  • Dave sits down in 1985 to discuss all things Van Halen breakup with music journalist Lisa Robinson on the short-lived syndicated music video show TV2000. Sorry for quality this was taken directly from an old VHS that I used when I originally taped this off TV when it aired.

The chemistry between Lisa Robinson and Diamond Dave was pretty special. They seemed to like each other quite a lot. Dave was in classic form here.

agree they always had good chats but a bunch of years ago I was thumbing through her autobiography and she said she didn't like talking to him and preferred talking to Ed. I remember she wrote about a party with david bowie where she made it sound like they all goofed on Dave when he left the table.

@STEVE HEROLD Wow. How interesting. Ed was much more humble, that's for sure. But I'm surprised she admitted to not liking Dave. They seem to get along so well. Part of the profession, I guess. Thanks for uploading. It's a gem. 🍻

@@quintbromley2112 no prob Quint. I wouldn't be surprised with the frequency she interviewed Dave if maybe he did something like not grant her an interview or exclusive or something that pissed her off so when it came time to write her book years later she held a grudge.

I bought a copy of the script in Hollywood in 1990. Not sure how well it would've aged but it has a few funny parts. I was a guest on a podcast called DLR Cast and we talked about the script.

The more I think about it the more the brothers messed up here and they should have done the movie as a band and with it would have come a soundtrack. And I loved the Hagar portion of the band.

Where did this guy go? This was the coolest dude in the Universe at that time. I understand aging and all of that. But Jagger and Richards still to this day are Jagger and Richards. I don't understand what happened to Roth? Drugs?

i agree. dave seemed a lot cooler back then. that 80s laid back stoner vibe. now he's got that weird Joker grin plastered on his face and he's all wired. i dunno.
