Yep alongside gta VII, rare got the license
The one thing I miss from the game currently, is exploration. Discovering not just new islands and regions, but new discoverable caverns and chambers from doing new voyages, tall tales, factions, etc. This is what I would be most excited by for a sequel.
SoT 2 would low key be a mistake. Unless they can do what csgo did when they switched to cs2 and everyone kept everything SoT 2 would be dead off launch. It’s been a live service for to long to think people are just going to grind out another game. if they keep servers up for SoT no one will switch over to SoT 2 to start over and if they kill support for SoT most of the player base will be bitter and will just leave the “franchise”.
I think they will move over certain cosmetics perhaps, for example I have the obsidian 6 pack, a ferryman pack and some others I can't remember. Maybe you won't get those exact cosmetics, but you may get a substantial substitute.@@brennancondon3357
If there is a new game I hope they add more things for players to do with each other.. The biggest thing ive wanted is a update to taverns so we can play cards and bet currency on the games and it lets us have fun with new crews.
Agreed!
This will never happen, they went into this already. If they add any form of "betting" the age rating for the game would go up.
If you want an open world sandbox game with gambling then just play gta online
Or we could just have it in this game..?@@LemonDani
@@WesleyVossyup when they added the dice roll emote I was like wow you guys are testing some waters here...
If there is a sequal I want all cosmetics to be movable to the next game
And our pirates somehow.
This is a must. Many of us have so much time and money invested in this game. Especially through the Emporium.
cosmetics are the main part of the game. yeah, you fight and sink ships and explore and find treasure, but you do all of that to get gold, and then cosmetics. I heavily doubt that they won't let you load your SoT1 pirate to SoT2, lots of players would probably quit if they didnt
Have to. I want my pirate too.
What game ever has ever done this?
Whilst I feel a sequel may happen, I would rather they just relaunched the game with a new engine/servers. In their most recent podcast they talked about lots of sandbox additions for 2024 and I don’t think they would spend time developing them if they could just save them for the sequels release.
If they develop things for sot ‘1’, it wouldn’t take shorter time to develop it for sot ‘2’. There is no sequel coming, cause they’re still updating their current version with huge updates. Why would it need a sequel tho? It’s a really cool game as how it is now.
@@ssttiaan For the reasons, listed in the video: Improved server stability, more regions, more things to do
@@jjopificationall things they can add and update on the current game, if they plan on a big big update they can call it sea of thieves 2.0
As the game has received more content and new features the game has arguably become more demanding performance wise so I think that Rare is trying to focus on stability. People want new stuff but I think it’s crucial to get the game to a playable standard. I think it’s been long enough that rare can stop support for old generations of console. This would open a lot of doors.
The game runs better now than it did before
I'm really hoping they do a massive overhaul to the game, but if they do end up making a sequel, I hope they allow for character transfer, even if stuff like levels and currency are reset, having coms and cosmetics transfer would make a lot of people happy I feel, cause the grind for some of the unlocks isn't worth it again to many.
I would be so sad to lose my character, the roleplay aspect of SoT is underrated.
maybe the character, but they will never let u move your unlocks.....new game means..u start from zero..also with cosmetics because they want...and to some point need to sell those.
@@Shadowclaw25some people spent thoasends of dollars on rare DLCs/cosmetics just deleting the game wouldn't be fair
life isnt about fair....if they make a new game...of course u wont keep your stuff. When the hell happened that EVER anywhere....it did not..never.
Were not talking about a dlc ..its talking about a new game.
Also what is fair about forcing developers to make a game where you already have everything....that will cut the winnings by alot...its cosmetics..if you bought so much of them...u seem to have the money...so buy it again. Or look like everybody else...and get your looks by playing the game.

wishful thinking. none of those things are likely to happen
Ships leaving wake, seeing the anchor, and a new world with server meshing need to be a thing.
Love the video, but as a game director here, I really doubt they would launch a SoT 2 for the next 5 years or more. What I see is that the current SoT uses an old version of Unreal Engine. which causes serious limitations when trying to implement new systems, areas, procedural events and etc. So... My guess is that they will update the engine and make a reboot of the game. Bringing us back to a season 1 of the new game. But, its just a guess..
I'll just say that if they'll make SoT 2, I hope they'll let us keep some of the cosmetics from the current SoT.
