They are only different because we are not the product of our biology, but the product of our experiences, and that was the first experience they differed
@@bulldozer8950 there were other differences tho, like the fact that there were no roses in Nia's garden; it could be that they've had entirely different lives experiencies and this one just happenned to correlate, just like two strangers going in opposite directions. Who just happened to cross paths one time, share a moment together, only to never meet again.

I've started binge watching some of your videos again and this is something that personally fucks me up because I think of how many different ways my life could've gone and to a bigger extent, the wider world as a whole. Shits mind boggling

It baffles me. How do you come up with these ideas and write them so elegantly into stories? I'm always in awe.
He talked about this in one of his videos, but tl;dr is behind every video there's hundreds of hours and scripts, ideas that didn't work and refinement of those that "sort of" did.
It’s actually like surrendering to a void and a stream of ideas come to him and he’s just jots it down and then he refines it later to his liking. This happens a lot with great writers, it’s very easy but very hard and only they will understand that is true

I really don't think that's what happened. The person who wrote the last letter suggested several therapies, so I don't think she just took all that with 0 emotion. But who knows.
The Nia at the end is a different Nia than the one in the rest of the story. This is shown by the person writing the letter mentioning that there wasn't a war, as well as inviting Nia's still-living family. I'm not sure that the Nia at the end had anything to do with the other Soren and Nia, other than possibly obtaining copies of their correspondence for use in her own research.
@@funnyteachermanMy interpretation was that the parallel universe Nia set Sorren up, lying about her dead husband and daughter to gauge Sorren's emotions and play with it essentially. All for a doctors degree, further reinforcing that she was very different from Sorren's Nia

@@camrenstevens317 just went down that rabbit hole myself and while he's not been charged, he doesn't seem too innocent either. Just search up exurb1a controversies and you'll find stuff with sources. I'm feeling quite conflicted as this is my favourite channel after all but knowing in the back of my mind some or maybe even most of the allegations are probably true (until that court case is finished with a verdict we won't know) it kinda sucks.

I've kinda wondered about it. I mean if it were me, I don't think I'd bring that up with anyone, especially an audience his size unless I absolutely had to. And technically, he has no reason to. Bringing up claims which are *that* serious between himself and a private party would seem kinda scummy imo. It could and likely would look like he's trying to weaponize his audience in his defense against this woman nobody knows a thing about. And "coming clean" isn't something he has to do unless he was in a legal setting. Obviously I don't like or agree with what he allegedly did, and if the allegations are true and he's convicted for it, I won't watch his shit anymore. But we as an audience kinda have no right to ask about his side of something that personal/serious and expect an answer.
Again, if he is guilty of it, I would detest the guy. But he is innocent until proven guilty, and videos of people talking about screen recordings and personal accounts don't give enough evidence for his guilt to be 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt.
