    We recently cruised on Voyager for 14 nights and can say as frequent cruisers that it was a very enjoyable experience and the restaurants were better than expected, regarding the condition of this 26 year old ship it was clean and quite fresh, the only negative we could see although we didn't go looking for problems as Dan & Jay seem too have done was the external condition of the windows in some areas as they looked to be botched up attempts to get her ready for the season other than that no problems that we noticed.
    Would we cruise on her again? Definitely if the itinerary and price suited us,.
    Considering Voyager? Then don't let this vlog put you off, it's a very good vlog but I think Voyager's niggles are over exaggerated here.

      Thanks for sharing your opinion. I have always cruised with P&O, but unfortunately over the past 8 years I feel that their standards have really gone down hill, and this includes the food offered, entertainment and sometimes the crew’s poor attitude’s , so my wife and I are considering booking a cruise on the Marella Voyager. My question is, have you cruised with P&O and if so, did you prefer your Marella voyager cruise. I would be grateful for your opinions on this.

    • @leeandjancruise
      @leeandjancruise Před 7 měsíci +1

      In our opinion all cruise lines that we have experienced (see our vlogs) post covid have made cut backs or inflated prices to recoup the millions lost during the pandemic and P&O are no exception but are good value especially if you get generous on board spend, Marella tend to be more expensive than P&O for similar cruises but use older reasonably well maintained ships but they're all inclusive and visit more ports therefore less sea days so one has to play one against the other making a decision.
      We have no preference over what cruise line we sail with as we chose are cruises for the itinerary and price, never had a disappointing cruise, the only negative thing we've noticed recently is that with decent hotel prices being so high there's now many younger first time cruisers on board usually for a week and cruise etiquette is just non existent with many as they tend to treat the ship like a resort hotel.@@jasonclarke7422

      Thank you so much for replying. The first cruise my wife and I did was on the P&O Oceon Village cruise ship, which was a wonderful ship, and even though they advertised it as the cruise ship for people that don't like cruising it felt a lot more like a cruise ship than a lot of the cruise ships we have been on recently. I 💯 agree with you about the cruise etiquette which sadly is none existent for a lot of people, but maybe it's me not keeping up with modern times.

    A fair and honest review although we didnt actually notice too many poor areas on the ship, probably as we werent looking for them. However in all the reviews I've read regarding Voyager no one has mentioned the sunbed situation which in my view was as bad as any cruise I've sailed on. The reserving of beds at the crack of dawn was akin to a bargain basement Benidorm holiday and the fact that staff allowed this to happen was appalling. We actually saw a lady reserve a bed and get off the ship in port only to return some 5 hours later to have her towels still attached. This when other sailors were hunting the decks for somewhere to sit. This needs addressing as it only takes a few people to start taking towels off to start a major incident. With regard to the cruise itself you get what you pay for and on the whole we had a good experience. Would we sail again on this ship? Probably not.

    • @sailawaymag
      @sailawaymag  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching Paul! To be honest, we didn’t do too much sitting round by the pool because we felt the pool area and deck area was dirty! However, it is a fair point - as one morning we went up to the pool area around 9am, and we couldn’t get a seat; but more loungers had towel clips and belongings on them, not people!
      Like you, we made the best of it and felt that we probably got what we paid for - but it’s not a ship that we have any desire to return to! Marella Explorer is still our Marella favourite! All the best!

    We sailed on the ‘maiden’ cruise a d whilst we agree with most of your comments we disagree with many others. This is quite normal as all comments are personal. We loved Kora La much more than Surf and Turf and found the steaks much smaller than our previous Marella cruises. Our main moan was people saving sunbeds and then going off for the day. Staff are supposed to put a timed note on them then remove belongings an return them to Reception. We didn’t see this happen. However we really enjoyed our cruise and the shore trips we took

      they have a dress code for latitude in the evening and maybe for lunch, they had a dress to impress night, but apart from that not really, latitude is smart casual i think, so no flip flops and shorts

    You get what you pay for , p and o have gone so downhill lately they are very disappointing. Marella I think has its market and it’s not for those that want plush new ships and 5 star service. Not sure where p&o sits now as the passengers who are very loyal to the brand are now having second thoughts as the experience is not what it was. On the Azura in may I was disappointed with the outside areas very similar to the pictures you showed of poor maintenance. I think you can get spoilt when you go on ships like the virtuoso as we did last year such a gorgeous sparkly new ship, but the total experience in msc is not without fault… on the voyager in October and very much looking forward to having a relaxing holiday.

  • @cruisingwiththe4bs

    Great review guys as always balanced and fair,few things I think for us.
    1. That cabin!! I think I’d actually prefer to sleep in the reception area haha, compare it to other lines they look really dated and remind me of a holiday inn room.
    2. The food looks good and there seems to be a lot of options and we could definitely find something.
    3. I think we would have to disagree about this being a budget line we priced up for a family of 4 and it was between £7-8k which to us is utterly ridiculous compared to other lines, yes it does include all of those things however I could not comprehend spending that much!
    4. Overall we can’t say that we would want to try Marella unless we got a bargain! Rach 😊

    • @sailawaymag
      @sailawaymag  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching guys! Yes, the cabins on this ship do resemble a holiday inn/ travel lodge - in fact we said that ourselves, but thought it might offend some snow flakes if we put it in the video. There was no wow factor about the cabin at all.
      The food was alright - with he exception of our meal at Surf & Turf, we didn't eat anything the entire week which blew our socks off. But, we felt that overall the food quality was good enough for what we paid, and the variety of dining venues on offer far excels many other cruise ships we have been on.
      Budget for a couple, but not as a family as we believe Marella charge near enough full price for children which is why your quotes are so ridiculously high - we wouldn't pay those prices to cruise on Marella either! But, as we said - we couldn't have cruised around the med in July, as a couple, including flights, transfers, tips, a drinks package and stay in a balcony cabin for less.
      Long and short of it, we wouldn't try Marella again unless we could snatch a bargain, as there are too many areas of improvement onboard! Thanks for watching :)

    This is hugely disappointing. We've booked this for our first cruise next year. I do agree with the comments regarding the deck area and cabins (considering it has supposedly had a refurbish), but i do think that for the most part it did seem that the overall experience didnt live up to your personal tastes and unfortunately it came across as a huge moan-fest! Like i said, hugely disappointing to see considering most of the reviews have been great (mostly). GJ.