The only way I'll play a sequel is if all the cosmetics we've earned in SoT are transfered to SoT 2, because I don't want all the hours of grind gone to waste.
What if i told you, that all your grinding for cosmetics that ultimately mean nothing, has already gone to waste?
@@DisiplynThen I'd say it's the funniest thing I've seen all day.
Sea of thieves 1.5 would be great in my opinion. Not necessarily a sequel but a remake as we have seen with other games (ARK, Overwatch and CS:GO) utilizing a new engine, giving the game a fresh new feel, yet keeping the original charm and feel, while also solving performance issues and such. In my opinion they are better off with a refreshed version rather than a whole new game.
You’re an idiot, opinions are wrong…
I agree something must be happening behind the seas. I doubt it’s a sequel. I would imagine perhaps server upgrades, an optimized version for last gen consoles, then perhaps an expansion from there where you can portal to a new map or something.
A new engine with new mechanics would be a breath of ftesh air. Maybe with solo pvp servers and lose the hopping around for hand-to-hand combat.
Well we probably have about 4 or 5 years considering when sot dropped and the fact that Jon, Joe, Andrew have stated multiple times they intended for sot to be a 10 year game.
Idk if its just me, but the game seems to be bursting at the seams; i'm running on a 6800xt, and on certain parts of the map, Port Merrick especially, my fps drops from 90-120 all the way down to 30-45
Port Merrick is terrible for everyone no matter what your PC has inside. Too many objects are loading at the same time. You can experience similar fps drop if you have even two stacks of FOTD on ship.
yes the game is terribly optimised
8:08 I hope you have a delicious and digestible hat then.
We'll see about that
Slapping a 2 on a game doesn't work though. And I'm sure plenty of people out there would feel betrayed if they have to start all the way from the beginning after spending thousands of hours in this game actually I would feel pretty fucking betrayed.
If they make SoT 2 I really hope they get better servers for it so we can have more ships around at once. And of course transfer all earned and bought cosmetics...
The only game in existence where 50% of your gun shots DONT COUNT and everybody loves it.
I'm just hoping that the new Sea of Thieves transfers everything from the first Sea of Thieves to it since then it'd save a lot of time
Bring it! Build upon the stuff we alredy have but for the live of piratehood have more depth with weapon/ monster/ ship variations, types.
1: Have monstrous " Moby " whales and killer whales with 4-6 color variations and personalities/ way they behave ( by species ). Have one thats the apex. Use the Megalodon as basis regarding variations. Say we have a black Stalking Wraith " Moby " whale that haunts the Roars. Also sea serpents and monstrous killer whales. Could you imagine getting swallowed WHOLE on a rowboat by a .. mreps whale?
2: Improve the combat. Its clunky Imo. And add more weapons and variations of each type to get SKILLED at. Impact at gameplay but never be able to pay to " win ". Have Rapiers, Falchions f.ex. Cutlasses be the slowest but most dmging. Rapier the fastest, Falchions in the middle. All with unique animations, pros and cons. Let us get masteries of the weapons with unique looks/ designs.
3: Keep Safer Seas and High Seas. However... an extra challengin ONE life Iron mode/ Hardcore mode for bigger risk/ rewards. Even a realistic mode to maybe disable some functions like shooting yourself out with cannons.
4: Have character customization and let us choose between being mainly left or right handed. We play role as a pirate of ourself. Why the blazings do we lefties 95% of games never be able to reflect that?? No excuses really
5: Different ammo types. Elemental, magical, etheral. The cursed cannon balls are a great inspiration. But yeah need balancing. Rather balance/ have options than " NOPE! Cant have such potentially great things, we rather contentgate it/ ignore it than bother to actually TRY hard and make it work 🤪"
I think you are spot on with the foundation problem. Sea of Thieves foundation is not built very well and it probably needs a complete overhaul and my guess its the biggest reason why you are not seeing more content. They started adding to it and all the glaring problems popped up. It's probably so bad they just keep quiet and try to fix it as best they can and hope no players figure it out. So they kick the can down the hallway with these intense and secret scavenger hunts to keep you distracted while they try to figure things out. It sounds like it just can't be done without remaking the whole game from the ground up and re releasing it, which will cause a huge player outcry and might actually kill the game. Treacherous waters here for sure but I think it will work out in the end.
As it stands on the high seas, there's either nobody anywhere or everybody's trying to kill you. No middle ground anymore
They are definitely working on something bigger then that little thing they are doing. There is no way they are letting the game die like this.
I was thinking the same thing today dude! The lack of expansion on the map and that it makes sense as we are all ready for new islands and adventures post xbox one original.
Unless its a looter where you can actually get better gear for your character, not going to happen.
SoT1, sail the empty seas searching for players while grinding loot to get money to unlock cosmetics that all look like bright, colorful , seashells. . .
SoT2 would need to be much, much more than that. .
With PoTC and its ship combat, it has all the potential to be great. But grinding just for "cosmetics" is not going to cut it for an MMO.
Dungeons, Raids, Getting better gear to show off to others, ship upgrades, charaters you can customize yourself vs letting Rng pick, a Hub island safezone where everyone starts their journey with massive docks for everyones ships. .. . Professions, leveling certain skills like fishing and cooking, stamima, attack. . Sooo much they could do. Will they? Probably not. If they do?
Then we can say
"Thats the best pirate game ive ever seen"
Till then
"Grinding for nothing but shellfish cosmetics sucks" . .
Yeah i feel like a sequel is definitely on the way, but i don't think it will come until the next generation of consoles.
I hope they revive the game with another huge update similar to anniversary
Probably not anytime soon within the next few years. After the boom of the anniversary update. They stated they’re going have a committed 10 year plan from when they first launched. If it is in the spectrum, it’s a ways out.
you have just said what i have been thinking for about half a year, their is NO WAY a dev team this big working with other dev teams can craft so little in a year.
i hope they do make sot 2 because that would be a great way to 'fix' the game and have a better launch
It honestly feels like SoT is currently on life support.
Just doing the bare minimum to uphold the game as playable, pushing out Bull S updates that our out of touch with the community.
Either the majority of RARE are working on Everwild and are using the other gaming companys to maintain SoT until it dies out of support.
Or Ray is right and their working on SoT 2. I doubt it though...
Yeah sot is 100% on life support and I really hope they are making sot 2 because I love sot but can't bring myself to play it with the state it's in and ugly weapon animations that can't be cancelled by quick swap and an ugly hitmarker with no content and really bad rubber banding
After literally 5 years of playing, I completely stopped cold turkey during the Monkey Island TT, zero hours since then till present. Mind you I was a former competitive SoT player as funny as that is, they did everything in their power to silence and destroy that community, which is ironic coming from devs that love to boast how it's a sandbox for all communitys.
Game is no longer made and catered for players like me sadly.

i miss arena
I don't think the strain on servers necessarily means a guaranteed sequel. There are a fair bit of games doing big overhauls without a relaunch right now. FF14 getting a major graphical overhaul next expansion which is in about a year, and probably a closer comparison being Hunt Showdown also doing its own overhaul in April. I don't mind if they went the sequel route, but if they could manage to make the necessary changes without a full sequel i think it would be better overall
I honestly doubt any of this is happening although I would love to see them re release this game with some new content but mainly tons of fixing with issues (LOOKING AT YOUR HIT REG) Possibly more parts of the map as well. It should be a re release for all the newer consoles though so they can do much more since right now they are probably very hindered by the old gens they have to be on
I would love to see an engine upgrade and a better server-side experience with a sequel, allowing more content expansion as well as a larger more populated shared world instance. The current shared world is small and with few ships. Rare has and continues to do a good job alleviating this problem by giving players lots of things to do in that shared environment that doesn't require player interaction, or attracts large instances of player interaction.
If sea of thieves 2 were given more proper server infrastructure, similar to how Embark designed the servers for "The Finals" to handle exactly what the game was made for in order to boost performance, I could definitely see the Sea Of Thieves shared world quadruple in map size and player counts at a baseline. Especially considering the current servers Rare are using were never designed to handle the kind of computation required to ensure clients have accurate information on the game state. Having a stronger backend could really open things up development-wise.
An engine upgrade and new server infrastructure is a massive undertaking however, so I'd imagine the release of a sequel not adding a ton of extra content right off the bat which might disappoint some folks, and it would need to be timed so that the number of players on older hardware represents the smallest minority of players within the community, because there's no way they could or should manage two different backends for the first and second game. Realistically the transition to a sequel would have to happen in the same vein as Overwatch where the old servers were shut down and new ones were brought up.
they should just add 1 small 1 medium and 1 large ship to the game it would blow up again; remember the hype for the rowboat?
edit: I really hope they don't add a sequel yet I dont want this game to die
If Sot 2 has arena then I’m coming back to the series
We need something to really jolt the community alive again.
Only 2 years ago, I was *strongly* against the idea of a sequel. Now, I'm warming up to the idea. I think that, over the years, the technical debt has become more and more of a problem for Sea of Thieves, both the developers and the players alike. They've already had to get inventive just to get things like Monkey Island off the ground. As such, I find things have been feeling worse and worse lately.
A lot of the veterans I used to roll with regularly are either extremely pessimistic about SoTs future, or just burnt out to the point they no longer care. At this point, genuine consideration should be given to "What comes next".
Should they choose to make a full blown sequel or just a reboot/remastered version... I don't really care. As long as they use what they've learned over the years to build a strong foundation for the future... I'm all aboard! What I would give to feel excited for my favorite game again...
I think something like this may be bound to happen. Sea of Thieves has been successful for years now but soon or later the game will be running on old systems that won't be able to keep with new content to keep players engaged. So SoT2 does open up opportunities to bringing in content and mechanics that were maybe scraped like new regions. But no doubt there will be cons that will come with SoT2.
sot 2 would be crazy as long as I get to keep my character
if we had a sequel there would have to be far more RPG elements. the complete sea explorable underwater and large lands with cities not just islands with full dialogue with NPCs oh and a Campaign of some kind. a better combat system as well (honestly blocking is STILL USELESS)
basically an EXTREMELY tall order but a new foundation to build on thats bigger than SOT 1.
a 3 lives system before moving you into a new server would be pretty cool as well. smite the player ruining the server and never see them again.
this is an unbelievably tall order but the only viable reason to make a sequel would have to be something they'll make more money from than a free update.
If they do a sequal a good idea would be to link them to get cosmetics from tge previous games and have them connected
As long as I can keep all my cosmetics and my pirate progress, go right ahead make a part two
Do you think cosmetics would transfer over?
Would love a relaunch to fix up server issues and revamp some of aspects. This game is funand has so much potential, but a session is a good time commitment to get anything done. I feel like some sort of quest or spawn option to get you right into the heat would bring akot of people back
In 2022 I had this feeling that 2023 would be the last year for SOT (at least in its current incarnation, held back by the old xbox one). Then everyone was doing Unreal 5 optimization and I thought that might change things a bit. But either way the 2023 year has had me wondering a LOT.
On twitter I initially predicted that the game would go on hiatus for SOT2 in 3rd quarter 2023 and thinking it would come back relatively quick like first of the year.
What happened didn't feel too different than my prediction so far...
My guess is that the sequel will release following the resolution of the Captain Flameheart/Cap’n/Servant/Ramsey/Duke timeline.
Honestly I'd be doing nothing but safer seas if the severe hamstringing of what you can do in it wasn't there. Progression and money earned in it being 30% is fine. But why no captaincy?
I think the recent rumors of a PS5 port is probably what slowed down 2023 content.
Stopped playing in June, woke up and thought I’m done with it. Been playing since beta and never saw the shrouded ghost.
I would love a sequel or full on relaunch simply to solve the server stuff. Imagine sea of thieves with an even bigger ocean and more islands and biomes and most importantly MORE SHIPS per server along with all the usual cool content and better hit reg. I would play it forever lol
pess x to doubt i dont think there gonna make a sot 2 theyre probbably just gonna keep updating sot
If their is a new game I would love for randomly generates Islands for every server
Rare is working on Everwild
Just getting back into SOT and I thought they should’ve waited on captaincy for a SOT2. Kinda feels bad that there’s a whole new progression system that all my previous playtime didn’t contribute to.
It may still be too soon for a sequel. I get the game is years old but theres so much more they could add before a sequel even gets announced. New regions would be great. New weapon types. More advanced voyages (higher company levels too) more tall tales, a player pirate cove for you to mount trophies, trinkets and treasures to depict your successes and fortunes, add guild voyages, extend athenas fortune, maybe add Athenas Vaults (Ancient Vault of Legends) etc so much they can try before releasing a sequel in UE5
I sincerely doubt that there will be a second game. I will eat my shorts if there is a sot 2
I want Sot 2 just to relive the experience of everyone being a diaper when it first launched 😂😂
I am getting back into sea of thieves and just watched your video on the complete story of sea of thieves from 5 months ago. Could you make an update?
The only update is the Monkey Island Tall Tales to be fair, you can miss them out completely and the story is the same state as it was in February 2023.
Personally, I feel like they MIGHT be working on a sequel, but not for the reason most would believe. Sea of Thieves is an old game. An old ONLINE game. Every online game is like a timer. As the time ticks by, the game loses more players and money. And once the timer hit's zero, the devs can't afford to maintain the servers and the game goes down. Unless of course, the game has some local or offline play features. With the addition of Safer Seas, I'm lead to believe Rare feels Sea of Thieves might be on it's final legs these recent years and they're using Safer Seas as some testing ground. I think it may be safe to assume even more solo play features could be coming soon, and if so, the more likely we are to get a sequel. If they really are using these new features as testing ground, then they may be using the collected data for the potential sequel.
If they do make a sequel, they better have some way to transfer your pirate, otherwise, the community might force Rare to walk the plank...
Can’t wait for them to conclude Flamehearts story in the sequel to try to bring people in
The more I think about it the more of a miracle 2020 was, we got an insane amount that year
Oh boy, time to write a super long comment that nobody will bother reading! :D
I dont personally think that a sequel would be a great idea currently, considering how many things have been added to the game recently that have leveling systems, such as the hourglass levels, captaincy, and guilds, alongside base stuff like ancient coins, cosmetics, ship trinkets and so on. All of these things that people have worked/paid for would be lost when moving over to the sequel
What I do personally think would be best for the game's longevity would be dropping support for the older generation of consoles, and only supporting current gen, as it would allow the devs to add new things to the game without having to concern themselves with the limitations of past-gen consoles. It may also allow them to upgrade their engine to make server performance and hit reg detection better (i dont know how true this is though, im no game dev).
Of course, this is just my opinion, and im sure that microsoft's contracts and the like make it difficult for rare to even consider dropping support for old consoles, but its just my view on the matter
TL;DR: The original xbox one is old and causes the game to follow its limitations, let the game move on from it
They're definitely not developing a sequel, at the very most they'd be considering one, as we are. From a developmental standpoint, no team would work as much as they have overhauling and fine tuning the game's system like they have, just to move on. The closest thing to a sequel I see this game receiving is either some mobile game, or a 2.0 update like Overwatch.
Did they nerf the Meg over the years because when I first started a Meg could actually sink you now they rarely even attack and when they do it’s like 2 holes max
Yes they did nerf the meg .

Ok, so now it seems like this is probably actually building up to the game being released on other platforms.
That would still be a relaunch in itself and would definitely increase the playerbase, but wouldn't be a sequel
If they were to relaunch it would come either S11 or S12 as S11 is the last expansion of key mechanics.
If sot 2 gets released I want to keep all my og cosmetics
Sea of thieves 2 has been rumoured for over 2 years now though Thier is still content around that they haven't used yet in the actual game. I would at least give it 2 to 3 years. Before we actually hear anything big about it. I would also hope they make it a story to remember.
I think renaming the game "2023 Edition" is a big hint that there may be a "sequel" or relaunch under a newer engine and named 2024 or 2025 edition.
sea of thieves is such a great game, but it has just always felt ahead of its time. I think a relaunch or announcement of sea of thieves 2 is exactly what the game needs to be honest. They can use the blueprint of sea of thieves and finally make it the game it was always meant to be.
Honestly wouldn't mind the sequel assuming it wouldnt be on xbox one the world and new mechaincs that could be done with put the holdback of older hardware would be awesome
Well let Rare finish Everwild first (announced 4 years ago). And as they still work on SoT seasons i'm not so sure about a SoT 2 until many years
I honestly don't think they will release a sequel for the simple reason that Sea of thieves is a long term game right now.
Its life expectancy is still great, Rare is still making money with the game. If the Devs are really working on something big related to SoT, it would be likely be a huge update like anniversary was.
New features, mechanics and likely map expansion.
But who knows.
Maybe the "visible" development has slowed down because they prepare to move to Unreal 5, which would be a major task.
an update being sold as a separate game never goes over well. Such examples are State of Decay and the year 1 edition, Ark evolved and it's ascended version, Overwatch and it's "sequel" Overwatch 2.
Ditch last gen consoles, and also rumours of it being playstation bound will give it a massive boost
All i want is Sea of Thieves 2 on playstation with more ships, more weapons, bigger map and islands, and just more everything!!!
the lack of christmas trailers could also be seen as proof.
Monolithic games require more and more debelopers as changes creating expoentially more work as a game grows
I’m hoping I get to see AShinyRay eat his hat, but I’m not counting on it.
i hope they have quickswap in it!!!
I really don't think it needs a sequel, and I don't think me and many other SOT fans would even play SOT 2. I don't think there's anything wrong or outdated about the base game, but I would like to see more content updates, as some things like the skeleton forts have just been forgotten about and get boring for regular player
That's a nice compass!! 😎 Which one is it please?!🤔
But would it save my progress, and would I have to purchase sot 2 as well? Those are my only concerns
it would be bad if progress somehow carried over because then existing players already bored of sot would get burnt out very quickly, also they cant make a new game and then give it for free to over 30m people
@@sSteppingStones but if progress reset then the old player will be even more burned out if they have to redo everything, so progress MUST be carried over for the health of the game, it would be even worse for existing player if the progress are reset, all of your work on the previous game would be disapearing and you will get bored way more quickely trying to get everything back
@@tueur_au_compasgaming7808there is no point on carrying over the progress as it would be a different game
@@tueur_au_compasgaming7808 you are forgetting it is a new game
@@tueur_au_compasgaming7808 You're assuming Sot 2 would have the same exact game loop as Sot 1 (grindy quests where you do the same thing over and over). If they make a Sot 2 then my hope would be that they totally revamp how you progress.
thanks for ur amazing content
If this is true, I don’t know how I feel about it. I would LOVE to see better/ larger servers with more people/ships and more areas, and I always assumed it was just the old gen consoles holding them back. But even if they need to relaunch the game with better servers or something but keep the same game I would be happy.
I would be sad if they launched a whole separate game and we lost all of our amazing cosmetics (looking at you ferryman sword) just like you did in Destiny 2.
Let’s be fr I don’t think we will ever get A SOT 2 if we do then A: ill be surprised and B: it’ll probably be just map changes
Going to say this, if Safer Seas is a way of testing if people want a PvE only game, then boy did they fk that up. I know at least 12 people now who didn't want to come back because how much of a hit the progression took. If this was a TRUE test. They should have just separated the characters so there would be no crossover and left the progression as is.
I doubt they are working on sot 2 given safer seas are for new players. They wouldn’t invite new players to play sot if they were making another one. Plus all the bug fixes and stuff.
I think the latest developer podcast points away from a Sea of Thieves too. Also, do we really want to see something like Overwatch 2 or Destiny 2 where it is in many worse than what we already have?
I thought the "sequel" was going to be Everwild, considering the pitch they sold us was "sea of thieves, but druids n' shit"
If we get a sequel curses better carry over
i deffo want a sequel, the anchor that is xbox one is showing in the game and the engine, give us a new sot title on ue5 without the limitations imposed by old gen . ive been wanting a sequel since seasons began.
Recommended for Sea of thieves 2... Make it more adult, and give it directional melee combat similar to For Honor
Yea, after season 11, update dabloons seem to be worth ten times less, and it's a probability ancient skellys are removed. i haven't seen one since I updated
Follow the money and the money is dissappearing
Sad to think that kind of game have to eventually ~~die~~ be replaced or left behind while you are still getting older
The game was released before it was finished and that rickety foundation needs to be torn out and rebuilt with better future scaling. The original game release was bare bones resulting in a alpha / beta experience throughout the first year. The copious amount of issues are piling up from the original build not being able to handle new content easily. The biggest strength the game has being interacting with other players has been sacrificed since they lowered ship and player counts multiple times in order to add unnecessary stuff like guilds and over the top spreadsheet systems that aren't fun. A lot of the things they added have nothing to do with playing the game, they are just tracking what you do and that's supposed to be content somehow. It seems like real content has been missing for a while and no announcements of real stuff being added. Reskinning a skull, chest, boat skin isn't very enticing to get a lot of people back on the game. We know it's the same thing but new paint.
The issue is that the new content is just a grind and really it gets old quick like how many forts can one do before it's not even fun to do. That why me and my crew just hunt others now cause the game just so dull to us that the only excitement we get from playing it. They need new map or a expansion with good amount of new islands wow factor that makes the risk and rewards worth it again. When first came out kraken ghost ships were way harder and now every pve is just so simple.
I really hope they make a sequel with a better engine, better servers, revamped combat, and pve servers
